We took a vacation down to Marathon Key, Florida where we rented a boat and hit the ocean. We set up above a reef and chummed. It wasn't long before fish showed up. We have some experience fishing in the Florida Keys and know that you would be wasting your time if you don't chum. We came across some Yellowtail Snappers, Blue Runners, Cero Mackeral, and the fish that got away. At least we got to see he jump out of the water.
We used Live Shrimp as bait and cut up squid. The idea is to just have the bait and a "J" hook on, cast the bait into the chum line, let the current carry it away from the boat, watch your line, and when your line starts getting carried away faster, set the hook!
Afterwards, we cooled off by snorkeling by Sombrero Reef. I took great underwater footage of this.
