Glenn hughes didnt quit he was let go, glenn had a bad cocaine habit at the time and the stipulation to him singing in sabbath was he couldnt do cocaine, but he was allowed to drink booze, undersupervision of tony or the manager. Long story short their was an altercation between glenn and the manager and glenn got his nose broken causing blood and mucas to pool around his vocal chords then the blood dried causing him not to be able to sing for i think 1-2 yrs. There are interviews of glenn and tony recounting this story and footage of his performance that night with blood in his throat. Ray gillen was broughtin to finish the tour with glenn still techinally still in the band.

Love the Ray Gillen takes on the bonus cd Deluxe Eternal Idol. Odd considering the title guide you discussed a Dio record anyway.

I would give Headless Cross full marks. Tony Martin is a great singer for sure. His latest solo album Thorns also shows his interesting songwriting ideas - definitely worth checking out!

I've always loved the Tony Martin albums (sans Forbidden, like most). They're really soaring, majestic works. And yes, Tony was undeniably the most skilled singer Sabbath ever had, and easily my favorite.

Do people under rate the Dio era still? I guess there are people who under rate anything that ain't Ozzy.....but almost all these albums I'm chatting about here I prefer to for example 'Never say die' or 'technical ecstasy'.....but this all said there isn't really any Sabbath album I actively dislike....

I agree. Tony Iommi is Black Sabbath!!! Ozzy & and Sharon do everything in their power to rewrite Black Sabbath's history and discredit the non Ozzy albums and aggressively and disrespectfully shit on their vocalists mainly RJD. I guess the fact that Ozzy is the worst vocalist in the bands history must make them (paranoid) and so defensive. It's really laughable, if you think about it, but also proves money can't buy everything. Ozzy's legacy is cemented as one of the greatest, so show some class, be proud of it, and let it do your talking for you. There is no need to shit on and try to erase or cancel others. Having said that, there's only 2 albums in the entire Sabbath catalog that I do not really like and that's "Never Say Die" & "Forbidden," and it is not because of the vocalist or their performance on either of those and even those albums have some good stuff on them. Take some time and read up on Ray Gillen.. (there's some crazy shit out there). Another Good One Alan!

I have all of these on CD. Born Again is a mixed bag, but far from terrible, but Eternal Idol, Seventh Star, Headless Cross and Tyr are fantastic albums! I'm so glad that they get a re-release abd more attention. Cross Purposes is decent, but Forbidden is mediocre at best, but even that has some good rifs. They whole story of this band is so fascinating. To think that there was a tile when Sabbath had to cancel shows... There are many thibgs that could be better today, but thankfully the love of classic metal lives on stronger than ever, so that old masters get their deserved attention.

Criminally overlooked and include myself in that. I remember those albums being released to ridicule by the magazines. I was pnly interested in thrash at the time. You have to respect tony iommi for keeping going. You have to question the mnagement or guidance he was recieving. Thanks for another great video. Thats my listening fior today sorted out.

Some of the songs on Forbidden are not that bad. It has its place. 'Can't get close enough' and 'I won't cry for you' are probably my favorite songs. The production and mix was bad, and Tony was not sounding as great as on earlier records. I will still definitely check out the remixed version that's coming out soon.

Check out “Eighth Star,” when ya got a moment. Love Tony Martin era with Eternal Idol and Headless being my favorites. Ray Gillen purposely infected women with AIDS. The families of the victims sued his estate and part of the law suite was that none of the albums that he sang on could ever be released again! Very weird.

@@AlanAverillNemtheanga He was not a good person. He knew about his illness (AIDS), took his pills and had sex with a girls without telling them about it. One of groupies died because it. I remember that on Eddie Trunk show was hold an interview with Jake E. Lee I guess. He said that because of agree between families of his victims and band there is no reissiues of their albums. There are not in the streaming services too. I checked on my Tidal and there is only a band, but without music. He lied his bandmates about it too, when they asked him. Yeap, but his vocals on the album rules. BTW: If you can, you should read before the talk with Addi bio of Tony Iommi - Iron Man. It's not typical biography, it's more like pack of the impressions, thoughts and funny situations about Sabbs.
