In the UK, if you call someone a pedo in a publication or even on social media, you can sue them for defamation. It's taken very seriously and people often get fined for this behaviour online

Generally defamation and slander is difficult, due to it hinging on you having to prove that the offender: A: knowingly posted false information. This means they actively knew that it wasn't true, not simply rumours they believed to be true. B: they posted it malicious intent. A. is specifically hard to prove beyond reasonable doubt, because the offender might truly believe in the claims they are making and they don't have to prove for it to be true, they merely have to avoid you proving that they actively knew it was false. Harassment however is another story entirely, but defamaton/slander is quite difficult. Unless you're in Japan where apparently slander and defamation counts even if it was a fact which is bizarre

I had a harasser like this for a little while back in 2017. I ran a semi-popular Tumblr fan blog for an indie musician. It was a very small and niche fandom but the fans he did have could get really intense. So, one day I started getting weird messages from a random account. I checked their blog out of curiosity and it was absolutely unhinged. Their posts were hard to understand, but the crux of their narrative was that this musician was stalking them. They were picking out snippets of his lyrics and snippets from his own Tumblr blog and interpreting it as being about them personally. I think this person was a woman and they were accusing the musician of being sexually obsessed with them but also simultaneously gay and married to a specific man. The blog was half-devoted to accusing him of stalking her/them and half insane rants laden with homophobic slurs directed at him. Anyway, the person’s messages were just a little weird and cryptic at first, but I responded to them, stupidly. Then they amped it up. They started calling me various slurs and sending really personal insults that indicated that they had backread A LOT of my blog. Then they sent me a message with my legal name in it, which I hadn’t used online for years. Then they sent me a message referencing both my parents’ names. I got super freaked out and blocked them. Immediately, more accounts started messaging me. All of these blogs had been active for quite a while and were very slight variations of the original account, but from different “characters” e.g. one was writing as a teen boy, another as an older man, but they were clearly the same person as the original, with the same unhinged writing style and the same MO of random homophobic rants and accusing the musician of being a stalker). They sent increasingly aggressive and personal messages, sometimes about the musician and sometimes just insulting me and calling me slurs. I would block one account and a new one would pop up, usually with a blog that had already been actively posting for months. It didn’t completely stop until I quit Tumblr altogether. I’m going to try to find some of the messages they sent me because they were INSANE. I’m 99% sure the person had schizophrenia or some other delusional disorder. They clearly believed what they were saying and felt justified in all of it. And the amount of active accounts they kept was just insane. It had to have been a full-time schedule for them to post that much. I genuinely hope they got help and they’re doing OK now.

I had experienced something similar but thankfully really shortly. One person really god mad at me at Reddit suddenly and started to bully me on other subreddits I was in. I blocked them, they came with a new one. I blocked that one too. I had an account with my personal name on instagram due to personal life and with some connection this person found that out i guess. Suddenly an account from my name on reddit texted me slurs. I freaked out. Because this crazy person is talking with my name and saying things problematic to show it like I am saying them. Thankfully other than my name, this person couldn't get any info on me, since I am a bit freaked out by internet and be really careful about my personal info. Still those days, I felt just like how Nexpo described. I made a report to reddit and thankfully again, they actually closed that account. After that their interaction with me completely died. I just can't understand how people have time to do this.

It's her reality and she's obviously not medicated so she's pretty much psychotic and hallucinating 24/7. If there is one illness that means can't be held responsible for reasons of insanity it's schizophrenia. It's a horrible illess, not just for the ones who have it but for everyone who comes in contact with them.

@@phantagirlable The premeditation is the part that the law cares about. If you are able to plan out and premeditate a killing, you generally aren’t able to be deemed insane/unable to stand trial. Mental illness is a serious thing. I deal with it on a daily basis. But there are some examples where you can’t simply hide behind the shield of mental illness and claim no responsibility on your part, and I believe this is one of those.

