@@selfbyriri hmmm... The Cintiq Companions from Wacom does. But I would really suggest an iPad with an Apple Pencil if you want an independent drawing monitor. I have one too and I use it a lot because its so portable ^^

Sketch A Style surface pro, surface book, ipad pro/air, or wacom mobilestudio pro (apparently the wacon is very heavy compared to ipad and surface). If portability isn’t a factor and you want a larger screen then surface studio or the new huion studio (its only just come out so i’d wait til some reviews are out before buying incase of bugs etc), wacom also make a pc that clips into the back of the cintiq pro 24/32

Not picking up some tiny fast strokes... could it be just that the driver now consumes more CPU or etc? If so... a powerful enough PC would make this disappear ? Which are your full PC specs?

I bought this tablet when they had that insane deal where it was roughly $300 off! I upgrade from XP-Pen's regular 15.6. I absolutely love utilizing the bigger workspace and being able to use my whole arm to draw confident lines!

The issue you describe at 13:00 has a fix. Contact XP-pen support and ask them for a firmware update that specifically addresses the issue with small strokes not being detected. I have the same tablet and was initially annoyed by this behavior, but the update improves it drastically.

I've been using my XP-Pen Artist 16.5 for four months now. I used to use Scketbook as a drawing programme but after Krita, I've been able to draw a lot more easier. So I suggest this drawing tablet and any other model!!

Your little notes on the shortcut keys are GENIUS Im assuming there will; be a tablet that has light up buttons that change to reflect what you configure them ass, and all the input slots will be on the side flush with the monitor so you can lay it down completely flat like a bigger Ipad pro.

@@WhoMichaelWho they might have had an older Kamvas. Also reviews are quite BULLSHIT. I had a Huion Kamvas GT221 Pro and reviews said the parallax wasn't that big of an issue, yet it was a huge issue to me. The Huion Kamvas 22 Plus, though, THAT has 0 parallax. It's the BEST Huion pen experience you can have.

I was trying to get a 22R pro for Christmas but it sold out so instead I settled for the 22E and I love it.

i watch the entire video for no reason, and i love it lol

For those smaller lines and dots I've been dealing with it to on this model and it was fixed through a firmware update, they don't send it out if you don't ask for it but the pen experience in general gets better and the issues will be gone so I recommend for anyone who uses this to send an E-mail to xp-pen for a firmware update if they are experiencing these issues - don't let them wave you off, service center knows they have it so it's best to ask them. ;)

My Wacom tablet is on it's way to the grave, and you are pushing me towards getting this tablet XD I've been looking at this tablet for months and then I found your video where you go in depth about everything anyone would need to know about it. Knowing how to adjust the buttons and how easy everything is, I might actually get this tablet!! (and yes, I always follow the guides! XD) Ps. How is your art so amazing!? I love it!! X3

I have the XP-Pen 15.6, for me the main problem is the sensitivity, I used to draw in paper with a very light hand, and with Xp-Pen you need to push harder losing some of details and more dynamic trace. I hope they change it.

@@anteq1082 the thing is that ISN'T the issue. Yeah you can make the sensitivity easier for a solid line to be produced, however, pressure sensitivity doesn't effect the initial *activation force* which is what the issue is with all of these alternatives. They require a LOT more activation force than Wacom tablets. However the Huion Kamvas 22 Plus has the lowest activation force. You can produce VERY light lines and do detailed work it's amazing.

@@GeekedOutNeckbeard well I have deco V2 so it doesn't have a screen display. I ve never drew on a tablet with screen. So I don't really know I guess it's just the fact that XPPEN screen tablets are not that good. Also, probably all the reviews are sponsored lol

