In “Trials of the Darksaber”, during the training scene, Sabine and Kanan talk about how the blade is heavy at first, and becomes lighter as the user becomes attuned to the blade. Very cool expansion of the lore

Wasn't expecting a Mando episode that perhaps teased some of the plotlines for season 3 (searching for the waters under the mines of Mandalor, visiting Grogu, maybe some Darksaber training with Ahsoka), but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think Lucasfilm is planting the seed to make Grogu to be the second Jedi/Mandalorian after Tarre Vizsla to wield the Darksaber in the future. Din Djarin father instinct to protect his son by turning the Beskar spear into some protective armor may have save Grogu from Kylo Ren's Jedi Temple massacre.

It's kind of weird that the best episode of The Book of Boba Fett so far didn't even have Boba Fett in it. The story of The Mandalorian is just more compelling IMO. Bryce Dallas Howard (actress from Jurassic World) directed this episode and knocked it out of the park.

Been watching a lot of SW reactions. Just caught a few notions from some of the reactors' replies: 1. We just got a guarantee of Han Solo, at the least, showing up. Pelli said Mando's ship will be the fastest in the Outer Rim and we all know that is a direct challenge to the lore of the Millennium Falcon. 2. The mines on Mandalore have been destroyed by air attack but Din is of course going there to get back to right with the Death Watch. The Armorer mentioned a mythosaur would unite the clans of Mandolore after she mentioned their rift with Bo Katan. So Din will probably have an Avatar moment when he shows up with a Darksaber and a mythosaur during a desperate battle for the planet in Season 3. Thinking about those collapsed mines, it has been mentioned tongue in cheek in the sequels that the Force is just "moving rocks". So when Din shows up to find the mines, who better to move those rocks from the mine entrance than the little Jedi riding in the back of his N1?

Let’s be 💯 real here…we all know if we were given a light (or dark) saber, the first thing we’d do is injure ourselves 😆😅💀so Mando is one of us 😉. The N1 ship is Luke’s Mom’s ship, that will hopefully help ingratiate Mando to Luke so he’ll give him a few saber/Force techniques. I think Grogu’s chainmail might be like Bilbo/Frodo’s mithreal (sp?) shirt. That package was so cute and tiny and tied to look like Grogu 🥰.

The Armourer mentioned something very important about the Darksaber: "If, however, it is not won in combat and falls into the hands of the undeserving, it will be a curse unto the nation, Mandalore will be laid to waste and its people scattered to the four winds." Bo-Katan was not a true leader, and in accepting the Darksaber, bought doom to the Mandalorians. The Armourer supports this when she tells us that "Her rule ended in tragedy. They lost their way, and we lost our world". Din Djarin will probably be the mythosaur and redeem his people so that they may rebuild their homeworld.

For someone who's been pulled over by X-wings before, you'd think he'd be more careful about doing even something like speeding near a commercial ship. I cracked up when he realized he messed up and cursed, "Dank ferrik." lol And while it is true that the traditional Jedi way is to forego attachment, you can argue that strict adhering to the dogma is exactly what led to their downfall. I don't think that's Luke's Jedi Order's way. In a way, the zealots in Din's Mandalorian Covert are at risk of the same. Dogma over reason. It will be interesting to see if and how Grogu rejoins with Din/Mando, though.

What the armorer said about attachments and jedi is probably outdated - Luke isn't anti-attachment as far as we know, because the reason he won against the Empire is because he refused to give up his attachment to his father despite his mentors telling him he should. Also, I don't think we'll see Grogu; I think that'll happen off-screen, just for expectation management :D