@@wolfiemuse Er, no, untreated schizophrenia is exactly one of the few cases, if not the only one, where you can not be held responsible for your own actions. It doesn't matter that you were able to meticulously plan what you were doing. The point is that an untreated schizophrenic lives in an alternate reality full of voices and hallucinations that their physically damaged brain can't indentify as such. The USA is probably the only western country that does not recognise this and still sends schizophrenics to prison (even on death row) instead of the mental hospital. Hell, there are even cases where they acknowledge that the person can't stand trial and then they wait until they have been treated with meds and come back to reality and THEN put them on trial, which makes no effing sense whatsoever. I don't know how to make you understand this illness (one of my aunts suffers from it since her early 20s so I'm familiar with it). Let me give you an example. So you are being stalked by neonazis and you find out about their plot to kill you. They keep breaking into your home, r pe and abuse you and your kid, your pets. You keep calling the police and FBI about this but no one does anything to help you. Your family keeps telling you that you are mentally ill and you need to take medication that you know is poison. They have infiltrated your group of friends too and one of them is set to murder you and your child this week. They get you and your kid alone at your home and you figured out that they would attack you with radioactive poison. You shoot them first. You were perfectly justified because everyone was conspiring against you and your child, no one was helping you and you defended yourself and your child. This was literally the reality they lived in. This was all happening to them. They really felt and saw and heard all this. And yes, they "plotted" and intentionally killed their friend. And now explain to me how that person can be held responsible for what they did when their deseased brain made that reality for them?

About a year ago (wow, almost two years already as of writing this comment) I had an experience scarily similar to this one, being a "patient zero" for an internet stalker amongst my friend group who promptly got targeted solely because of association with me. I had someone cut contact with me over it for fear of their own safety. The experience was terrifying, and it left me not wanting to return to social media for months and distancing myself from my friends for their sakes. It sucked. It was stressing me out so bad I started losing hair over it. I feel like people underestimate how truly horrific this level of stalking and harassment can be. How it tears people apart both inside and out.

Yeah, the murderer always trying to help Columbo through his investigation isn't just a wholecloth fabrication. People want to avoid being suspicious when they've got someone to hide, so they'll often try to be nice and kind. In doing so accidentally make themselves stick out. They don't factor in the universal human behavior that everyone shares to some degree-we don't like to help others unless we get something out of it. Granted, she wasn't being nice and kind, but the situation is the same in essence. A person is guilty, so if they do something only a non-guilty person would do, few would think them guilty. If they do a ton of it, therefore, nobody could possibly think them guilty!

You know what I find crazy? That people took her seriously from the beginning. She had some of the worse internet grammar and had no proof. I think that is even more crazy than she is. I think that the people who believed her need to get their heads checked for falling so easily into a fabrication such as this. People, you need to do better. Do research. Don't jump to conclusions. We are in an age where you can find literally anything, if you take a few minutes. You will dig for hours to find that one KZread video but refuse to look up actual information. Innocent until proven guilty. Please don't follow the hype train until actual proof comes to light. That goes for everything. Just because some idiots on the internet or the news says it true doesn't make it so. Nexpo, I have been in your shoes on this one. I was accused of something so heinous I almost lost my life over it. People believed the other person just because she said it. I was almost sent to jail, almost got kicked out of the Navy and was labeled a predator by humans who I thought were my best friends. Even after she came forward and said she lied, I was still ostracized. So I understand why you made this video. My first reaction was to ignore it because I honestly thought there was no way anyone could believe that I was capable.

She's probably on welfare or disability. You can't legally take a penny from her because those funds are legally considered essential for her to live. Also if she's mentally ill then the court won't charge her. Maybe they will force her to get help though, IF you can prove it all in court since she's probably using a VPN and who knows what else.

That’s partly why it’s so hard to bring it up, because you’re so dependent on the adults in your life for your survival, particularly before the age when you start school or preschool. A few months ago I was accused (by someone completely separate from Amanda) of drawing and/or spreading CP, and lost all of my online friends and even some real life friends because of it. I had to change my name and user on everything, and it's even bled to people harassing me at my school for something I flat out didn't do. I hate this kind of thing even more than the next person, being a victim of both SA and accusations of being the abuser myself. I'm glad someone with a bigger voice than mine can talk about this.

I didn't about MamaMax when I watched this for the first time, I heard about him for the first time on this, but this video always felt a bit odd to me compared to the usual editing style Nexpo has. After all the bullshit from MamaMax came out and I got to see some examples of his work, I can now see where the editing came from. I'm not a fan of it, honestly, and it made it really hard for me to even take the video seriously and I was always confused whether this was a real thing or just some sort of horror story made up for this.

Dealt (and still dealing with) a similar situation. It feels like any option available is the wrong one, ignoring makes me the bad guy. Responding makes me the bad guy. Seeking help makes me the bad guy. It has given me fear every time an unknown number calls my phone, I get a notification on specific apps, etc. I know this is an older video, but it brought me a certain kind of comfort hearing another person going through what I have and having the guts to stand up to it.

I still find it funny that Nexpo is so good at investigating Internet mysteries that he became part of an Internet mystery himself.
