The Birth of Jesus: Dust to Glory with R.C. Sproul

Jesus did not come to the world in royal garb. Instead, He assumed the posture of a servant from the time of His birth. In this message, Dr. R.C. Sproul shows how both the power of God and the humility of Christ were manifested in the birth of Jesus to a poor peasant virgin.
This message is from Dr. Sproul’s 57-part teaching series overview of the Bible: Dust to Glory. Learn more: www.ligonier.org/learn/series...

"The Birth of Jesus: Dust to Glory" What a great title kind Sir...And so apropos! Wow! Love it... When it comes to the date of Jesus' birth...I was taught many years ago; that the date of "Christmas" was determined by the RCC. So they deemed that Mary got pregnant in the springtime. So they arbitrarily used March 21st ("Vernal Equinox") and added 9 months. Then they used the Sunday "Mass"; that came the closest to December 21st ("Winter Solstice"); and it happened to be December 25th. And they called it "Christ's Mass". Of course, over time, it was short-cutted to "Christmas". Now, whether that is true or not, I have NO clue. But it does seem to be quite plausible in my thinking. But...who in the Pluperfect Hallelujah am I? For the most importance of Christmas, IS Jesus. AMEN! And... ...Worship Jesus always; because He is the ONLY thing that counts. Thus dates, names, celebrations, birth days, etc, are totally moot; when it comes to Jesus; who IS the only true God Almighty. Praise His Holy Name.

Spirit of God is the mind of God. 1 Sam 26:20 "Now do not let my blood fall to the ground FAR FROM THE presence of the Lord". Is God present in hell? Jesus Emmanuel mean God with us. If God is omnipresent why all this claims? God spirit is knowledge and LOCATION (mindful). Gen 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the SPIRIT OF GOD was hovering over the waters. Meaning, not another but God...but paying attention or being mindful of earth, because He is about to do something. Like us when we are about to do something. Example writing books. We need our body and spirit to converge (create attention) to be able to do the task at hand. So is God for we are created in his image. But for God His spirit and spirit (mind) have to converge to be present. That is why God can be in hell, spirit, but not mindful (spirit). That doesn't do violence in His omnipresent attributes. That also explain Emmanuel, God with us for the fullness of God's spirit is in Jesus at that time. And also David rendering of this verse in Samuel, for the spirit of God is in the holy land at that time. Learn people learn.

After 3,days, it was the 1st of the triple conjunctions of Jupiter, the king planet to Regulus, the brightest star on constellation Leo, the lion of the tribe of judah. @@johngregory5424 the 8th course of Abijah of the father of john gave a clue to Jesus birth. The Sabbath after Nisan 1 on 4 BC was the start of the 1st course. The 8th course would be 8 x 7 or 56 days. Add the 2 feast weeks of unleavened bread and Pentecost or 14 days brings the total to 70 days. Add the 40 weeks of gestation or 280 days brings the total to 350 days. Add the travel time of Zecharias from Jerusalem to his home and the 2 days from Nisan 1 4 BC to 7 days brings us to Nisan 1, 3 BC as the birth of John. Jesus was born 6 months later to take us to Tishri 1, 3 BC. Easy

Your question is not clear, but I can say the scriptures are clear that we are to serve Christ and Christ alone, we are to have faith in Christ alone. Paul says in Romans 8:1 there is now no condemnation for those in Christ. So if any man is trusting in anything other than Christ for justification, he will be gravely disappointed on the day of his death.

@@zippymax1 Well, I would not want to assume, but it is clearly about Christmas. But the answer is simple it is not commanded in scripture to celebrate it. So if any man is celebrating Christmas thinking this earns me favor or gains self righteousness through the celebration then that man needs to repent of the sin of idolatry and pride. But to the man who does not celebrate it out of self righteousness the same is the case.

Definition of Christianity….the belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul, that he gave you, that is present in all humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree. Now that's some FAITH!

Negative. There is no other name under heaven by which men might be saved, except through Jesus Christ, the Gospel is clear and simple that you must believe in who He was and what He did, and you will be saved. In turning to Him in faith you will thus be repenting of sin, or turning from sin to Faith in Christ Jesus the Lord and Savior.

That is nonsense of course. What you have stated would mean far more than just a bad translation - it would mean the entire intent of Bible has been misunderstood. But just so you know, the name Jesus is the transliteration (the closest corresponding letters of a different alphabet) of the Hebrew term Yehoshua/Jehoshua which is contracted to "Joshua.” All of these names are the same and they all mean “Yahweh saves" (or "Yahweh is salvation").

Jesus is god not God. Salvation need a sinless and obedient man Heb2:"11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family". Verse "17 For this reason HE HAD TO BE MADE like them,[k] FULLY HUMAN in every way," . Christ as God is of no use to mankind. It only adds to human problem which is sin. Enough said. What mankind need is a savior and the bible has clearly told us who and how it will be. Rom 5:19 "For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the OBEDIENCE OF THE ONE MAN the many will be made righteous". So vacillating about Jesus' deity which is a lie, never give us nothing. Unless RC was preaching God to God obedience which accuses the Gods (3) of cheating themselves!!! One God only. Read these verses in New testament; John 17:3, 1 Cor 8:5, James 2:19, Mat 28:22, Mark 10:18, Mark 12:29-32, Luke 18:19, Rom 3:29-30, John 14:28.