#ThisIsTheWay This episode showed me several things. 1st thing is that Din Djarin has earned his place within the Star Wars family(all, except the ST and Solo) and as for Grogu, he earned his place within the SW family in the very first episode in The Mandalorian. 2nd thing is that Din is finding out that it is easier to be a bounty hunter then learning how to wield the Darksaber(it has history and the title of ruler of Mandalore within it) and Sabine from Rebels had the same trouble with the Darksaber when she had it and they pay homage to that. Also Paz Vizsla(that Brute Mandalorian is a member of House Vizsla and so his claim had more merit then even Din did). But after he told the Armorer about removing his helmet he was branded an apostate(Because they’re creed dictates under no circumstances are they to remove the helmet and they mean it) and the Armorer is more then just a smith, they are the keepers of the histories of Mandalore(itself and their former enemies like the Jedi once where) and they have more influence over the even the houses themselves within the Mandalorian culture. But Din now has to go to the “Mines of Mandalore” and be “ baptized“ and be a “born again Mandalorian”. In the end Din is owning up to the favor to Boba after what he did to help fight against Moff Gideon. 3rd thing is that the N-1 Starfighter being a piece of junk and then being upgraded, souped up and redesigned into a vintage masterpiece(any mechanic knows that feeling) and we know that the back cockpit is now a passenger seat for someone of the green variety(we all know it) and anyone who is a parent knows what Din is going through and that he misses his “son”(Grogu) and he wants to give him a gift(I wonder what it is though?). Also that test run brings back memories of the pod race in episode 1. Final thing is that Bryce Dallas Howard can direct!!!!!!

  • @G1Transformed

@MAC React, 8:17 Paz Vizsla is likely the son of Pre Vizsla (the guy we saw in Clone Wars who lost to Darth Maul). They ancestor, Tarre Vizsla was the first (and only) Mandalorian Jedi. @OptionZero is spot on, but this isn't just an issue with Mandalorians but everyone, really. Luke had trouble with his father's lightsaber too at first. LIghtsabers are the weapons of Force users because they're better suited for such a weapon because of their connection to the Force. Luke was distracted with his environment, Han's teasing, and the loss of his family and home, but once he put the helmet on with the blast shield, he blocked his senses and cleared his mind. And as you know, he did much better when guided by the Force. AotC showed us how powerful the Force can make a person. We saw Yoda moving at the pace of a very old man, but once it was time to duel, he let go and the let the Force take him. His frail body became nimble and powerful. 15:34 I know how Din feels. Public transportation SUCKS! 19:57 I agree and disagree with you. It's definitely focused on Din through and through, BUT I think this episode will be very important for both characters moving forward as it has some really juicy information/reminders. The Armorer and Bo-Katan Kryze are two opposing Mandalorians from Mandalore's past. They both represent what's wrong with Mandalore and Mandalorians, past and present. Din Djarin and Boba Fett are two Mandalorians looking for their place in the world. Din's the accepted foundling who is loyal and adheres to the code, but is not part house. Boba is a Mandalorian not recognized by either Mandalorians factions--Jango betrayed Mandalore by selling himself to the highest bidder and allowing them to clone him, and not just that, he was crucial in the clone's training. The clones made it all worse, as they're the ones who helped the Empire bring countless worlds under the boot of the Empire, so it's understandable why Mandalorians wouldn't want to accept Boba, as his father is the guy who taught an evil empire their techniques and subjugated most of the known universe. Boba never had a home or people, he only knew what Jango taught him, which couldn't have much considering Jango died when he was 12. Nearly everything he learned, he had to learn on his own. Boba, for much of his life, was a lost warrior with no mission, so he did what he knew his father did, work for money. It wasn't until the Tuskens took him in did feel like he belonged, and it is because of the Tuskens did he complete his warrior training and finally become whole. They taught him that there is more to be a warrior than fighting--the three Tuskens he was always in contact with seem to be a reflection of Boba Fett: the Tusken youngling was quite similar to Boba on Kamino, inquisitive, inexperienced and brave; the Tusken Warrior is the badass many saw Boba Fett to be during the prequels; and the Tusken chieftain is what Boba now aspires to be. The Armorer tells Din of a folklore that I see being realized sooner rather than later, "the songs of eons past foretold of the Mythosaur rising up to herald a new age of Mandalore." We first learn of the Mythosaur back in the day when people asked what did all the badges on Boba's armor mean. Boba is training with the Rancor Keeper to learn how to ride his rancor. While a Rancor isn't a Mythosaur, it sort of looks like one. In that same folktale, the Armor also points out that a Mandalorian of two cultures, the Jedi and Mandalore, united a divided people. Grogu is Din's foundling, so he's now the second Force sensitive Mandalorian. I'm not sure how this is going to go, but Boba Fett, Din Djarin or Grogu will likely be the one to bring Mandalore back together, and I think that that is why this episode is here, to get us thinking, but also to set up season 3 of the Mandalorian. This episode was WIZARD! I cannot wait to see what happens next week. Bryce Dallas Howard did an amazing job with this episode and the one she had in the Mandalorian season 2. I hope Disney lets her do her own thing some day. She's a natural! While this isn't a fair comparison, I'm going to make it anyway =P She did a better job than her dad did with Solo, but to be fair, Ron didn't start Solo; he just finished it.

