Craziest gendered thing I’ve come across had to have been the Dr Pepper ‘for men’. They called it ‘Dr Pepper 10’ and the announcement post for it was like ‘24 bold flavors- only 10 MANLY calories’ which is just insane for a soda btw. I remember one day I accidentally drank some of it and didn’t realize this Dr Pepper was for MEN ONLY- but instead of exploding ( as all women do when taking men’s products instead of women’s), nothing happened. Anyways that’s how I found out I was trans.

That's the real gender reveal. If a man drinks it and explodes, sorry, you're a woman. If a woman drinks it and doesn't explode, funny story, you're actually a man. And if you are either man or woman and only explode a little bit, welcome to the inside of the gender spectrum.

I think this is why most little girls go through that “I hate pink and girl stuff” phase whether it’s true or not, cause it’s shoved down our throats for so long that we put our feet down and stop

Bro, you're so right. It's also part of the deal with girls that go through an "I'm not like the other girls" phase. The traditionally "girly" things and related things are pushed at them or seem to be pushed at them all the time, and so they end up vehemently rejecting it. It really sucks.

My favorite quote is from my sociolinguistics prof who started our course by saying "Gender is a made up construct and you'll just have to accept that and move on". He was great, and great at teaching too. I grew up very conservative christian and the gender norms that were pushed on me as a closeted person made me so miserable up until 23 when I moved out. The only salvation I had was my dad who, after divorcing my mom, always let me wear and play with whatever toys I had. He'd let me join him in the garage and help with his car if I wanted to, but would also help me play with my barbie house if I wanted to play with that. He's still very traditional, but he's always tried his best to never force me to be more feminine than I want to be, and since I came out he's grown so much because I'm his child, whereas my mom won't ever accept it nor be on my side in confrontations with my extreme relatives (if that ever were to happen). I'm breaking the stereotype of lgbtq people not having a supportive dad, and I love that for me.

I also hate when sports are gendered. There are sports for girls and boys, but as a teenage girl sometimes when I say “Oh yea I play soccer too!” to someone they’re like “Soccer’s for men.” (real story btw :) ). It’s tiring to hear people say softball is easier than baseball, yes some parts are, but some parts aren’t THEY ARE DIFFERENT SPORTS! I’m just sick of hearing it because if women weren’t allowed to play it, why’d they make sports for women. Sorry for the vent, that’s just all my opinion.
@MisterMistopher
2 ай бұрын
Here to say I completely agree. As a boy I really felt like I was expected to just know all the sports teams by heart and tune into games and get really into games but during practices I'd always wait for it to be over. I feel like sports shouldn't be treated like a gendered activity. Some people are just not interested in something like that. It turns girls away from something they could really enjoy and forces pressure on boys to do something not all of them want to do, all in great worship of the mighty Y chromosome. Although that's basically the story of gender norms in a nutshell

When I went off to college, a family friend got me a tool set ~for her~. Bright pink plastic everywhere. The grip on the pliers handles twists and slides with the slightest pressure, the screwdriver head warped after assembling a few bookshelves, and the utility knife casing was so flimsy I didn't trust it to hold together. It's like they made it to sit on a shelf and never be used.

Yeah. I saw that for the first time when I was 60 years old and working in an office. I was sorting through a filing cabinet for things to toss out and this pink abomination of a toolkit came up. I couldn't believe it. I had my own tools for simple household repairs/picture hanging since my twenties and my toolbox was my favorite color - blue. I read Consumer Reports before I bought my tools and got the good stuff. Apparently some office supply company thought pink would be a good color for the presumed female office manager if she had to tighten a bolt.

The worst gendered product I've come in contact with is for sure "Pinky Gloves". It was a product on German Shark Tank and essentially a pink one-time-use plastic glove to remove a tampon with (of course, it was pink), so women wouldn't have to touch their 'gross' hygiene products and (of course more importantly) so men didn't have to see a tampon in the bathroom bin. The male sharks were ecstatic and called it revolutionary, but after the episode aired, the company had to backtrack and apologise pretty quickly. dogs arent even sexually dimorphic ffs😭 why are we imposing gender roles onto them as an interesting side note, i have a cat and a snake, and ive noticed that even besides the general rule that unknown gender of animal=male, people are significantly more likely to gender my snake as male and my cat as female, even though in truth its the reverse. i think its because we associate being gracile, soft and temperamental with being feminine, and being primarily composed of muscle, teeth and anger issues as being masculine, regardless of how aware we may be of those stereotypes or how true they actually are. its kinda funny how animals who do not have the concept of gender whatsoever get lumped in with our cultural assumptions about what it means to be a man or woman. I suppose the animals themselves dont really care either way though.

“What if there was a version of the Bible that didn’t say it was wrong to be gay” ……..everyone from the US before 1942: “who wants to tell him”
I was eating an orange and the juice hit this video for me, fate brought me here and so did my orange
My favourite colour is pink, so I bought my puppy a pink harness even though “but he’s a boy!” A random stranger came up to us one day and mistook my dog as female, so I corrected them and said he was male. The man then replied “Oh, so your dog is gay”. 😑 It’s a DOG, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t know what colour he’s wearing.

I don't think dogs can even see pink. Aren't they colorblind by human standards?

Next time, reply with, "Yes, I have a gay dog" and just stare back with zero mirth in your expression. My dog is male but also a Pomeranian, one of the fruitiest dog breeds out there. People always assume from his appearance and his pink/purple/flowery/glittery gear that he's female. But you're right, the colors of the collars/leashes/harnesses are for the HUMANS, not the dogs. They dgaf and they also don't have any concept of gender.

Omg seriously. My male dog wears a pink watermelon harness and a pink Valentine’s collar with a pink heart bandanna cause its cute and he looks good in pink and the amount of times ive had some random old person go “oh ig hes gay then” or even “hes confusing the other boy dogs, thats why theyre humping him 😇” like bro hes a dog I promise he doesnt care.
I had a version of the Bible as a kid meant for girls and it had whole sections on “being modest” but also “smiling more” and “obeying your parents in a godly way”

That sucks it's really bad to hide your emotions, but every time you show emotion as a woman, it's ether, You're to emotional, Maby it's that time of the month..., because apparently depression and trauma don't exist for women Edit: How tf did this get so many likes in a day?!

@@InstagramUser2 YALL READ THIS BACKWARDS AND REPORT
I work with young children and it's actually refreshing to see how many parents just let their kids wear what they want and play with what they want. There are girls who love dinos and superheroes and boys who love princesses and its all very nice to see. We even have a couple picture books about the topic. Boys come in wearing tutus and bows, girls come in with gym shorts and superhero shirts. And all of them love Bluey. We can all agree on that one.
I feel like the real problem is the underlying misogyny and gender roles associated with gendered products, not gendered products themselves. It's perfectly fine to make products feminine and make other products masculine. Some people simply prefer one or the other. The problem arises when you advertise them to specific genders and judge people for using other products.
I grew up with “a young girls guide to biblical living” book, it turned me into a queer femboy so be careful with those things
