@@teek6807 that was the second pilot, there were 2. The first being me and my friends, the second one being a test pilot for the show. It’s still up somewhere actually, but it’s only a short clip of it.

I would hope that I'm not the only adult with whom The Backyardigans resonated. Although I'm quite use to being out in left field as a fan of children shows to this day. When it came on, I was 24 or 25. But it had something special which the best Nick Jr shows have that reminded me very much of the shows I watched as a child. I find it interesting to have a little look into the birth of the show with the knowledge of it's live action genesis. The clip does rather ring of the same odd discomfort I get from many of the old Kroft characters, so I'm quite glad they went a different direction. Living very very near Universal when it opened, I use to think it kind of unreal actually that Nick was filming actual programs in the park. Particularly as I spent most of October cursing the park for all the screaming and such and yet I was watch the episodes of Double Dare, that was filmed there. Also I like that you went at this not just because of the mystery but because what the show became means something to you.

Then I saw the full version which is about them going swimming in the beach as the thing in that pilot. Still pretty creaped out about Dora staring at my soal btw.

Man, these 5 paisanos are characters I haven't seen in a very, very long time. I even forgot that Austin existed at all until now

POV: You're a Filipino kid in the early 2000s, your grandma is cooking some food for you. Your scrolling through different channels and you find this show, you have no idea what you're watching bc it was halfway too. After it finished, you go eat some lunch with your grandma.

Ah I remember this, despite how obscure this piece of lost media is. At one point it was up online for purchase in as part of a Nicolodeon compilation dvd on Geocities.com It contained deleted scenes of cartoons, crew interivews, glimpses at storyboards and alot more. It was about 4 hours along at least. The guy who sold the dvd on his website (Jason Groves) claimed he compiled all the media from a 80gb hard drive from a work pc that was getting gutted from the Nick studio as part of renovations. From what I could tell only a very few copies got sent into market before discontinuing it. Scared Nicolodeon will threaten him with legal action. Hopefully someone can come forward with a copy with the full pilot on it. Just be careful as you don't want lawyers from Nick on your case. Hope this information helps - Isaac

This show was a major part of my childhood, and I'm not sure if I repress those memories or can't remember much about watching it

Another show I remember with similar costumes (to me) was a show called “Wee 3”. Similar colour of the costumes. It only ever came on at like, 3 am here, so I have little recollection of it, but hey.

I respect you for spending so much time on an old childhood show. Backyardiagns was my life as a kid and I love hearing other people express this much care and love for the show as well. :)

I remember seeing this show with a girl named Emily but I have no other memories of her and whenever I ask about her no one in my family has ever seen or even heard of me having any friends over, let alone watch tv with me.

Now THAT is a tale. I don't think I ever knew "Me And My Friends" existed but it's a very interesting story, one we'll probably never hear about anymore. Weird headcannon(?)- the meerkats were 3 toys that belonged to one of the 4(at the time) characters(pushing more towards Uniqua). They would play with them for a while and forgotten about them 5 days later(like kids do) since they were either playing with other toys or playing with each other

Backyardigans was (and still is) a big part of me, but I never knew someone else was on it as well! Searching the net for its history made me feel like no one really looks it up, or cares about it. Not many people bring it up, and maybe that's something interesting in its own way. Thanks for going further than me just searching the net, it really made me feel a little solved!