I think Luke is going to explain to Din that at the time he took Grogu under his care, he wasn't aware of the full extent of Grogu and Din's relationship. Even though Jedi are technically supposed to forego all attachments, I doubt Luke himself subscribes to that idea. After all, it was an unbreakable bond between a father and son that ultimately took down Palpatine. Knowing that, I just can't see Luke instructing Grogu to cast his love for his "father" aside. He, of all people, understands the importance and significance of that bond, which is why I believe he'll recommend Grogu return to Din's care.

Yes, it has to do with the wilders connection to the saber. I usually think of it as emotional resonance. The blade will respond in reaction to its holders state of mind and emotion. That is why it seemed so heavy. Plus, in general it is more difficult for a non force user like Din Jarin to master it vs obi wan or darth maul.

That part such a good callback to the episode with Sabine from Rebels where they were training. "You are not fighting with a simple blade, as much as you are directing a current of power. Your thoughts, your actions, they become energy. As you no doubt probably know by now from research and other comments, the Darksaber isn't like a lightsaber, the current of energy from the crystal inside is connected to the weilder's thoughts and feelings - which have an effect on that current of energy in the blade the wielder controls. So it seems that if things are out of sync between you and the blade, it'll get heavy/resistant to your brute force actions, it's a really cool concept. I had to watch that Rebels ep again. Oh, I just thought of something, probably not going to happen but, if he and Luke meet again, dude, Luke can give him some Darksaber combat training! That is ONE SWEET F***ING RIDE, those scenes where he was just cutting loose, jetting through everything, weaving and flying superfast, wow, exhilarating! Honestly, I was expecting Mando to make a really badass entrance while Boba Fett was engaged in the war vs the Pykes, but DAMN, we got a whole Mando episode!!! It has a totally different vibe from the regular Boba Fett episodes hahahaha, a nice injection of a faster pace. I'm not 100% sure we'll get to see Mando visit Grogu though, I hope he does because then we'll see Luke and his other students, POSSIBLY A YOUNG BEN SOLO? He'd be like 4 or something lol, little Kylo Ben A lot of people are saying they don't like the Mandalorian creed that he follows, too strict, he should opt out, but I dont know, I mean, I find, according to his character, he's a man of honour and integrity, and whilst following the creed can be difficult, it's something he's deeply connected to, and I like that he's got the strength of character to follow through with it, even when things are tough sometimes. Cause you know that if he can follow the creed, then he can follow on his other promises, whether it's getting a bounty or helping Fett. He said he feels loyalty and solidarity to his people so, I really hope we get to see him get to the 'waters' on Mandalore - maybe set up for season 3? Anyway, SUPER DOPE EPISODE ps. I love how, for a moment, Madison likely really believed that the master Armourer was going to forge a Beskar ball for Grogu, love it!

I have a feeling Grogu is a quick learner and may have already mastered many skills by now in such a short time. Grogu actually had much of the training, but may just need to unlock it all after all those years of isolation and non-practice. How cool would it be if we get to see in Mando season 3 that Grogu perfectly handles the Dark Saber as if by instinct and like it was made for him? Tarre Visla was a Jedi and Mandalorian. Grogu is a Jedi and Mandalorian by adoption. So, what if Grogu is the perfect person who wield the Dark Saber? I know fans were speculating during Rebels that Sabine may have been a Jedi or force-sensitive and did not know it yet. What if that comes back into play and somehow gets referenced in Ahsoka and we learn Sabine is a Jedi. I do not think this will happen, but it would be cool if Ezra does show up in the Ahsoka series and we see that he somehow trains Mando in using the Dark Saber since Ezra did help Sabine. I do not think Mando will complete the ritual of redemption but wil meet Bo-Katan along the way and she will explain more about Mandalore and her ways to him and he will realize he does not need his helmet on always anymore. What I find most interesting is this series was made a good long while ago. So, the plan always was to have a Mando episode. I wonder if they somehow knew this Book of Boba Fett series may not be as beloved as The Mandalorian (though, I do enjoy it). But, I wonder if that was the case, why they waited until episode 5 for a Mando episode. I cannot wait for next week. I also have a feeling we may not see a full fight against the Pykes until much later in Mando season 3 or Book of Boba Fett season 2 and we will see a preliminary fight in the finale, but more recruiting will done in Mando season 3 and the Ahsoka series.

