also yes it's because of the crystal." "Energy constantly flows through the crystal. You're not fighting with a simple blade as much as you are directing a current of power. Your thoughts, your actions, they become energy. They flow through the crystal as well, and become a part of the blade." In other words, someone who lacks control and acceptance over their thoughts and feelings - or those with an undisciplined fighting style - will find the Darksaber heavier to hold, as all of that inner baggage channels into the blade, weighing it down.

This episode was both S3E1 of The Mandalorian (a recursive backdoor pilot?), and an unabashed love letter to Episode I - I think people can disagree over whether it fits as a Book of Boba Fett episode or not, but it was an absolutely fantastic Star Wars story. (And some great cinematography, storytelling, and effects, from the one-er when Mando is using the elevator, to the sweet moment of him holding at the package that's tied in a way that looks like Grogu, to how absolutely gorgeous the N-1's entire flight sequence was.) I love how they not only brought back references to all the cool parts of Episode I, but then they affectionately nod to the something that's generally mocked -- "Wizard" -- in a way that doesn't seem mean-spirited, and at least in my case got an appreciative chuckle out of me, even though that's my least-favorite SW movie. This episode also balanced two things *really* well. First, the old and the new: I love how it gave us a cornucopia of Star Wars references -- not just Ep. I and Mando, but also Jedi: Fallen Order, Rebels, Rogue One, womp-rats in Beggars Canyon, the freaking *long rod that Han tries to brace open the trash compactor with* -- but at the same time gave us stuff we've never seen before like the C-shaped ringworld and scenes on the open space catwalks. Second, the fantastic and the mundane: this episode does such a good job of alternating between the most every-day stuff -- a butcher shop that wouldn't be out of place in any period piece between the 1920s to today, an awkward elevator ride, airport & airplane hassles, rebuilding an antique junker in the garage, getting a speeding ticket -- and the type of amazing sci-fi spectacle Star Wars is known for -- Mando taking down a roomful of aliens, the amazing scene of the ringworld, a lightsaber vs beskar duel over an open starscape, the aforementioned gorgeous flight sequence across and above Tatooine). This episode was an absolute blast!

Honestly, when you think about it, even though Peli Motto kinda screwed him over, it's better for Din to help fix the Naboo Starfighter in one day, that way he's not constantly having to pay for a ticket ship ride in and out of planets. Especially, when his occupation involves a lot of space adventures. The only downside is that his ride can only carry about one bounty.

In the Star Wars Universe, all beings are connected to the force, even if they aren't "Force Sensitive", they explains this in Star Wars rebels. That means, that even for someone who is not Force Sensitive, the Kyber crystal in a lightsaber will have an effect on them. The lightsaber feels heavy for a non trained user because the crystal is constantly channeling energy, i.e. The Force, which is also drawn from the wielder of a lighsaber. So things like their thoughts, emotions, actions, etc.. it all affects the "ease" of how a lightsaber user can wield the weapon. In a sense its why its possible for non Force Sensitive to learn how to use a lightsaber, even if they'll never be as skilled with it as a trained Force User that is in better tune with, and is able to control their emotions. I found this episode extremely cool, and further added insight to the matter of how it is possible for a non force user to wield a lightsaber.

I wrote something in defense of Bo-Katan and her "flip-flopping" recently that helped me see her more clearly. Guessing she's going to be more important soon. The ep didn't have her in it but she is a big part of why the Mandalorian culture is what it currently is. A great example of a young idealist whos' beliefs didn't survive contact with the real world, joining Death Watch the terrorist precursor to The Watch at a very young age. She might not believe in the old creed of the Mandalorians anymore, but she still believes she can affect good by her actions, just like her sister did. So being a reactionary to her core, unlike her sister, but having lost her faith, her actions are all perfectly consistent with a real person. She reminds me a lot of Leon Trotsky. How she lost the saber is kind of a strange question. We haven't seen it but there's an event referenced in places called "The Great Purge of Mandalore" (or I guess now, The Night of a Thousand Tears). How she lost the saber isn't the question. How she's still alive at all would be a better one. Mandalore is sometimes a planet but on other occasions referred to as a collection of planets. If there's one faction the Empire feared possibly even more than the Jedi, it would have been a united Mandalore, something Bo was actually doing, successfully, before said genocide. So again, the question isn't how she lost the saber but how she's still alive at all, effectively being the Bonnie Prince Charlie of Mandalore.

10:47 @The Normies, This is why lightsabers are weapons of those who are Force sensitive. An old Jedi like Yoda was nimble AF the moment he let the Force move through him guiding his body and lightsaber throughout his bout with Dooku. Luke got zapped by that training droid in ANH because he wasn't connected to the Force, but the moment Obi-Wan put that helmet with the blast shield on Luke, obstructing his senses, Luke had no choice but to allow the Force to be his ally, allowing him to use the weapon gracefully and accurately. This episode had a lot and has me confused: 1) The songs of eons past foretold of the Mythosaur rising up to herald a new age of Mandalore. -Is Boba Fett that Mythosaur? Boba's the first Mandalorian we meet in Star Wars and he's also the first Mandalorian we see with a Mythosaur Signet. He's also a Mandalorian not recognized by either the former ruler of Mandalore and very likely the zealots. The Tuskens have completed Boba's training and he is now on a new path, which fits what the Armor was saying. 2) The Armorer recaps Tarre Vizsla's story, explaining that he was a Mandalorian of two cultures, Mandalore and the Jedi code and that he with the Darksaber ushered in a new area on Mandalore. Grogu is being set up to be the next Tarre Vizsla. Deep down, however, I still think Din is supposed to be the one to unite the broken Mandalorian tribes. What the Armor said might be misdirects, but I do think we have some real connections to past characters/events to characters we have now that are also in a state of transformation. Din isn't transforming, but still trying to discover who he is.

