The biggest tool I have ever unboxed! HUGE thanks to Tormach for supporting the project: hubs.ly/Q01pr2FV0 If you too would like to support the project - buy one of our coins HERE: www.NotaWheelchair.com/donate I have wanted a CNC Milling machine for YEARS now. Having the ability to quickly take a digital design and turn it into a real working prototype in just a few hours is amazing. It will really take our manufacturing game to the next level. No more outsourcing small parts and waiting weeks for them to arrive. The Tormach 1100MX is a new and very welcome member of our Not-a-Wheelchair family.

Hey Zach, I'm an aerospace machinist and have been in the industry over a decade at this point. You had some good ideas up to getting the part clamped down well enough to hold it in place, but something to keep in mind. The endmills are going to also be applying lifting pressure along the helix of the cutter, and the Mitee Bites are applying lateral pressure to hold it. One thing I would look into for your shop is making an aluminum subplate for the table and drill/tapping a grid of pin and tapped holes for work holding and locating. This will let you bolt down subplate fixtures in repeatable locations, but also gives you a soft aluminum plate to drill into. Generally, I would suggest having your fixturing on subplates so that you can create custom cut outs necessary for your operations. In particular with this piece, if the holes that you drilled to not have to be blind holes, you can drill all the way through the part and then use those holes to clamp the part into. If you only pocket out the part on the first operation, that would also leave you with excess on the outer profile so that you can drill into that excess for workholding on your second operation.

Well I feel like that rod thing is going to shoot out over my left kidney @ anytime & I'm lucky to stand more then 30 minutes to try to cook supper. But in a lot of pain. You might say, your lucky not to be in that wheelchair. Believe me I'm not complaining one bit. I know it could be worse & I thank God everyday morning, noon, & night for giving me longer, 7yos so far, from that wheelchair. I'm just trying to tell Zack & Cambrey that I'm so, so, proud of what their doing for the wheelchair community. Helping this community who would or have a hard time, getting off trail & seeing our amazing planet 🌏 & not making a killing of money off this wheelchair community. There not thinking about their wallet, their thinking of inventions to help this community to get off trail with their families & enjoy different terrain of the beautiful outdoors smells - freshness & something better then concrete & carbon monoxide that's in all our cities & is killing us. So with that said Congratulations you two & God bless everything you two do, Chris from Missouri P.S. please let Zack have more toys bc he really loves to play with them & tell us about them...... lol....

The clank of the alloy jumping the fixture brought back nightmares of when operators would leave things loose to destroy tooling, all because they wanted a longer rest break. I always dreamed of being able to have one of those H400Ns in my home garage, but the support systems needed were beyond the capacity of a home setup. The coins are a really great idea, the design looks awesome! It's been said already, but it would be great if you guys could find a way to ship them internationally. I know the logistics of such things can be complicated, but even if international buyers have to cover the extra shipping costs, I bet people worldwide would be lining up to buy them and be more than happy to do that. As an American living in Australia, I certainly would. Keep up the great work, you're going to change so many lives with this!

When you put bearings in like that next time cool them in the freezer for a few hours or heat up the housing, or both!. because cooling it shrinks the bearing or heating the housing expands it it will be way easier to put the bearing in but most importantly it will sit perfectly flush and the axis of rotation will be perpendicular to the housing as compared to just forcing it in which might not make it perfectly straight

That is some machine! The gearbox housing you made amazes, and it looks like it's ready to use. Your 'this is not a wheelchair' creation must be evolving into a more affordable, durable, and efficient ride for more disabilities. Nothing in outdoor mobility for disabilities touches the freedom and enjoyment your product(s) promise and at a fraction of the cost. You've created something most people love - freedom. Exciting times - Thank You!
