@@deathmetalanddoom Literally every single album was fucking amazing. There aren't many bands you can listen to that don't even have a bad song. I still remember when I started playing guitar, more than 15 years ago. I got my first computer, and I used to watch metallica live videos on youtube, enchanted by such magic. Many years later, I became a decent guitarist, I played thousand of hours, in dozen of bands and part of that magic disappeared. But now I watch Brandon playing this killer song, and I can feel these old sensations coming back, and I am enchanted again, after all those years. Magic does exist!

I've had the privilege of seeing Dahlia live and I was right in front of Brandon the entire set, I play guitar so I alway's make it a point to stand right in front of the guitarists to check out their playing...this dude is absolutely FLAWLESS...every solo that came up he executed to perfection, didn't miss a single note. He plays with ZERO tension in his hands so his playing just flows with so much ease that you would think he could play this stuff in his sleep. I am a HUGE fan of Ryan's but Brandon filled that void easily. I'm extremely hyped for the new album and I hope these guy's come back to central New York during this next album cycle.

However, TBDM and Cattle Decapitation are just so far ahead of the rest with their sound. @@travistoole Eventually you'll find an approach that works for you. I used to have trouble sitting down and trying to write a lead that was technical and coherent because I basically treated it as an opportunity to show off and I was never happy with what I wrote. Once I was old enough to stop taking myself so seriously I decided to just improvise on recordings. That turned out to be the only way I learned. Now when I record the lead I play the rhythm back and record improvised leads over it repeatedly. As I go along I can re-use the bits I like and it slowly builds into something I'm happy with. If you mean you have difficulty learning leads or with nuances like bends, vibrato, etc. the improv method helped with that as well because I had to trust my hands and my own musicality and those skills naturally improved. If you're proficient enough to riff then you can solo. Whether you'll appreciate your riffs or your leads more is TBD. There's nothing wrong with riff worship.

Such a great guitarist…he’s up there with Jeff Loomis as my current top two guitarists in the world of metal right now. Can’t wait to see him live at Irving Plaza 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Brandon, can you please provide insight into the intro to your lead on sunless empire as far as what effects are in play. I am very basic as far as setup and want to know if that type of slide up is even achievable without the likes of a sustainic or a tube amp. I am playing through a marshall solid state with a digitech death metal pedal circa 2005(super high gain) and a boss noise suppressor through a wireless Shure system.
