    UPDATE: 1. The Photoshop (Win) lag is like it's running at 30Hz. The animation as the lines appear on screen is choppy whereas for other drawing apps, the animation is noticeably smoother. 2. Correction needs to be +10 with Medibang (Mac) for the lines to be smooth. Medibang (Win) default brush Correction is 0 and works fine. 3. Lines are now smooth with Krita (Mac). This is after tweaking the pressure curve several times with the Mac driver. 4. Tilt sensitivity does not work when pen tip is one inch away from the edges.

    Interesting... So you're thinking Photoshop itself is running at 30hz? The display itself is 60hz, right? What specs are on the windows computer you're running? Could be a GPU / CPU / Memory issue? BTW, awesome video - thank you VERY MUCH for the thorough review, you're awesome!

    Hello Teoh, I would like to ask you if the parallax on this display is comparable to wacom one parallax(which is exactly the same as the cintiq 22) I’m considering to buy this new 2.5k display but my main issue is parallax and since this is not laminated I’m a bit in a struggle 😕

  • @teohyc

    @@Mp_995 Wacom One has a laminated display but the glass is thick so there's still a gap between the LCD and the drawing surface. It's somewhat similar here with the Artist 24 Pro. Anyway, the parallax can be corrected by calibration with the driver. Also, when I first took out the Artist 24 Pro, without reading the specifications prior, I thought it was a laminated display.

    Very nice pen monitor and review. It's nice to have more options. Finally a big screen to draw, with enough pixel resolution. Both Kamvas Pro 24 and XP-Pen artist Pro are selling in Spain. The XP-Pen costs almost 200€ less money, which is a lot of money. I'm very happy with my iPad Pro, but i really need a big screen. With small screens everything looks very nice. But when you transfer your painting to big screen, you see all imperfections lol. I've been waiting for a big screen like this one (or Huion one); i almost purchased a Kampas Pro 16 or Artist Pro 15.6, but i guess the screen size will not be big enough, better still painint on iPad Pro. The current 22 screens (even the Cintiq non Pro) looks very pixelated at 1080p. I don't know which one purchase (Huion or Xp-Pen). The Huion one seems better (laminated, better initial activation). But the XP-Pen costs -currently- 200€ less in my country, it have USB-C, two USB connections, two dials (which i prefer instead of touch bars).

    I know I'm a year later but one thing I'd also mention (having had both Huion Kamvas Pro 24 4k and XP Pen Artist 24 Pro) is that the laminated screen on the Huion causes a lot of color noise, while the matte screen protector on the XP Pen only has a "black and white noise". It's hard to describe, but I ended up keeping the XP Pen because of this.

    Okay so I noticed that when you tilted the pen at 8:48 the parallax appeared pretty bad. The cursor was several cm to the right. I am reviewing and researching both this pen display (XP-Pen 24 pro) and the newer Huion 16 pro 2.5k and so far the only technical spec that is superior on the Huion is the RGB spectrum (145% RGB). However, now I have another concern and that is the parallax on this pen display. It might seem minor to most, but even the slightest parallax differences between the two I mentioned above will likely be the deciding factor. I like the larger screen in the XP but not at the cost of experience. So you are pretty detailed oriented, if you had to decide between this pen display and the Huion 16 pro 2.5k pen display, which would you choose and why? Thanks

  • @teohyc

    @teohyc

    2 жыл бұрын

    Between the two I will get Huion simply because of the smaller size as I don't have much table space, and I already have a 27-inch display. If I'm using the pen display as the main monitor then I will get 24 inches. The display is not a laminated screen which is really no big deal because the parallax is not significant.

  • @teohyc

    @teohyc

    4 жыл бұрын

    I've not used the 22R Pro so I can't say much about the parallax. I initially thought this was a laminated display because the gap wasn't that noticeable. E.g. Budget iPad has a much bigger gap. It's only when XP-Pen told me it's not a laminated display that I went to take a closer look.

I use a Mac, but I don’t really use Medibang or Krita. Definitely get the Artist 24 Pro if you have the budget. The higher resolution of 1440P is a significant increase from 1080P. It makes everything look sharper and you get more desktop space (assuming you don't scale the user interface to reduce desktop space). Current price from for 22R is US $699 while 24 Pro is $765 (preorder price) so it's definitely worth the extra money for the extra resolution. If you've already set your mind to getting a pen display, but don't know which, get the 24 Pro (at the preorder price).

    Josh Parkin Also nowadays people do so much recreational art that they think about ‘natural talent’ and ‘skill’ too much. Historically artists were trying to get the job done well by any means possible (they just didn’t have photos). They used whatever the new tech was, be that lenses and camera obscura or poking holes in a drawing so they could transfer the image and proportions to many canvases (to make “copies”), plus they’d get a ton of training. Don’t worry about cheating. As long as you don’t outright use another artist’s exact work you’re good. Imagine working as a graphic designer or illustrator and you have customers looking for packaging.. do you think they care HOW you got a great result? Now times that by like the million artists out there meeting deadlines right now. They aren’t worried about “cheating”. Don’t worry :) do what makes you happy.

    I don’t think they necessarily need to reduce their prices. But they could launch drawing display tablets that are at a lower price & pretty much with the same specs as their competitors but maybe with a few upgraded features. People forget but these companies (xp pen, Huron, & the others) are creating lower prices drawing display tablets but they are also cutting corners & trying to the most out of each dollar they put into the product. Wacom & it’s competitors are going about the production a different way. Also, idk if not many people have noticed but xp pen has been raising its prices, this tablet is $700-800 usd but the other one which I had, 22 pro, was just $400. Now I understand that they most likely had to raise the price due to the better hardware but they are slowly raising their prices but again it isn’t as high as Wacoms. I think once they drop a 4K tablet which is on par with wacoms cintiqs then these will be at least $1,000-1,200 usd to get. Better than wacoms pricing but still a bit more