Bryce Dallas Howard really showed her directing chops right here ... :) Guess Grogu @ Baby Yoda who is now Luke Skywalker’s Padawan shall appear in Episode 6. Can’t wait for next week ... 👶🏻 According to Mandalorian lore, the Darksaber carried a curse if the user did not win it in battle ... 🗡 Sabine Wren stole it from Darth Maul in the Nightsister Lair on Dathomir ... 👹 Wren then presented it to Bo-Katan Kryze; the annointed leader of Mandalorian Resistance Against The Empire ... 👸🏼 Since Kryze wielded it without winning it - she brought its curse onto her planet and her people ... 🌋 The Armorer clearly blamed Kryze for The Great Purge Of Mandalore aka Night Of A Thousand Tears ... 😭 If you recall the ending of “The Mandalorian; Season 2”, Kryze didn’t accept the Darksaber when Din Djarin yielded it to her ... 🙅🏻‍♀️ She acknowledged her earlier blunder when she accepted it from Wren without a contest ... 🙇🏻‍♀️ Tellingly, she chose not to repeat her mistake ... 🤦🏻‍♀️ She took responsibility for the Siege Of Mandalore and the fate of her people ... 🙍🏻‍♀️ It would not surprise me if Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were to make guest appearances or cameos in “The Mandalorian; Season 3” ... 👫

This episode could have been the first episode of a new season of Mando. But by sliding it into the Book of Boba. then the viewers are fully caught up before the new season of Mando. Overall a good idea to have slide this in.

Early MAC squad reporting in ✨ *insert Madison's voice* dude this is clutch they covered quite a lot in this episode... pretty sure if this was on The Mandalorian show, it would take at least 4 episodes to cover lol MANDOOOOOOOO "that doesn't even look like me" I'm dead but tbh wouldn't it sound a bit racist to assume they all look alike to one another lol Yup, I remember enough about the Darksaber's history... Tarre Vizla made it, Shae Vizla took it back, and time brought it into the hands of Pre Vizla Ooh snap something for Grogu? Wait... That spear looked a lot bigger than the final product lol Omg that flashback scene with the TIE bombers and the Imperial droids walking through the wasteland was exactly like Terminator's Judgement Day and the war against Skynet AMAZING C'mon guys there aren't a lot of you right now you guys shouldn't be doing these honor fights to the death and kicking out Mando for the helmet thing... But the Vizla guy challenging him made sense, since it's been in his family time and again for a long long time Bruh he taking his damn time to give his weapons to airport security lol Ayyyyy it's the mechanic lady! And that droid is like the companion in Jedi Fallen Order (which I don't know too much about tbh) Duuuude a Naboo Starfighter?? Vintage thing right there... I wonder if it's the one Anakin used to blow up the droid control ship So Jawas ARE very furry under there... Good to know lol Lol the same pilot recognising Mando's voice... Also the fact that they don't report him because they're lazy haha Wait he's gonna go find Grogu now??

That Young XWing Pilot looks like the Same actor that was Lukes' Body Double for the finale of S2 Mandalorian.... If they are still using that guy I guarantee Luke is going to show up for Season 3 of the Mandalorian. But We prob wont see Luke in Book of Boba Fett, they need to finish Boba's story first. Maybe an after credit scene but I doubt it. Mando will probably show back up in the last episode to help.

I thought Groku would not become a Jedi and go with Mando. On the stars they go to help farmers. Because Groku didn't go and help Rey fight Snoke and Kairouren.

It was a fun episode but to me it felt more like Mando fan service, although there were cool little nostalgic throwbacks and references to TPM it didn't really go anywhere in moving forward with Fett and his goal in gathering muscle until the very end with the appearance of Fennec and her proposition.

Just thought of something, Pedro Pascal has been wanting more face time. Mando being expelled from his covert opens the door for more screen time with Mando without his helmet. Don’t think he’ll be rushing to Mandalore anytime soon.

just remember, this episode was like the jedi episode with asoka, so this episode is just a filler to show everything inbetween the fine line of missing plots and story. there is a reason why these are being shown, probably my guess, for the finale.
