Someone said this on another video but the Deep has insane potential as a villain because of his ability to literally withstand ocean pressure even at deepest level. He just doesn't know what he's capable of and only uses his crappy fist fighting skills when he could be a true danger doing his own thing.

The fact _the Homelander_ was taken aback a little by how the Deep was acting does a good job of showing how bad the Deep's become after doing that.
I really like how they took A-Train and Deep and made them both mirrors of each other: Neither of them are taken seriously in the Seven, they're both egotistical jerks with a touch of a moral crisis, and both are holding on to Homelander's approval to find a purpose. The difference is that A-Train was an ass, but he also slowly (and I mean veeeery slowly) learned from his mistakes when the people in his life tore him to shreds about it, and he realized how much he lost in order to get better. The Deep was a spineless sleaze from the beginning, who had no one to moderate his ego and cruelty and always took the easy way to redemption. That's why he ends up becoming even worse while A-Train begins to become a genuine hero.

Such a foil to A-Train A-Train apologises and is forgiven for what he did and Deep never will nor be forgiven. They killed people or animals they loved and suffered the same shit they did onto them (Bluehawk and A-Train’s brother, Deep getting raped in S1) A-Train becomes more disgusted with whatever’s going on and becomes better while Deep revels in the madness and gets worse

Despite it being an Octopus this was one of the most brutal scenes in the entire show.
[Three Weeks Later:] HL: "Where the hell have you been?!" Deep: "Doing it, Sir. I did it." HL: "Did what?" Deep: "Killed every single one of them." HL: "Who? When? What?!" Deep: "You told me to get to it. So I did. I killed them all. Every fish." HL: "I meant ordering the pizzas. For lunch!"
I was hoping for a Deep redemption of *some* kind, but nah, there is NO coming back from this. This is by a wide margin the darkest deed The Deep has ever commited. The Octopus genuinely cared about him and was trying to make him realise what I think he alredy knows at heart about Sage, but he didn't want to accept. And if she really is dead, an octopus can survive for almost 24 hours out of the water, then Deep deserves a very *painful* end
