THE BOULDER IS VERY APPRECIATIVE OF THIS COMMENT

So glad to finally see Toph's introduction. She's many people's favourite character for a reason (including me), which is saying a lot considering how many amazingly well written characters this show has. Easily one of best written characters ever.

Her and Bumi are quite evenly matched. But then again Bumi has experience. They showed them sparing once in the comics. But was ended abruptly.

@@yellowcard8100 At her current level, yes. If Boomi in his prime Vs Toph in her prime, it's a no-contest. Toph wins with Seismic Sense hacks and metal bending.

It's so cool how they made each bending style have different kinds of movements and stances. On top of that Toph has a unique stance in the show which is apparently based on a martial art designed for the blind. Her unique movements and humor around the character just cements her as my favourite. I like most other characters in the show but it's not even close for me.

Southern Praying Mantis. It wasn't designed for the blind, but according to legend it was created by a blind woman. It does however focus on using the hands and arms, with limited kicking... and any kicks being low and fast so the feet remain on the ground as much as possible (which is of course great for Toph). (funny thing btw is that Toph is listed under "famous practitioners" on the Southern Praying Mantis wiki page, hah)

@@Colp2 Yeah, the use of real world martial arts applied to bending styles was an inspired touch and elevates the animation and world lore.

Toph senses her environment in all directions at the same time. She's not used to tracking or fighting anything but earth benders. But, she learns quickly. Her control is insane because it takes a ton of control to beat the other benders without accidentally killing them.

Given how quickly the wrestlers were able to find her, I'm willing to be Shin Fu knows who Toph is and takes a significant cut of her winnings to buy his silence. So, if she splits the money with someone else, he feels he's being cheated out of his share.🤷‍♀️

The voice actors for Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph were all young during this show. Zuko's Dante Basco was a bit older, but it still worked, because he has a naturally young sounding voice. When the show began the voice actors were Aang(12), Katara(17), Sokka(18) & Toph(11).

Toph's introduction, let's go!!! Now this show is not only great, it has become legendary

Gotta love the plot hole of " hey these guys just tried to kidnap my daughter, let's hire them to go get her"

The Boulder is voiced by either Mick Foley, Cactus Jack, or Dude Love. I can't remember which.

The Boulder is voiced by Mick Foley, a legendary wrestler with several personas, the most well-known of which is Mankind, whose mask was the reference for a character's mask in another show you're watching: Spandam from One Piece. Funny you got to both of these characters at pretty much the same time. Mick Foley actually commented on the reference on Twitter once, jokingly asking, "Does this count as gimmick infringement?"

Our bandit has finally arrived! 😁 And yeah, The Boulder is voiced by Mick Foley, a legend of the wrestling industry. Though considering the time period this season first aired, I think it would have been more amusing if they got John Cena to voice the character instead, lol. They probably could have gotten him booked too, since this was a few years before he began making a huge splash in Hollywood....

Mick Foley voiced the Boulder. Very well-liked wrestler known for his characters Mankind, Cactus Jack, Dude Love, and probably others. Kinda a freakshow but a lot of wrestling fans consider him a very nice, funny guy. It's actually hilarious to hear him "mocking" The Rock's vocal delivery. Also, 7:11 --- Sokka's "water tribe....!"

“Island of Ligma” is crazy

Toph has a very unique earthbending style than the others. She has more fluid stances while all the others we’ve seen have stiff and firm ones. She is definitely suited to teach an airbender!

Does anyone know why she couldn't sense a simple belt thrown at her, but she was dodging rocks thrown to her left and right during her battles?

My favorites have always been Sokka and Toph. XD Toph is so badass and Sokka is so funny, and the two together as a duo tend to be great, as they bounce off each other so well.

Damn, you're having a really hard time understanding Toph was keeping her skill and activities a secret. The goons didn't know she's rich, it's perfectly understandable to think she threw the match. Her teacher wasn't ignoring her, she just wasn't showing off.

Still no Aang cosplay on these reactions. Hopefully that's coming soon but I don't know how far ahead you are on these videos. Gotta paint that arrow on your bald head, man. Anyway, yay Toph. Since she definitely didn't run away but totally has permission from her parents to travel the world and get involved in a world war at age 12, I look forward to you getting to know her better. She adds a great new dynamic as a second girl and a bender of a third type. Will she fall in love with Sokka like every other unrelated female who's ever met him? Will she and Katara get along or be rivals? What will her teaching style be with Aang and how will he relate to her as a student?

Zuko as a character still better. More well written.

Iroh is still the best character. The man who could have been king, the dragon of the west, lost his son but adopts his nephew as a son. His visit to the spirit world has become legendary. And he plays the white lotus.