@@CaravenesArt not sure about the 22R Pro but I also don't trust reviews when they bullshit about how responsive they are. I bought a used GT221 pro Huion device a couple years back and it was a pain in the ass to get a line down. But the Huion Kamvas 22 Plus is like Wacom pen that came with the 13HD and 22HD.. It's the only time a review didn't bullshit imo about the activation force! I got light lines with EASE! But the color accuracy.. Left something to be desired. It's overly saturated thanks to their quantum dots mumbo jumbo and the 120%sRBG rating(which was calibrated to actually be about 97-99%?) it also lacks blues, so if you enjoy using a LOT of blues in your work this will leave something to be desired since they all kinda have this washed out, grey-ish tone to them, like their just different variations on Cyan. Reds are as pure as pure can be and greens are Neon as FUCK. Like so intense. You feel like you're at a rave if you use a lot of greens. Getting it to color match was a hassle and the main reason I ended up refunding the device. I didn't want to constantly be sweating about my colors being WAY off. Cause on the Kamvas it is gorgeous, vibrant and colorful, but on your phone and main display it's... Desaturated.. Heavily. The screen has legit 0 detectable parallax when using it. But it also doesn't feel like paper to draw on, it takes about a week to kinda break in as well so squeaking noises will be heard at a constant. I heard a damp cloth can help get rid of whatever residue is on the screen, otherwise just use til it's gone and smooth. The pen.. As mentioned before, is comparable to an older Gen Wacom pen that came with the 13HD and 22HD. Which I used for quite a while. It also feels PREMIUM in the hands. Has a little bit of weight to it.. Just an all-around lovely pen. They fixed the nib so now it doesn't have the pressing in when drawing feel anymore. Just an overall great experience. If you have an expensive color calibrator device, or don't mind the off-colors til Huion allows you to use the other options for better customizing. Then the Huion Kamvas 22 Plus is probably the best option out of EVERY alternative, including Huions other monitors. And you can barely notice the pixels being stretched on this big monitor. Reviewers will whine and bitch but honestly it is totally fine. It is crisp and man.. Just lovely!

Ab'out painting in the freckles (and other details), there's a video on youtube somewhere that had the same issue as you and XP pen sent him drivers that sorted the issue out. If you search XP-Pen Artist 22R Pro and update you should find it.

Man, this was very thorough, you might be a favorite reviewer. I wish you were able to review the HUION kamvas 20 pro (2019) though and discover if it has the same issue as mentioned at 12:56 I'm trying to decide between that and this tablet. The extra features, buttons and the wheels feel worth the extra $100 to me but a problem with sensitivity like that MIGHT make or break it for me.

Just bought the Artist pro 22R Now I'm waiting for video called "this drawing tablet replaced my 22R"

I've got the Artist 15.6 Pro (less than a month ago) and I LOVE it. My first screen tablet, replacing my Wacom Intuos. What a game changer moving to that 1-to-1 drawing experience (eyes aligned with hand). :D

@@aracelyrodriguez6077 I've made an upgrade from an intuos to an xp pen 15.6 pro too. It's a really great device, perfect size for me and works just fine, almost no parallax, great colors. Just something to keep in mind: they have a mate/anti-glare protector which will get scratched after a while of using it, but you can change it later c: I think its great so you don't damage the actual screen.

I want to save up for a tablet with a display as I have been using one without a display and it has been difficult to get used to as I am a beginner for tablets ( I am also working on drawing again as I haven't regularly for a few years so I have time to save up lol as I know it will take months to draw again but looking forward to the practice) I saw this or an XP-Pen tablet in a list recently and wondered about it but after your review, I am considering it more than a Cintiq however I am still considering an Ipad pro as I will be able to use it for a lot more but in terms of size this looks lovely (and I have the desk space) thank you and I hope you stay well~! also, your art is so lovely and it inspires me to practice more

I'm a Wacom user and the wabble lines are pretty common too, has to do also with the pen, cause the nips are large and they need mobility it will affect the sensor inside them which will provide the wabbliness of it, hasn't been an issue for the pros for the past 30 years or so and I doubt it will be an issue in the future either.

I also have artist pro 12, it gets the job done. But the screen can get tiny scratches easily, but i that doesnt really affect your work.

the 12 was my first display tablet and I love it but it was too small! I now have a wacom one display tablet and just that little bit of screen increase has helped out alot

Thanks for this review. I bought this a week ago and got it yesterday, and set it up today. When I was trying to calibrate the pen pressure, the thing with the stylus not responding happened to me too, I had to restart my computer. But then it worked normally, so I'm guessing maybe it's just a thing that needs to be done after setting up?

Digital art is so hard how do you people create these masterpieces!?

I'm planning on investing in this kind of tablet next year. I think the slightly delayed reaction would frustrate me. But it is so small so I think I'd get over that quickly. So I'll add this to my consideration :) The large tablet size really appeals to me and it may devour my laptop when I'm not looking! X''D

im so glad that you also have the 15.6 pro. thats the one i am currently using (i had it for 4 months now) i noticed that there were these very fine scratch marks on the screen which causes a rainbow distortion effects and is very noticeable when the canvas bg is white. i'm not sure if you have used your 15.6 pro enough to cause any scratch maraks but since you menetioned that you've also had the 22R for roughly 4 months i was wondering if you are noticing these type of scratch marks on your 22R. just from eyeballing it, is the screen protector on the 22R the same as 15.6pro? also, last question (sorry for asking so much). the 15.6 pro screen was said to be laminated but not the 22R. so when using, do you notice if the parallax is greater in the 22R comparing to the 15.6pro? or about the same?

