@@maccagrabme I agree. Also, this stuff is dark as heck for the average listener (as in, hard to stumble upon). I don't even remember how I stumbled upon Apex Twin, I think I found "Windowlicker" somewhere. Ten years later, thanks to the youtube algorithm and user comments in Apex Twin videos, I've discovered Autechre.

An utterly sublime collection. Autechre have incredible sound design, and you can hear how it developed and morphed and expanded during the course of this. Autechre are definitely one of the absolute greatest.

Even crazier is to think that these aren't the actual tracks, rather mixes containing mostly unreleased tracks. Makes you wonder how many unreleased mixes they have too. Sean and Rob must *really* like their craft.

@@JasonBoon02 agree on that. There was an interview in the 90s, might have been sound on sound, where they were talking about their studio techniques and ideas.... in super deep. Just an amazing approach really and a bs-free zone. FSOL impressed me also on that level.

I come back to this every once in a while and I'm just left in a state of awe every time. Being a musician and acknowledging the fact this was made with an old Enoniq sampler, a couple old Roland synths and drum machines and a mixer is very, very humbling lol

I can't believe how modern and crisp this sounds given the time frame during which this was recorded. The rhythm section is sooo 2010's, almost trap-like and at times it sounds almost proto-d&b.
