    Just as a suggestion maybe add a small strip of gaming board between the grassy fields and sinking city that blends them together because just laying a board that's 100% brick city next to a 100% mud-grass open field does not transition well, so having a small transitioning board would look better way better and you don't really need any more buildings just something to transition from river city to open fields. I think out of the entire piece it looks wierd but I can see you just want to include every scene from that battle and shorten the distance between the three main locations which makes it look slightly janky but still cool. I think this would be a great event/diorama board already especially for a gaming club with a big room to put it in. *However if you want more work and larger board maybe putting in a larger city tile that transitions into another field past the destroyed second wall. Idk how far your willing to go but that why I put the easier method frist.

    @@fffgrehn i noticed the same thing. either there needs to be some sort of gate in the wall.. or perhaps just some sort of building in the Pellenor area that the road led to. perhaps a sort of detached outwork fortification? somewhere that the city's guards could be stationed in peacetime to help patrol the fields and townlands of the pellenor? or perhaps just a small cluster of ruined buildings that was part of a ranch or farm prior to the siege?

  • @craddocraddoc
    @craddocraddoc Жыл бұрын

    Obviously one of the next projects needs to be set of boards to give the peleonor fields and the ruined city a better transition! Also I feel a nice community project would be to add more details to the city, which beside the buildings is quite empty right now. A community project were followers could send you way smaller pieces of terrain, like a stack of barrels, a small stall or some other details.

    needs transition boards for both ends ofthe pellenor i think.. the osgiliath to Pellenor transition needs more space between the city and the rammas echor, while the pellenor to Minas Tirith needs at least a small strip to connect that road to something.

  • @michaelscholer1

    I think an easy way to do scale would to get like 3 models of the game your scaling to 1 small, 1 standard/generic, 1 large (maybe even 1 gigantic if the game has one) to put side by side. Example using warhammer 40k = 1 SM/IG troop, 1 Space dwarf troop, and a demon prince. If you wat to scale to titanic units it has plenty of options as well.

  • @zackcook5123

    @zackcook5123

    Hey I was in a similar spot if you don't mind I might offer some advice from my flawed experience. First things first scale. I use 3 models for scale, most of my terrain is 40k so I use a guardsman, a chaos marine and a monster esq unit like a dreadnought. For fantasy I'd say an empire soldier, an Ork and something mounted like a chaos knight. For keeping things at a reasonable height, you typically want a bit of headroom. I typically do the floors on a building as 2-3 inches. For empire style buildings I'd say look up the Devs and dice channel as he does some great mordheim terrain. Now material is always an issue. Foam board and xpss foam are both great. You can buy both online on Amazon. A great channel for this is. Black magic craft. Lollipop sticks and coffee stirrers are both cheap and fantastic for wood details. You can get great easy texture on foam with crumpled aluminium foil. The main thing is to have fun and experiments

Preferably right around your block, so you can work on it there with all your friends😃 If this isn´t a thing, I´d drive around and talk to farmers. That´s how we here in the Netherlands usually find an idle barn somewhere nearby to work on parade wagons and other overscaled projects like this and that.

    Do you have any plans on doing a gate with the signature wolf head ram the orcs used? i think having that line up with that paved road will really bring the board together. Fantastic work ive never been more jealous of miniature terrain

    Absolutely epic! It’s been a great ride and I look forward to more. So good to see it all together. It’s incredibly impressive to have such a big board that still is of such great detail quality. However, I must say that two of the roofs in Minas Tirith - from the first colab - aren’t really up to par with the rest of the board. They have a patchy finish and are painted in a too sharp blue. They draw the eye unfortunately and detract from the overall impression of the board. A couple of washes to darken them down would do wonders. But again, absolutely crazy impessive board! Love it!

    Apparently, Lachie got his visa to live in New Zealand because he has offered to expand the nation's territory; by at least 140 square feet. 😄

    Hey Zorpa! I had a question is the last section of the fields also gonna be made to be the same width of Minas or is it gonna be a 3 wide bored. This is genuinely amazing that you have been able to to do this. It's most definitely something to be proud of.
