I absolutely agree! .... i will make a "lets talk about" especially for the Boiler.... the boiler is easy... the valve system in the steamsome gets me crazy.... 5 minutes before i startet that video.... i was convinced in Changing anything.... but i deal like all time :"respect the plan" On that Design..... is one thing to say...: "if the design takes to long.... the design is wrong".... here comes evidence......

Brother, I liked your craftmanship too much. you are superb!! Kindly clear few of my doubts, though. 1. Please post one supplementary video of steam throttle valve assembly in more details. 2. In cylinder, you have not shown the exhaust hole and pipe to it. Thank you.

The exhaust goes through the "big spacer" in the front end between the frames, and from there in a T-Shape up through the smokebox. The Steamdome Throttle is something in the Plans that i can NOT recommend to build! Its over complicatet and verry theoretical Design. I was in contact with a lot guys building that engine and made only errors on that Part. And spezial CNC Companys wouldnt made the parts because the necessary accuracy for that Kind of "open valve system" is not to achive. (Perhaps with a bigger Budget and some changes) so i Designet another one, but i am not happy with, therefore the project waits until i find some better solution. Sry...

Hi, I've been following your build, and this is the very first comment I've ever made on youtube. Your doing a fine job, but in this episode I'm seeing something that greatly concerns me. What I'm seeing that you've made your boiler end caps and parts of the fire box from what appears to be brass, which seems from what I can tell a change from Julius' plans. Brass can not be used in boiler construction, it simply isn't safe. This is due to the action of boiling water on the zinc in the brass; boiling water dissolves zinc, weakening the metal. I urge you to remake the brass parts from copper, as Julius specified in his plans. By all means contact Julius, I'm sure he'd agree on this point. Good luck with the rest of your build!

+1 on Timothy's comments "...Copper boilers are defined as boilers constructed entirely from copper. The only exception is the use of phosphor bronze or gunmetal for bushes and stays..." What is the design working pressure for De Waal's boiler? "...Brass boilers are defined as any boilers that use brass anywhere in their structure... Brass boilers may only be Low Pressure boilers..." "...The maximum working pressure for boilers in this category (i.e. brass boilers) is 200 kPa (29 psi)..." I would forget about asking De Waal and satisfy myself that I am happy with the design :-) BTW quotes above are from AMBSC code for Sub - Miniature Boilers (which yours is...)

@@dreamsteam8272 I don't know, looks that way to me too on the plans I have. Might be the dome is ok to make from brass. You could substitute bronze for the brass, it's fine in boilers.

@@timothylynch6228 i will think about it.... but one fact.... lets all calm down.... its not a Rocket.... and its not a heavy duty loco that Drives Miles and miles with Passengers or on Events.... its just a "first go" and will perform maybe 2 or 3 rounds on a circle in my garden.... untill the next project rises.... so.... i could leave it like that.... Just because..... the Community is important for me... because of verry good comments like yours that i am learning from, its my school... and i dont want to waste that good Knowledge.... i will made this Parts in copper! And make a " correction video" of it! Thanks a lot!
