The Breath - The Name Of God

The Breath - The Name Of God
The use of vanus in the original text could be thought of as ... "To speak something in vain is to speak it with emptiness, with futility; it's a waste of time."

THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST LIFE CHANGING THING I HAVE EVER LEARNED AND EXPERIENCED. THIS MAN IS SPEAKING THE TOTAL TRUTH. I HAVE BEEN PRAYING LIKE THIS FOR YEARS..AND IT HAS BEEN LIFE DEFINING. .MAY ALL PEOPLE WHO LOVE GOD PRACTICE THIS METHOD OF CALLING ON THE NAME OF GOD LIKE DAVID, THE PATRIARCHS, THE PROPHETS AND OF COURSE, JESUS DID IN THEIR DAYS!

Historically, when people married, the bride “took the name” of the husband. When we (the bride, the church) live as though we have no husband (Jesus, God), disrespect or disregard our husband, we have “taken the name” of our husband (Lord) in vain.

I belong to the Religious Society of Friends (the Quakers) of the silent tradition and we meet for an hour's silence each Sunday. So the practice of silence is something I am trying to master day by day. This message will certainly deepen my silence, thinking of it from what Richard just said. I will also not take my breath in vain. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Theodore In the UK if you put into a search engine Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) that will take you to a very helpful website, where you can find out about Quakerism and local meetings. In the UK pretty much all quaker meetings are silent/'unprogrammed'. In the US my understanding is that there is a liberal/unprogrammed branch and a conservative/programmed branch (where there will be a minister leading a service). But both traditions are guided by central principles of a personal relationship with God and there being "that of God in everyone". Google Quakers US - or wherever you are - and that will take you to helpful places I'm sure 😀. Quakerism has strong roots in Christianity, but not all Quakers are Christians..... I absolutely love the US KZread channel QuakerSpeak. It's beautiful, with so many helpful short videos. I love the video '9 Core Quaker Beliefs'. In friendship 😀........

It does not make any sense; why would He YHWH had His name written in the Word no less than 6,823 times if He, as our Father, did not want us to call on it? And why would He rather be called Adoni? Sounds more like the Greek god Adonis to me. You surely know that they had started worshipping the gods of other nations which they were forbidden to do. And furthermore; the King James took His name out and replaced it with the words LORD GOD, which is a title and not a name. You can find a bible called The Scriptures, which is from the Institute For Scripture Research where they restore the name in its original place along with restoring the name of His son.

Name in the Hebrew means character. Not taking his name in vain is not taking his character in vain. Like having his character and going out to lie cheat and steal. You call yourself a man of God and you go out and sin. That’s taking his name in vain.
