The coronavirus may have canceled the rest of my semester but it can't cancel the new Black Dahlia single, and it sure can't keep me from getting right to learning it! Here's Brandon's solo from Child of Night, played along to the song once and then played again in isolation a second time along with a scrolling tab. Definitely some old school TBDM vibes in this track and a nice solo as per usual--still waiting on Brandon to go crazy in a song though, so far the first two singles he's been very restrained. Either way, still enjoyed the melodic aspects to this one and the ending arpeggio sequence is a bit of a finger-twister!

I agree man, very cool pattern and nice chord choice!
Incredible job. Brandon was so melodic on this album. He was pretty shreddy and nuts on nightbringers.

Thanks! Yeah, I love his work on both albums, but I think they’re a bit different stylistically.

@@ChrisJonesGuitarist yes I agree, but at least these albums show his versatility. Btw I'm still trying to figure out that final sweep/run you do at the end of the solo. It's pretty difficult for such a short solo.
@ChrisJonesGuitarist

It’s tricky! Are you struggling with ascending or descending?
@edima

@@ChrisJonesGuitarist the descending part from the low c string. Once I'm on the higher strings I can follow along with the tempo.

@@ChrisJonesGuitarist keep up the good work! absolute love brandons style, been looking all over to find tabs for his solos, but only managed a few tabs. found a couple of his improvs tabbed too. learning his work has really boosted my playing.

Me too man, he's definitely shaped my playing and writing a lot. Such an incredible and underrated player, this generation's Marty Friedman imo
probably a very stupid question but do you find being that high up on the neck awkward feeling? I have a had time squeezing my fingers like that together and still hitting notes accurately.

It will be at first, but you'll get used to it! Make sure to learn your scales within a key, and when you do, be sure to practice them on the high frets too. It'll make learning solos way easier.
Awesome man, played it so clean. Just curious what effects you were using for the tone?
@ChrisJonesGuitarist

Thanks man! Just light reverb to simulate ambient room sound then delay. Some subtle EQing after that in the signal chain as well