I am guessing right now, because Boba's present story hasn't been the main focus and Din no longer has the Covert or the Razorcrest for a home, that at the end of this season, Din Djarin will be living with Boba Fett at the palace! This sets up the Mandalorian season 3 being a great balance between Boba's new adventures and explaining Din's place amongst other Mandalorians. Also full episodes with Boba and Din on missions would be the greatest thing.

On the subject of Beskar being specifically for armor, the mandoa word for armor is "Beskargam," or Iron Skin, in the Legends continuity. Also, i highly doubt Whistling Birds can be counted as armor.

To be fair the idea of a Ringworld is not unique to the Halo IP. Technically, credit for that falls to the author Larry Niven and his novels. Regardless, it was really nice to see some new settings added to the lore. I'm always happy when Star Wars goes to places other than just Hoth and Tattooine.

I've always preferred "Star Trek" to "Star Wars" because "Star Wars" at times feels very one note. "Star Trek" delves into the culture, goes to different worlds, explores concepts of those worlds, etc. "The Book of Boba Fett" and "The Mandalorian" feels Star Trek-like in it's story telling and has added much needed lore to the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars IS inspired by history. Old Samurai movies like The Hidden Fortress and The Seven Samurai. George Lucas was obsessed by Akira K. The whole concept of the samurai down to Vaders helmet.

6:27 on a space station like that spinning would actually create artificial gravity by pushing those on the inside outward. Of course, Star Wars appears to be able to create artificial gravity easily on ships without spinning.

As others explained, The Darksaber and every other saber is basically a continuous current of energy that affects the weight of the blade. The Darksaber is also special in that it reads the emotions of it's wielder and can be affected by said emotion. One example is in the Clone Wars and Rebels, we see on a few occasions that the energy of The Darksaber starts to escape the blade making it look similar to electricity.

The Halo world is essentially built around a stable star. The day/night cycle is controlled by interspersed plates rotating along the inside of the ring in order to block the light.

Most Mandalorian armour is comprised of a mixture Beskar and Durasteel. Where as Dins armour is 100% pure Beskar. Along with the Dark Saber he is technically the most Mandalorian Mandalorian in the galaxy

Din Djarin reeeeally needs to sign up for TSA precheck.... If the Razor Crest was his workvan then the starfighter is his Hyabusa superbike, with NOS. Among all of the fan service notes in this episode, Is one that may have been missed was the reference to the original Superman movie (Clark v Train = Mando v Starliner) Here are some of the physics of lightsabers: 1. lightsaber blades are not weightless they are made of plasma, plasma is a state of matter, matter has mass. 2. Lightsaber blades are not static, the plasma is in motion from the emitter out to its calculated shape and back to the collection ring. Essentially it is a plasma chainsaw constantly in motion at an extreme rate of speed. It is this mass in motion that generates gyroscopic effects very different from a normal or even vibroblade. 3. In addition to the unnatural gyroscopic effect in hand there is also the explosive knockback generated when the lightsaber is actively cutting an object, flash-vaporizing matter in contact with the blade, unskilled wielders will actually bounce the blade rather than follow through for clean cuts. 4. further complicating things is the intense magnetic field used to shape and contain the lightsaber blade, making it difficult to maintain in contact with another blade or resistant/shielded items. Is it can skip, skitter, or even kickback like a chainsaw blade pressed against a steel plate.

As far as the ring station goes, it's got more in common with the Ringworld concept from Larry Niven's Ringworld books. Basically a circular ring station with a star at the center of its diameter (in this case a very small star or artificial source) that additionally has a series of large panels orbiting between the inner ring and the star. The panels, as they orbit, allow for an artificial day/night cycle as they allow or block light from the star.

If the ringworld is anything like the one from Larry Niven's series that predates Halo, they generates shadow zones by having smaller ring with shading panels that orbit closer to the star.

Nah, he was referring to the time he voluntarily took his helmet off to see Grogu face to face. That's a violation of the core beliefs they had literally been raised on, and Din recognises this too. Hence his reluctance to answer and his request for forgiveness. But he told the truth. Because he still believes in it too. It sucks, but I don't think this is the last we see of the Children of the Watch. Hopefully they will be convinced to come around somehow.

Episode 3 is my favorite prequel and second favorite Star Wars movie right after episode 5 (even with all the cringe meme level dialogue) simply because it just makes the Star Wars universe feel bigger and more alive than most of the other movies. There’s so much happening in the background. So many cool little details. And the aesthetics of it all is just great to me. Not to mention the musical score and sound design imo is top notch.
