Nice to seeing catch release on a linker like this even if you keep it all fish outside Alaska and northern parts of Canada all fission have consumption regulations but it is great to know there are still places like this where lunkers still can be supported nice fish lol

@@brianrizzi6321 if you take all the small ones then there won't be no big ones. Remember the small ones must grow bigger and there were once 20 to 30 footers if you look up sturgeon in the 1800's and before they started been fish out to almost extinct. Small must grow big to have giants.

Appreciate how this guy doesn't need to make a half hour long documentary to release content. No bull crap filler. Just pure action the entire time. Usually a yputuber catches a big fish they need to make a 3 part serious of sponsorship and adds to show it.

This old man really enjoyed your video. I’ve lived and fished in the northwest my entire life. I’ve been fortunate to haul in some big sturgeon myself from both the Columbia and the snake. Fish like this girl are very rare and treasured. In 5 decades of fishing this bests my biggest of a 9’8 from the snake in 1993. Congratulations on what could be the sturgeon of a lifetime.

It’s great to get this kind of experience commenting on this fish event. I have never fished the northwest, and figure there might be a few others like myself who appreciate the valued info that catches or teaches of fishing in the Northwest. Mine was primarily southwest Gulf of Mexico and covered the full scope of recreational boating. Power and Sail. When those experienced in the marine world post or comment, it’s usually pretty obvious which ones reveal they are definitely worth listening to.

Well maybe the Rock? But even that muscular monster of of man would have had trouble outlasting that beautiful Sturgeon. Thank God they’re now heavily protected from overfishing. I hear they aren’t very good eating anyway & normally the larger the fish or animal, the tougher their flesh is to eat. Or so I’m told. I’m strictly a meat hunter/fisher, not a trophy hunter /fisher. Shooting an animal is never fair or sporting as they’ve no chance against a 30.06 or whatever rifle. And they didn’t sign the waver to be hunted for sport. Sorry for getting off track folk. Just saying I guess. Love the vid though ya’ll did well, treated & carefully released that Sturgeon respectfully, calming her & letting her relax & regain strength before releasing her. She even did a lap back to say thx & that’s awesome & comforting to ya’ll knowing she’s good to go. Congrats fellas, ya’ll rock👍

Man, talk about a once-in-a-lifetime experience, on video too! This is the sort of memory that will still spawn fond re-tellings decades down the road handfuls of generations later. Groans of disbelief and annoyed at hearing it for the 1000th time as a family pass around food at their Thanksgiving gathering. Get a few drinks in Grandpa, almost on cue: " i ever tellyall bout the time w Grampappy caught a dinosaur out on the Columbia back in '18??" Perfect video man, the energy of the whole experience was warm, the excitement palpable, & succinctly edited all-round. You sir have earned a subscription!

Beautiful fish. I love sturgeon and have caught many over the years, some of the same size in this video and some bigger. But I hate to see anglers swapping the rod and taking turns fighting fish. To me it defeats the object of fishing 🎣 and it should always be between the same angler from first cast to eventually landing the fish. That's just my personal opinion of course and means no disrespect to Ty and the other anglers who made it a combined effort.

@GLOBETROTTER We don't have these types of fishes where I live, but I remember catching a carp, nearly 15kg (33pounds) and that was a struggle. It took me nearly 2 hours to pull it out, my hands were shaking afterward, so strong it was, but this MONSTER...I don't think I have so much strength, but would love the challenge...

@@fishmadpro7210 I have caught many thousands of big carp worldwide to over 70lb, but the fight only lasts minutes with the right gear. Even with some sturgeon over 700lb and sharks over 1,000lb I've subdued in 15-minutes. But some do and can last over an hour, depending on fitness & experience of the angler, power of the fish, river currents and tackle. Congratulations on the 15kg carp by the way. Carp have been my favourite fish since a boy.
