Great podcast, guys. I've been a PT for 15 years, and 90% of people will always fall for the info that makes them feel good. This could be things like "stop eating fruit to be healthier," "do this kickback for huge glutes," or "tan your balls to increase testosterone." The person who finds a way to change subconscious programming will become the richest person in the world 🤣

This was reassuring. I love that fat loss and getting healthy is NOT sexy and it's actually boring...not some secret, magical remedy pushed by influencers...like "Table salt deadly....use this fancy salt" Calorie deficit/maintenance, exercise, weight training, listening to your body. Thanks !

Lane is clearly a proponent of “if it fits your macros” and that might work for some for weight management but some of the “charlatans” they’re mentioning are talking about dietary intervention for chronic disease prevention and I don’t think recommending a whole-foods diet in that context is unreasonable. Like I don’t think a nephrologist like Jason Fung who sees people on dialysis all day from diabetes is out of line to recommend interventions like a low carb diet and/or intermittent fasting if you’re in the early stages of that disease process rather than waiting until you have organ damage, it’s entirely different from body building advice or BS online fitness coaching

I’ve seen him talk on a lot of podcasts. He definitely doesn’t advocate against any particular diets. He’s expressed concern about long term carnivore diets, because of the lack of fiber mainly. He’s also expressed concern about high saturated fat diets for longevity, because of the increased risk of atherosclerosis. People with kidney disease usually go on lower protein diets. Lots of protein isn’t bad for healthy kidneys, but it can stress already struggling kidneys. I don’t think he advocates to get your macros in regardless of your medical condition.

Yeah, kinda hard to make millions when ppl can achieve their goals with just sleep, a balanced diet and if want to build muscle or strong just train consistently. Getting the weeds about how much to sleep, when to eat and standing bicep curl vs preacher Curl are just splitting hairs.

@@stevend481 If you believe that, then you do not understand science. Layne promotes scientific incompetence and propaganda, knowingly or not. It is more likely he does it intentionally. I have a hard time believing he is as incapable as his audience at interpreting studies or evaluating a data set. Although his advanced degree is in a field built entirely on propaganda, so it may be true that he is just as ignorant as his audience.

As a type 2 diabetic I've lowered my A1c from 10 to 6 and I don't do low carb or intermittent fasting (beyond normal late night/sleep period). For me it's all about how much I eat and not what/when I eat. Total calories matter for me there is just no way around it. I tried carnivore and gained over 10 lbs in two months. That's about as low carb as you can get but my numbers were dreadful. Be careful what you listen to on YT. As this video talks about there are a lot of charlatans out there looking to make a quick buck.
