The Big Fishing Bait Up...but will it work?!

Ойын-сауық

The big fishing bait up - will it work?!
Graeme dons his chest waders and ventures into the unknown at Russell Powerboats Eversley lake to see if he can attract some of the big Tench reputed to live there. Then it’s off to apply a clay poultice to a tree..(???)...followed by a walk up to Mike's woodland to see the best of the Bluebells and Wild Garlic before they fade. He finds some fire starting fungus but does he really know what to do with it? And he makes a big mistake when trying to clean the tubes and pipes of the jacuzzi....Oh dear..that should teach him...Enjoy.

Drying out the King Alfred's cakes in the greenhouse is a good idea Graeme. But you need to store them somewhere warm and dry. I dried a load and stored them in my shed. But then with the damp weather we've had they re-absorbed moisture out of the air and rotted. I had to throw the whole lot away.

Thanks for the upload. Interesting idea about the clay fill on the tree. I've got a similar issue on a huge apple tree on the property. It flowers and produces loads of fruit each year but has a similar hole to the one you showed with lots of damp, flakey and rotting wood inside which I figure cant be good. Might try the clay with a landscape fabric over the top to keep it in there and see if it keeps it going for a few more years. That wild garlic really kicks up a smell....I have a small patch in the back garden and I find it smells a bit like chive or onion.

I have always had bluebells in my front garden Graeme but this year has been exceptional, I have literally had thousands and every one was really dark blue this year . Unfortunately they only lasted about four weeks and have now all died . Does Colin still come to see you ?

Other people thought I was having a senior moment when I told them I thought the "Bluebells" were a really dark "Blue" but glad someone else noticed that. I reckon it is something to do with the long wet winter we had. It can't be the sunshine that's for sure. And yes, Colin does his rounds especially when I have a candidate in the mouse traps, but generally our 2 resident carrion crows nip in first and grab any offerings.

I just put out a few weeks ago some Texas bluebonnet seeds, the plant and flowers looks similar to the bluebells there, almost but not quite. Anyways, those I put out should be almost starting to come up, anytime now 🤞🏻🤞🏻! I put out a bunch of different seeds a few weeks ago, all around the outside of the house, so yeah, 🤞🏻🤞🏻most of them will germinate and come up…?

I did plant seeds myself this year, some have started but some have done nothing. I used to have problems with moles, but this year I am inundated with smaller black slugs. They demolished my best Marigold plants in one night...but they are now paying a terrible price...

A fantastic way to get rid of ant nest's . Is to springkel Aspatan or sakurin ( man made Sugare) , as they will feed it to the queen ant . It will die & so will the collaney. Make you think, what harmful effects it has on humans 🤔

No offense Graeme but it's actually best to just leave a tree alone they already contain the working infrastructure to save themselves and that clay could stop them absorbing as much nutrients as they would need. The best thing you can do for a tree is just dump a bucket of water around it's base for the roots if you use murky water from a lake or pond that';s the best kind of water for it not clean human water
