The sonic layering and rhythmic variety is unique - and very Black Dog. What FSOL did with soundscapes back then, The Black Dog did with rhythm. This generation of artists deserve more recognition, for they have influenced today's pop landscape to a very large extent.
Got this in 1995 and listen to it regularly. Light years ahead of its time. Chase the Manhattan still transports me to another plane.
Love this album so much for being spacious. One of my favourites along with Plaid's Not For Threes
WTF. 19 year old me thought I was so cool hunting down a copy of this CD in Australia in 2011... now it's just AVAILABLE???(hipster tears). Barbola Work is my fave it's so weird.
Black Dog Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, Mouse on Mars, Boards of Canada, and of course The Orb and Orbital. Favourite music of that beautiful times of acid Dreams;-)
Definitely one of the best electronic albums to come out of the 1990’s.
What an album, a wonderful journey spanning 28 years ✨🪐✨
This is almost 30 years old and it's still fresher than most music nowadays.

It's a wonderful album but c'mon, this reeks of 90s and you know it.

I continue enjoying it !! El sonido afilado y metálico. Los ritmos quebrados y las melodías !! Thanks to the Band and Warp Records ....
I have listened to a lot of IDM especially from this time. I really could never find anything that topped this, but thankfully for me it was a nice treat because it took a long time for me to "get" this album. I think Black Dog are the biggest pioneers there ever were for this type of music too. They were so early and did so much oddball stuff, yet surprisingly quite thoughtful too. Look up "Ambience with Teeth" who was doing this in 1989 / 1990? Hopefully someone can grab the torch of this early stuff and take it even further...
Some songs from this and other Warp records were used in a little-known 1998 game called Hardwar, which I fished out of a bargain bucket one day. As a kid I always thought the music was made specifically for it; it's surreal, and it fits the atmosphere of the game so well. Hardwar's kind of like elite, still supported by a small community, and pretty good actually. Also has some excellent FMVs you can find on YT.
One of my favourite records, the varied loops, this specific point in time is special ❤ you can really jump inside the time vault
One of my favorite albums of all time.
we live in a spoiled future where i can click inside a computer on an album i loved from the day it came out..and hear it instantaneously ha..old farts
Had a Black Dog sticker that came with RAD (?) skateboarding magazine back then. Discovered the music & followed the 90s path of Mo'Wax, Cup Of Tea etc. after that. Good times!
What would we have done without Warp Records
Good god one of the absolute gems of early Warp. I bought this on CD and practically wore it out. Thanks for posting it.
As a zoomer, thank you for posting this. Full album uploads are superior to segmented tracks.

Definitely. Disappointing when you're looking for an album and you find it but broken up per track. With all of the petty KZread ads in between of course 🤮
(0:52) pretty cool that The Black Dog got the Squid Sisters to work with them at such an early stage in their career
Fabuleux 🎉 Thanks from France 🎉🎉
barbola work es la mejor canción electrónica de la historia
This is good in so many ways...
It's not like I haven't been listening to this for the past few decades anyway, but thanks!
I remember hearing this when it came out in a little indie record shop in Vancouver. Talking to shop owner who said he thought it was great and I said it was 'meh'. I was totally wrong. It's genius.
発売当時アナログ盤で購入しました! 懐かしいです❤
He picked it all up, in his pickup truck
brilliant- i've kept the tab open and listened to it over the course, i should i say span, of a few days. CHESH 🙂 is my favorite
Chase the Manhattan always been a favourite.
wooo - it's been on my list to listen through! I remember coming across the album cover over 20 years ago and making a note of the album.
I remember this well, coming home in 1995 from a job at Safeway to my council flat on a warm summer's evening to find my mum excitedly standing with the squared-off parcel in her hand. Dad had only just left home for another woman, which was fine given the physical abuse he met out to a cowering family of 6. We were still in shocked relief over his departure, coming to terms with how to survive in the difficult economic and emotional environment. The abuse my brother received affected him for many years, so much so that he dresses as a rubber-clad dog and likes to be led around on a leash. Formal help is too expensive. Anyway, I popped my first ketamine the evening I received this...the experience transcendental. It led to a slippery slope of addiction issues but, as my sponsor says, just 'stay away from the hypotonic thump.' It's hard, right? When it hits you you feel no pain. I'm 17 months sober now, and there is always the temptation around to get back into suppository drugs, but I'm trying. We should all try harder.

I think beeing addicted when you want to stop using but somehow you can't get rid of the damn habit and than your addicted. One can maybe learn to say no but it is the question of the mechanism of ego depletion of which if spreak of When you are confronted with catching up with someone that deals drugs, you can maybe say no and the next time too, but when you have to perform a hard choir and when you then afterwards see a dealer you cant say no again, because the all the willpower was used for the ta😊sk when you for a periode of time have less free wil and the abillity to make wise desitions lessens also. When you feel powerless, now you know why, because of ego depletion.
10:42 love it!!
