Just looked at the Financials for the Boot Campaign. I'm seriously impressed. I've looked at many "Veteran Charities" financials and don't think I have seen better than the Boot. I'm pretty choosy about who I give money to, I work very hard and long hours to earn my money, and I like to know anything I give goes to who needs it. God Bless my fellow vet's who need a hand up and back onto their booted feet. Just dropped a donation to help them.

Its nice to see an organization that is not there to take advantage of the "veteran situation" and actually cares. 91 cents of every dollar is an amazing for a charity organization. I am glad that the black rifle team from the start took the pledge very seriously about helping veterans. The biggest part of that making sure that the dollars that get spent aren't wasted.

@@scallen3841 That is my point exactly. I know of guys with boxes of documents that can’t get through the VA system. Others with PTSD, addiction issues, broken relationships… that are left to fend for themselves. None of this will right. If you take the oath, put on the uniform, serve honorably, especially in combat then you should be able to get help and/or resources without begging for them. The country loves service men and women when needed, but when you’re done… Don’t just say thank you ask what you can do for them.

The most important thing for any member on ANY armed force is footwear. Throughout history the taking of dead men's boots wasn't based on stealing it was based on getting a pair of broken in boots. Fortunately modern military boots are designed to be functional and comfortable, from the first time you pull them on they only get better. Well done BRCC and Boot campaign, job well done.

I have been out of the Army Infantry for 15 years now and I never even been to the VA even once. Sure I have seen combat I fought in Iraq from 2004-2005 so I was an infantryman there during the begging of the insurgency. Everyone is made differently, I have guy's in my unit or squad getting full disability through th VA and can't work a job. When for me I have a full time job at Amazon, I saw and lived through everything they saw or went through. Granted I drink more than I probably should to shut off my brain and I have anger issues, but still I am a functioning combat veteran.

I have a prosthetic ankle, total ankle replacement device. I REGRET not amputating. But, it's too late for that now. I'm 53 years old, and I'm just fcking tired. I'm tired of the pain. Every damn day, it's pain, and at levels not normal people can handle. They had me on opiods for over 15yrs since I got hit and after med boarded. I did my best effort to move forward after service and gave DHS 5 dedicated years before I had the surgery that would change my life. Other than the benefits of getting off and away from opiods and all pain meds at that, the change came with some negative results. I was shot in 2007 OIF, pulling my team leader, who was shot, to cover. The enemy loved to bait us. Well, I didn't move fast enough and got one in the ankle. Yes, my TL lived. Since then, I've been in prison. See, I was a city kid who loved the outdoors. Only the outdoors was mostly a concrete jungle. So, I made efforts to get out to places where I can fish and enjoy nature. I love baseball & softball and played as much as I could. I even played a little while in recovery while still active duty. I was being treated by some great docs and later received a, one of kind, brace designed for ankle and foot injuries. The designer was also my PT therapist, and his invention was the IDEO device. It was, at the time, a God's gift for wounded like me. I was able to run, a little, and be active. Yet, despite the benefits of the device, my condition worsened. It got to a point where the device no longer worked as in the beginning. Funding to the Center for the Intrepid became lessor, and the IDEO program felt the impact of it. Talk about abandonment? Till today, I can't get back in there. Like I said, I'm so tired. I have lost faith in the medical industry. It seems that money takes preference over life. I've been blessed that God didn't take my life the day we got ambused on patrol. Still, I'm so tired now. Having this prosthetic in me leaves me unable to ise the IDEO brace to its full potential. I'm overweight, the heaviest I've ever been. I don't do much outdoor activities anymore. Not because I don't want to but because of the difficulties doing it. Yes, yes, I'm depressed every day, too, but that doesn't mean I must stop. I never quit. I can't quit. So many friends and family depend on me not quiting. Maybe a few are taking bets I will. No go. So, I don't wear shoes anymore. The way my ankle healed causes me to rub the outer part of my foot, causing painful bunions on the side of my foot that have nerve sensitivity and numbness. These days are harder because all the years of compensation, my good leg is breaking down. I go back and forth from the VA and Tricare, and I'm so disappointed in these military medical personnel. In addition to my ankle, I've got a list of war injuries to go with it. The irony of it all, I joined, went to basic, then to Iraq. I went on numerous combat missions until being shot. I was barely in the country for 5 months. The good Lord didn't take me then and he didn't take my TL. He did, however, take our Doc that day. So yeah, here's part of my story. I only put on shoes for a formal occasion. Otherwise, I'm in thong chanclas (flip flops). Remember the old joke, your momma wears combat boots to church? Lol, well, for me, it's, your daddy wears flip-flops to church. But like I said, I'm just tired, and I don't really like myself these days. I mean, when it rain, it pours here. Because we just learned one of my daughters is sick and has started chemo. She lives back home and travel is an issue. I need to go be with her soon but even that's a mission for me. So you see why my drive to move forward will never ceasefire. I live the standard, I will never quit, I will never leave a fallen comrade behind. This and my faith in Christ will always be the drive in me to keep on keeping on. I've lost family and friends, so at least, maybe, I can be a becon of light for all in this shitty ass dark world we live in. Well, that's it, I guess. If anything positive comes from this great. Also I'm not using this as a promo, but if it weren't for organizations like these to help guys like me, who knows how high the mountain climd would fail, you get me? This is a part of my story it isn't fake. You can look up my bro, Mike Barker from Heroes Sports here in SATX, who's known and been a major help for me since I was hit back then and assigned to the good old Wounded Warrior days.... Huh, that's also another chapter in my life. Sorry for this book comment. I wrote it to vent I gues. Real talk BRCC, yall may be too busy to read this or gaf. It's okay, though. I'm a fighter and will do my best as I can and keep moving forward. I'll still drink your Columbian brand café too, hahaha. God bless yall at BRCC and Boot Campaign. 🍻salud 🫡🇺🇸🇨🇺🇵🇷 Victor
