I thought 'wild mountain thyme' was beautiful song but oh, boy this one is even more beautiful song. I feel transported to the country-side when I listen to this song. Lovely. In 'wild mountain thyme' it states 'I will find another' but in this one it says 'I will find none other' which is way more romantic than 'If you don't come, I will bring someone else' which definitely makes this version more charming, old fashioned romance.

Rob Roy McGregor is buried nearby in Auchtubh; it is often foggy or raining but even then a place I can only ever think of this song when I was there. The braes are gentler than this picture and the wee burns have the purest water, good to drink but cold. I would like to go back one day of the few I have left and even when we are a free nation again.

I thought Wild mountain thyme was a beautiful song then someone recommend me this song, wow, just, wow this song is just breath taking. Now, I just see wild mountain thyme as a generic pop love song but this song is about enjoying and loving the land, the seasons, the flowers, the animals and sharing it with our loved ones, this song really reminds me that we are one with nature not separate so beautiful.

Scottish Song By Robert Tannahill The Braes Of Balquhither (pronounced "balwhidder", with the 'wh' being pronounced as in 'what') (also known as The Braes Of Balquhidder and The Braes Of Balquidder) is a folk song by Scottish poet Robert Tannahill (1774-1810), a contemporary of Robert Burns 1759-1796, Set to the air "Bochuiddar". Tannahill's original song, first published in Robert Archibald Smith's Scottish Minstrel (1821-24), is about the hills (braes) around Balquhidder near Lochearnhead. Like Burns, Tannahill collected and adapted traditional songs, and "The Braes Of Balquhither" may have been based on the traditional song "The Braes O' Bowhether". This is so beautiful! The song "Wild Mountain Thyme" is based on this song but personally I think this original Scottish version is more beautiful - both the tune and the words.

Such a beautiful melody (Wild Mountain Thyme's mother song) that it is actually haunting my mind from the first time I heard it. It is so gorgeous by these men. I like to hear it on the bagpipes too.

I have add a consideration i forgot, this song is sang by Kells, an argentinan band, all credits to them. Quiero aclarar, esta cancion es tocada por Kells una banda argentina de musica celta.

Len Graham sang this admirably with Skylark with a slighty different melody. But this is nice, too. :) Originally written as a poem by Robert Tannahill the "Weaver Poet" (June 3, 1774 - May 17, 1810)

This Christmas my brother and I put on a concert for our parents (I sing and he plays guitar). I had just recently heard "Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go" for the first time and fallen in love with it, and when I went looking it up, I found this poem. Sadly, I didn't look for an alternate melody to go with it, and so I sang it to the tune of "Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go". It sounded pretty that way, but man, now I wish I'd heard this sooner.

Because the 1950s version is about a boy trying to convince a girl to go up the mountain to pick thyme (which makes it a dumb song eventhough it is beautiful) "will you go, lassie go, pick mountain thyme with me or I will find another love" hence the word "Will". This song is about a guy saying to a girl "let's go up the mountain side to admire the beauty of nature" hence why the song says "SMELL the sent of wild mountain thyme" instead of "PICK mountain thyme". So this song goes something like this "Let's go lassie it's summer and the flowers are out to admire" (Lassie usually means girl so this song could be a father taking his daughter to see the flowers, it doesn't have to romantic, that's why I think it's more beautiful). "Wild mountain thyme" goes something like this "will you go lassie, up the mountain with me when summer comes and we can pick mountain thyme? or I will find someone else".

This is by Kells, a band in Argentina. It is the most sublime version I have heard! Very difficult to find recordings by this band online. alvarocasas33 commented in 2008: "...esta cancion es tocada por Kells una banda argentina de musica celta."

You are probably wrong because; quh is the 'Wh'/'W' sound in old Scots. Widder in modern Scots means weather, quhidder means weather in old Scots.
