Another thing to note is that the period where Daemon was somewhat directionless was the time when Lyonel Strong was Hand. He had no real purpose when Otto was out of power and a relatively honest and loyal man was in the position.

Honestly it was very funny of Arrax to not only go for the eye, but the same eye that Luke took from Aemond. RIP to a comedy king

I know I'm commenting on my own comment, but it occurred to me that Vhagar could actually be blinded or impaired in that eye now. The eye is the most vulnerable spot on a dragon because is still an eye, even if it's surrounded by scales harder than Valyrian steel. I would imagine that a blast of fire directly to the eye at close range would cause damage even for a dragon as old as Vhagar. And if she was blinded in that eye as well, it would not only be poetic, but it could play into ~certain~ future events in a way that would be really cool and meaningful.

​@@JoshuaKevinPerry They aren't saying she's hemorrhaging, but you continue to bleed for a few days after giving birth due to the internal wound from the placenta separating from the womb, not to mention any other internal injuries sustained (tearing, etc). It isn't usually a life threatening amount of blood, but it's akin to a particularly heavy period and can cause anemia.

Plus it hurts like hell for a few days (again, sometimes longer depending on the birth). Considering I popped out 2 kids of my own, I’ve got personal experience with this. It’s not easy, but I lived to tell the tale.

"Omg that's so cringe I'm going into labor" made me nearly shoot carbonated water out my nose. GODDD I missed you yelling too. "TELL THAT TO MY AMNIOTIC SACK" 👌

Nah, tbh. I dont think he was really out for revenge. I feel a sincere apology from Luke and Luce would have been enough but instead, he got another unconsented playful banter with the pig at the dinner table (ep 8) that basically seeled their status in Aemonds mind. But death was still not on his mind. I felt it was clear that Aemond just wanted to scare the guy shitless. I don't even think he would've taken Lucerys eye even.

Maybe back in that moment he just hadn't had the time to realize how much of a problem it was to lose an eye, how much it would affect him throughout his life, and besides, he was still happy that he got Vhagar. When this episode took place it had been long enough for his lost eye to have (metaphorically) festered and caused him so much built-up resentment, especially seeing how throughout the years Luke didn't seem to face any equivalent consequences or misfortunes to make up for his loss.

​@@rexibhazoboa7097 I think Ewan Mitchell, the actor who plays Aemond said he never get over the eye thing because Luke never got punished for it. It isnt so much that he lost a limb (which fucking sucks obviously) but that Luke got away with it with 0 consequences. Alicent passed on all the resentment she feels toward Rhae for her perceived freedom to her kids, so obviously now that Vizzy is no longer around to give Rhae and her camp a do-anything pass, Aemond finally gets to exact justice for what happened. An apology will mean nothing to him when he believes Luke and his family have spent years living outside the rules he and his family work so hard to uphold.

Daemon’s behavior was so “crazy hurt with grief” that I’ve seen in other drama queens (I come from a large family of them). They lash out, they’re quick to assume a sick person was “murdered”, and many bad decisions are made. At least my relatives don’t have dragons.

I read somewhere that they cast Emma as adult Rhaenyra because they looked a lot like Sian Brooke who played queen Aemma, and in episode 8 I always thought that when Viserys enters the throne room and looks at Rhaenyra he notices how much she looks like her mother or something like that.

“Stepduncle grunkle Daemon” is going to take up permanent residence in my vocabulary now. 10/10

It's interesting to see which monarchs they draw legitimacy from. Otto and Aegon went for the conqueror’s crown to link Aegon directly to the conqueror instead of linking him to Viserys (the guy who did not name him heir). Viserys took Jaehaerys’s crown probably as a sign of respect for his grandfather. “Aegon Targaryen, Second of his name, direct descendant and namesake of the greatest king ever (and male)” has a ring to it. The greens draw legitimacy from the institution of Targaryen rule itself, not King Viserys. Rhaenyra on the other hand draws legitimacy from Viserys because he named her his heir.

Also the blacks have jahaerys' crown. Rhaenyra said she wanted to bring about a new order. Jahaerys largely brought about a new order. The faith militant was abolished, the first night was abolished, a single set of laws was established for everyone in westeros, and most importantly roads were built.

There is no way Aemond can see below Vhagar at the angles he’s looking especially with one eye especially in the storm and especially without glasses. It’s just wings and neck

I loved the mini analysis on what the crown means to Daemon. To him it’s favor and family and attention not necessarily the power the crown represents to everyone else. So the crown is something he chases for love and family but he gives up the power for his family. He’s just a little cinnamon roll with war crimes for flavor.

I know it's easy to meme about releases, especially in the forever-edging GoT community, but you've made something amazing and this is a triumph and a herculean effort. Thanks for staying the path and entertaining all of us. There's so many little jokes and bits throughout that stabbed me right in the ribs (rogue princes, smash//pass, the WHOLE table rant and framing, etc) and a lot of fantastic insights, too. Never a fun time. Make sure you don't hit that 48 hour mark - things get a bit weird from there on. I think my 'record' is about 60 hours, and I was full on hallucinating at that point. Being chronically ill isn't great.

My complaint about this episode is that Rhaenyra sees Otto Hightower, the brains behind the enemy's operation come to her as a messenger and *doesn't* immediately take him prisoner. Then again, show Rhaenyra is quite different than the _bewk_ one.

Just chiming in here to note that, while Aemond is clearly panicking once Vhagar slips his control (following Arrax's desperate blast of fire, a smol creature naturally being terrified of the much much *much* bigger one trying to chomp it to bits) - while he does frantically try to get her to stop in English/the common tongue, simply *because* he is freaking out and obviously losing control of the situation....he *does* also resort to Valyrian commands as well - e.g. 'dohaeris' and 'daor'. It's just that, obviously, at that point *nothing* had any hope of working to rein her in - Valyrian or common....because that idea of control that he - and every Targaryen - had ever had was, of course, aught but an illusion.

I stopped a 3-hour documentary to watch this as soon as it popped up Love you lots glambor❤