I use both Medibang and Photoshop. When you are in the settings window for the tablet config you can find a little box that you can check and it says "Windows ink", if you check it you will have difficulties with one software and if you uncheck it is gonna be the other one that will give you trouble, both software will fail registering sensibility pressure

I'm currently looking at tablets to get, and right now it's down to either this one or the 15.6 Pro. Do you recommend one over the other? I'm considering something like taking the tablet from home to work regularly, but I also want to get some good quality. Btw you've been a huge help with your tutorials and reviews!

For my first tablet, I failed massively and got a really poor one that doesn’t work at all, so this may be the one I get!

Could you give a brief video on your set up at your work station? The dual monitors and the XP Pen set up. Im organizing my art studio and am curious about setting it up at my work station

I would love to buy a display tablet, especially for comic making; for now I use a regular one (xp pen deco 01) but I would probably buy the smaller one

Thanks for the review! I have one question: can you setup the buttons and wheels on both sides to different shortcuts, or they are mirrored on both sides?

One note to anyone using usb-c, if the usb-c is not on your graphics card it will not use your graphics card (for additional processing if your program supports it). Unless you need touch or 4k there is no reason to go to Wacom over xp pen / huion. My huion has a slider on each side but they have to perform the same shortcut...xp pen 2 dial seems to allow different shortcuts.

I think I saw a VGA port on the tablet.. I am getting myself a smaller one of the Artist series (it's still in the shipping process due to the pandemic going on) but the description didn't say anything about a VGA port or cable. I could honestly need one since my old laptop does not support HDMI. I can just hope, I guess??? Just to make sure I bought a HDMI to VGA adapter but it would be nice if XP-Pen could add more cable options. (Since my previous Huion tablet already had all the cables and port options included.)

Looks very cool! I'm now using XP-PEN 22 PRO E But it kinda sad that PRO E got a air gap between the drawing layer and the monitor. Does 22 PRO R use OGS or GFF? I will really really want to buy it if it does. Loves XP-PEN!

hola, el problema que mencionas sobre los detalles pequeños en los que debes hacer zoom para lograrlos, tambien lo experimente. Me contacte por mail con el sevicio tecnico de xp pen y me enviaron una actualizacion para el firmeware de la tablet y con eso ya puedes trabajar mejor los pequeños detalles sin tener que hacer zoom, ademas de que los ultimas actualizaciones de windows 10 que mejoraron el tiempo de respuesta del trazo en krita y photoshop, aun le falta algo de compatibilidad con clip studio paint, solo espero que pronto lancen un nuevo driver pero en general funiona mejor .

I was using my Huion 19" for a while but the battery (ugh) pens dont charge anymore so it's basically just a monitor now. And I am having such a hard time trying to go back to my Wacom intuos pro small. Wish I could afford this. Going with the 15.6 Pro due to budget. Were I a lucky man, the Cintiq 24 pro is what i am saving for in the long-term

Nice video really enjoyed watching it. I'm drawing on a iPad 2020 right now, but looking to see if i need some investment down the line if it keep it up with drawing.

I'm not have an Artist 22R Pro, but I have an Artist 12 what I use on ZorinOS and used on Ubuntu. The tablet's linux driver is work really well on theese. But I need no notice, it dosen't work like a real driver like on windows. You need to open in terminal with the command ,,sudo (press a space) and drag the Pentablet_Driver.sh into the terminal (in Ubuntu, first you need to run ,,su root" command in the terminal and drag the driver). AND When xou close the terminal, the driver is close too, so when you use the tablet with the driver it must to have opened the terminal too. I hope I can help with it who use any type of Linux.

How is the paralax near the edges? And is there any ghosting? I have a tablet of a different brand and the paralax is fine near the corners but kinda bad near the right edge so it’s kinda hard to scroll the layers menu for example. And the ghosting is terrible so it"s annoying to watch something in motion. My tablet is a Gaomon 2200, I don’t think it’s very popular but it was really cheap, also it came with a dead pixel :(

At 8:50 we can sadly see the typical XP Pen fish-hooks which appear in the end of the lines when doing fast cross-hatching. So far I have used three different XP Pen drawing tablet models (with different computers) and they all had the same problem. Maybe one day it will be fixed. Maybe.
