My dad just bought 20000 worth of Boeing and Lockheed. He thinks the world is always inching closer to a conflict of massive scale and these two companies will be creating the war machines of the future. China is already working on drone swarm technology that would essentially have one network that includes Tanks, Stealth fighters and various other land, air and sea drones that will be a part of its autonomous network all unmanned. Boeing and Lockheed are also developing autonomous combat machines as we speak. Anyways, hope our children can see the end of this century.

Popular Mechanics had a recent article on how the U.S. Air Force secretly designed, built, and tested (flew) a new fighter jet under their NGAD program. The most impressive part of the new design? It was all accomplished in "about a year". Compare that to the F-35 which was in development by Lockheed Martin for 10+.

They only built and flew a test demonstrator, not even a prototype, they are sometimes built with parts from existing aircraft. with the amount of new technology that’s going to be implemented into this next generation of fighters, just because they flew a test demonstrator doesn’t mean this technology is close yet. Not to mention a new jet now could hurt F-35 sales, we’ll see a new jet when the F-35 production line is either very matured or no longer pumping out new aircraft.

And how they balance different type of jets, like army has APC, light tanks, heavy tanks(MBT), tank destroyers etc. Air warfare, operations are so so fast, that regular mobilized army is slow compared to that, yet still fast compared to WW2 era. Regular army is about putting troops to where you expect enemy come or place you'd quickly run to many possible locations.

To all the people talking about the US selling arms in conflicts: We only sell high-tech military equipment like fighter jets and air defense to allies. Yes American arms companies sell small arms in conflicts that the US gov wouldn't formally touch with a 10ft pole, but so would Russian companies or Indian companies or any company that sells arms. You see militias running around with AK-47s, not F16s. If your country has a military industry, it sells weapons that are used or are intended to be used in conflicts. If your country doesn't have an arms industry, then it buys weapons from those countries that produce them. So please, be a realist and accept the world as it is and don't live in some dream where all countries get along, or some country is evil by selling weapons because if history teaches us anything, that will never happen. There will ALWAYS be wars and conflicts, the only way to mitigate that is to have a powerful enough defense where the potential aggressor calculates the risk is too high to engage in conflict.

Yet, loads of country are actually buying US’s stuff, because it is a way to please us politicians and get some advantages. It has been years that the armament industry don’t sell fighters that are actually meeting countries need. India on the other hand has to keep up with China, that’s why they chose the rafale, and that’s why they might buy a hundred more in the year to come.
