Lovely solid mechanisms. Looking forward to picking up this springs 4 eBay purchases when home to the Uk this summer. Particularly a Bristol Castle sold as a non runner, though as far as I could see from the photos it’s only problem I’d that the wire between loco and tender is disconnected.

Once you get these things going they are pretty much trouble free but I feel that regular running keeps problems away. I have never seen anything like the solid oil deposit on the Co-Bo's engine. I've just bought an early 8f with a disconnected tender wire. Hoping that just like your Castle it will be plug and play.

Fascinating footage and a sucessful conclusion to a potentially annoying purchase. Difficult to be believe the vendor sent you the CoBo with seized wheels and a non-standard trailing bogie. The early CoCo as noted had rivetted couplings and a fixed upper armature bearing plus the screw on side frames.

It's only the second dud in nearly 500 purchases on Ebay. Heading for a happy outcome and I got a video out of it too. The Co-Bo bits will probably make up a non powered unit for the moment. If I can find a "Crepello" body I can assemble a three rail Co-Co chassis in working order to put it on. At some point the Co-Bo will run.

I believe that lithium grease should be used on the bevel gears connecting the armature with the worm gears shaft.
