    I’ve been selling my own Guitar and Bass cabinets for the last few months, after spending about 4-5 years building them for myself and as a hobby. I got pretty decent at carpentry and upholstery over the last few years and of course I’ve watched all of the cabinets-building videos on KZread. I have enjoyed seeing your videos so much because you delve into the engineering of your cabs but also talk about the business side of cabinets making, and you give us insight into how you run your business. I aspire to be like you, and designing and engineering a bass cabinet that performs the way yours do is an incredible achievement. I just wanted to say that im a huge fan, and im following in your footsteps. Thank you Alex! 🤘

    Great video Alex, very informative. I have first hand experience as I’m the proud owner of a BB3 which has a custom Vox grill. Without doubt paired up with my Mark Bass IV head is the best sounding bass rig I’ve ever used. I’m still experimenting with different EQ settings so it can only get better. My next door neighbour also likes it as he’s always bang on the wall, sometimes in time with my playing. Just looking for a band to take me on.

    Thanks again Alex, nice to see you putting the magazine reviewers straight on technical matters they seldom understand but write about anyway! By the way, I'm a late diagnosed autistic person who also has a marked tendency to 'go on a bit'; as my mum used to say, "don't ask him, he'll tell you".

    I really enjoy your thorough but easy-to-understand answers! In my humble opinion, there's no substitute for experience as a working bassist combined with engineering know-how!

    Alex can you do an amp that best suits the one 10. It's my main rig for small gigs but feel I'm not getting the best out of it with what I've got.

    Hi Alex! You said there's not much point in making massive active bass cabinets. Just curious of the reasoning here. Why would having a separate head be beneficial for a larger cab (if looking to use a Helix, Kemper, etc.)? Thanks for everything!

    Alex can I ask about cab positioning on stage? Can it be put on an angle stand, or can it be placed in its side?

    You can put it on an angled stand but you’re less likely to need to do that for monitoring purposes as the dispersion is so good. I can’t think of a good reason to put it on its side as it’s almost square from the front - it’ll still work but the SuperCooler won’t be as effective. That’s why we only fit feet to the bottom of the BB3.

    Is big baby 3 loud enough for jamming with guitar and drums? This looks promising… we play a lot of Beatles stuff. Smaller gigs.

  • @BarefacedAudio

    @BarefacedAudio

    Yes, it’s LOUD! Give it a good amount of power and the output is closer to great 4x10” or 2x12” cabs than to 2x10” or 1x15” (and certainly 1x12” cabs). But it’s always interesting when someone asks if it’s loud enough for jamming or gigging with guitar and drums (without adding context like “Beatles stuff”) because a metal jam with 4x12” guitar stacks and double kick drums is going to be a LOT louder than a a blues jam with a 12” guitar combo and a little kit with 18” kick.

    That makes sense! No ya we are closer to a small blues gig than the death metal haha… what amp heads would you recommend to pair with BB3 cab (if any)?

    @@BarefacedAudioyes we had one band in high school that would scream the little practice room down, with a Laney 50 watt combo, probably on about "7", (though where it starts to clip solid state I'm not sure, but the teacher would usually ask me to turn it down if I exceeded "2" during lesson practice), and a drummer whacking away and a singer through a PA with a pair of 1 x 12 cabs. With some soft jazz drummer, and some piano player and acoustic guitar in a coffee shop, my Marshall MB30 is enough bass rig. It has a nice sound, though one of your 1 x 10 would likely walk all over it. Getting loud is not its forte.
