I try carp fishing on a lake I’ve never seen before

Ойын-сауық

Carp fishing a lake I’ve never seen before. It’s a night fishing and camping episode as Graeme points the car West for the long drive to deepest Devon where he gets to fish a regular day ticket lake, but he has to think on his feet to choose a likely spot as he has never seen the lake before...Will he catch anything? Will he get hypothermia? Does he have the right bait? Where should he cast? It’s all in there as he tries to work it all out but can he save the dreaded blank by fishing through the night? Here he captures the essence of the night fisherman, as usual there is a scattering of his usual humour, so sit back and relax. It’s time for another TOTALLY AWESOME FISHING film.

THIS is the type of fishing video I like to watch. You're calm and soft spoken. You're not forcefully projecting your voice at the camera with your head in the frame, like 90% of these other fishing videos. You don't cut to some drone footage in slow motion, with some obnoxious chillstep music tuning in. Or cutting heavily like it's a car advert. And your gear! You're not peddling some nonsense edge-case setup involving dropping weights, or lead core or some bizarre glug and boilie combination and waxing lyrically about how amazing it is. You've got a running rig on some 18mm boilies. Straight forward, to the point, no faffing around. Cosy. That's what your videos are. Cosy.

I had a holiday there with my dad when i was 11. My mum came too and we stayed for a week and dad and i fished all day every day. Evenings in the clubhouse with Ziggy the owner and all the other anglers. Was an epic holiday and i caught my first 20 lber at 11 it was a humongous 28lb and Ziggy bought me a load of sweets and gave me a trophy. That was some 32 years ago and I’m still mad about fishing.

Glad the film helped lift you. we can all have off days, I'm no different. Soon as I wake up the damn brain is whirring, and its difficult in these unsettling times to get into what I call "neutral"....you certainly cannot be all hyper-up all the time, that would not be real either, but I think I would settle for neutral most of the time...More films to come..I'm editing another hopefully for Friday, and out tomorrow for a day in the outdoors after Pike. And I'm too old to change things now.

I'm still not really into the lake fishing like that but the bug has hit me hard this year been on the river loads and had my best season so far and all wild and on my Chinese feeder rod and reel! Really like the walk around all the trophies. Just finished a book called "course fishing" by H. T. Sheringham its brilliant, I hadn't realised how old it was when I started it but written in 1912 such a cool glimpse into how fishing used to be.

I have to say some of the carp in these commercial venues have terrible mouth damage....is it the 20lb line and being hauled in or does it occur when they are small and poor anglers just rip the hook out of the mouth?

i have a feeling it is when they are match fished in the 3/4lb range. mouth gets damaged, and stays that way.or maybe someone has other theories...i have had some that i couldn't even put up on a film.

I wonder... why do you need to remove the food from the pot and put it into something else in order to consumate it? Can't you just eat it directly out of the pot you cooked it in?

Its probably the mainstay of the UK freshwater fishing scene. Not everyone lives by the sea,I myself am 50 miles from it.And not everyone has access to a river. But there is almost certain to be a stillwater within striking distance of almost everyone, from towns or cities. The cost of fuel today will also surely influence how far someone is willing to drive to have a bit of peaceful fishing.
