    Nah, she had it coming. If you dunno what you're on about, then you shouldn't act it. Eddie is just keepin it real, and that's why we all watch this show. If it was fake, no one would be watching it. I don't know why they got her on the show, other than the fact that she was half chinese and 'pretty'. Her being a lawyer had nothing to do with anything, and her being a model had nothing to do with anything either. This is what happens when you ask a 'fake' chinese with no cultural connection to her chinese side to give you a tour/interview concerning chinese culture/heritage in Mexico Chinatown.. And i'm surprised they let you guys film in the kitchen knowing the state it was in. That's even worse, since they don't even feel shame about how shit the food is or maybe they don't even KNOW that it's shit. I wouldn't be surprised if they probably just reheated and microwaved half the dishes..

    this was awful, even by Vice's standards. there's an interesting story behind Chinese immigration from the US to Mexico and, quite possibly, in the fusion of their two cuisines. +Riley Ulrich Well, im from Mexicali and we love that food. The most popular places are expensive and they have so many quality standards, but that restaurant in "La Chinesca" is like the root underground food here. Another thing to consider is that here in Mexicali we serve food without toppings and flavoring or something like that. The people has to serve his toppings by themselves. Like the rice here we put ketchup on it, without it tastes like trash.

    for all those people who say Hispanic is a race, here you have a white mexican and a chinese mexican. Hispanic is not a race, guys, it just means you come from a spanish speaking country

  • @xm377Moyocoyatzin

    @xm377Moyocoyatzin

    6 жыл бұрын

    That's because "Hispanic" is a multi-ethnic umbrella term that spans across two continents. They were specifically talking about Mexicans here and that girl is bi-racial. She is mixed with Mexican and Asian, the "White Mexican" is a Criollo or possibly a white looking Mestizo. Whichever way you spin it, if their DNA can be pinpointed to Mexico itself then yes Mexican is in fact a Race! Mexicans (including those who have distant Mexican ancestry) are genetically distinct from the rest of the world population. Many "Hispanics" detest the word _Hispanic_ precisely because it negates our ethnic and national uniqueness. Only in the united States to they use the term "Hispanic."

  • @godisgood1463

    @godisgood1463

    xm377Moyocoyatzin you were correct until you said Mexican is a race, actually when you say Mexican you're referring to a person's nationality not race. same goes for Canadian, Chinese etc.

  • @xm377Moyocoyatzin

    @xm377Moyocoyatzin

    5 жыл бұрын

    *Z Arr* You cannot take a Canadian's DNA and specifically indicate that he is geographically Canadian. You can, however, take a DNA sample from a random Mexican and specifically demonstrate that he is ethnically Mexican due to his unique genetic profile, unless he is a recent immigrant who is only Mexican on paper and not ethnically/ancestrally. This is what so many people have a very difficult time comprehending about Mexicans in general. We are both a Nation AND a race. To say that Mexican is _just_ a nationality is mildly insulting to the average Mexican because it feels like it cheapens our identity by insinuating that anyone can be Mexican, or that any Mexican can simply stop being Mexican. To better explain this concept think of the word "Mexican" as one would think of the word "Jew" or "Arab." The word Mexican has far more in common with the word Jewish than with the word Canadian or American. This is because the term Mexican is an ethnic term and not merely a nationality. Mexicans don't just share a political identity as a Nation-State we also share a unique racial ancestry derived from our indigenous roots, in fact, the majority of Mexicans are predominantly indigenous to this continent, meaning that they are not immigrants that came from somewhere else. We also share a common ancestry, a common culture, world view, language, and history. This is why Mexicans that migrate to the U.S. don't just blend in as easily as Polish, German, Italian, or English immigrants. Mexicans stand out and apart wherever they go much the same as the Jewish have historically done.

  • @xm377Moyocoyatzin

    @xm377Moyocoyatzin

    5 жыл бұрын

    *the meral woofer* What about them? In Mexico "blackness" is not recognized as a thing. You are either Mexican or you're not. There are no subsets of being Mexican. The only exception is with the indigenous communities who enjoy political and economic autonomy and are federally recognized as a separate group of Mexicans and are referred to as "first peoples" or "founders" of our Mexican identity. Only Americans have the habit of adding prefixes to our ethnic identity. Mexico does not recognize "black" Africans anymore than it recognized "white" Mexicans. Although, there is an ethnic distinction between being ancestrally Mexican and being Mexican on paper only as is the case with Lupita Nyong'o who has nothing to do with Mexico other than the fact that she was merely born there. Even those afro-descended Mexicans have been in Mexico for centuries and their DNA now carries the same unique genetic markers as the greater Mexican population.

    Im from around these parts, and it's always a shame having non locals being brought to particularly bland anythings (in this case, chinese restaurants). As for the "tastes like hot trash" remark, Id like to clarify for anyone curious to try this food that the Mexican-Chinese fusion is particular to Mexicali and reknown the world over for its varied and delightful play on traditional Chinese dishes. It is a multimillion dollar industry here for a reason. I invite you all to stop and try it yourself.

    +Daniel Estrella Take it easy, bro... You may have your opinion as a person from this area, but Eddy is a professional and has way more experience when it comes to food. If he said that the food tasted like hot trash, then most likely the food really was bad. He even went inside the kitchen himself to see how the food was made.

    +Lexman00 Yeah I mean, they should be thankful it wasn't Gordon fucking Ramsay who went into that kitchen or my grandma for that matter xD The noodles weren't handmade, if I wanted to eat some Maruchan I'd go to the store and buy a pack or two, come on... And the rice in the dishwasher bin? COME ON NOW. It's safe to say we all agree that this wasn't the best place to try anything. I don't think Eddie makes comments in vain, if he were presented with a good example of fusion he would've said something good about it and acknowledge it without doubt.

    Daniel Estrella Or, maybe it just shows that English isn't your first language LOL. Here's an example, the correct form of that phrase is actually, "I COULDN'T care less".You also have a lot of spelling errors. Anyway, maybe they should have had you show them where to eat instead of that local, hot Chinese/Mexican girl. The restaurant did seem pretty busy though.

  • @dnlestrella

    ***** I challenge you to point out 5 spelling mistakes, and I do mean spelling, not the fact that I didn't bother using apostrophes on purpose for the sake of saving time. Your argument is put together quite erroneously if I can be honest (no offense man). Even if there had been one, or three, or seven spelling mistakes (which I'd be amazed if you could point out 5), and the fact that I messed up an expression shouldn't really detract from the main point. If you need the clarification, English is my first language, and I'm fluent in Spanish and French too. I can personally attest about how many English speakers who know no other languages continuously butcher the English language, so you'll just have to excuse me if I happened to incorrectly use an expression. In all honesty and back to more relevant matters, yeah, they should've let me show them where to eat, I could've most certainly pointed out places that are very well regarded locally. All I need to know is where I can sign up for this sort of gig, and presto, real Mexican-Chinese cuisine to try.

    When people get mad over Eddie saying the food was garbage when in fact they served him ramen noodles that are like 10 cents and probably charged him $5 for it....I'd be pissed too that kitchen and the whole place was gross as hell.

    +Liam Prendergast You are certainly new to this show. This guy is not being fake, this is who he is. If you know the show "Fresh of the Boat," this is the Eddie Huang. Well this show used to be called "Fresh of the Boat" before the ABC show got the rights to the name.
