What about Baldseed Tech ?
I have original 770 Pro 80, and bought this 770 Pro X. For me Pro X is the clear winner with its less fatiguing high-mids peak and tighter bass response!
770 Pro was my first decent pair, it's an absolute legend. I recommended it to a ton of friend who still rock it to this day. This release with removeable cable is the icing on the cake, I used to manually add this port in the past.

Mine is the Philips Fidelio X2HR paired with a Soundblaster G3. I still have it and have exactly 1 day to return these. Actually I only a have a couple of hours. What you think? Should I "upgrade"?! Any recommendation to the X2HR? I like these a lot. bassy and tons of fun. Even crazier with the EQ in the amp. It's all a budget target, got these x2hr under a hundred and the dac just for thirty. One thing I do not particularly understand is the open back perks, I don't seem to notice significant differences between open and closed back.
Been rocking the classic DT770s for several years, might have to pick these up. Great video!
So nice to listen to your deep, so calming voice and these vids are so interressting and informational! love you, keep going!
You keep raising the bar on your audio equipment reviews with every new upload, great stuff.
Really excited at the frequency measurement rig. I really hope you post more headphone reviews with graphs. Great video, mate.
Good to see this video come out. I picked up a pair to check out the new drivers with the classic teddy bear hug fitment. Had sold off or given away previous models due to noticing the sibilance.
Was just looking at upgrading my live headsets for bass guitar at my church. My AT’s are getting a little tired and this model seems to handle all of my objections. Could not have come at a better time, always the G O A T 🙌
Perfect timing! I've been looking at the BD 770s for a while and balking at the hard wired cable. Take my money!

That was very nice and smooth clean edit and amazing way of talking keep it up.
I am interested in seeing what these sound like. I might put this on my list. I haven’t had a pair of Beyerdynamics in years
idk why i'm here but i'm listening to this on my dt 770 pros. loved em for 5+ years, can attest to the build quality on these, they've been to hell and back but still sound amazing.
I was going to wait for these, but wound up with the 900 Pro X's as they work better for my home situation. Can confirm the top of the band starts exerting some pressure at the 3 hour mark, but overall I'm happy with them. They've been REALLY solid for Grey Zone in terms of footsteps, too.
Now we just need this for the 990's
I have the 770 and 1770 and love them. Closed back just does it for me and I changed the earpads out with some dekoni ones to get the profile I wanted. Worth keeping in mind that changing pads could be a game changer and even going from one velour to another could have a pretty big impact on sound plus comfort.
Finally they did it! I modded my 770's with a removable cable already but I'll probably have to pick up these new ones
great set of cans...needed a close back and got rid of my 900 pro x for these.
I just bought the 80ohm DT770's a couple of months ago. Obviously with the non detachable cord. May have to look into these as DT770's are amazing!

Interesting. My DT 900 Pro X's broke like three weeks ago, the headband finally truly gave out, so I've been meaning to get a replacement. I'm fully interested to see what these can bring. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for posting this video
Great review!! How do these compare to the DT 990 Pro?
I'm probably 3 pairs deep into DT 770 Pro's over the last decade. They are just synonymous with headphones at this point. They are reliable, repairable and sound great. They are the 'old faithful'. Needless to say, as soon as I watched your video I picked a pair up, happy to support a good product!

Does the quality of the materials used appear comparable to older versions of the DT770s? The limited were my first headphone purchase and I'm curious if the quality of materials/build has been cheapened over time. They are awesome headphones either way!
Your camera work and editing is some of the best I've seen for solo reviewers. Do you do it all yourself? What software do you or your editor use?
wanting to get these, what amp would be a good pair for it?
I got MMX 300 2nd gen as I wanted mic too, very good for the price especially if you want a headset.
Can't wait to see you're acezone aspire review
Nice! Can't wait for them to the same with the TYGR 300R! Only reason I don't get those headphones.
I know this is late... but I'm looking at stepping up from my Sony WH-1000XM3s that I've had forever. I was looking at the HIFIMAN 5XX on drop, but I always hear that the DT1990 is where its at. I don't want to put almost $600 into headphones because then I have to get a really basic Amp/Dac. I was looking at getting the SMSL SH-9 & SU-6 with the HIFIMANs thoughts?
Hey brother, can you help me understand how the stack up against the 1770 I own the 770 250’s the 1990s the 900 600 ohms and several other pairs of headphones as well. Right now I’m using my 770 pros for my electronic drum set and they sound decent but I would like a little more isolation and maybe some more stereo separation so I’m looking for an upgrade. I really love my 1990s so I’m really curious to see if the 1770s would be a worthy upgrade.
What about for watching anime or movies? How do these stack up?
Well I know what I'm upgrading to in like 3 years. I just replaced the pads in my Sennheiser HD598cs
How do these compare to the Tygr 300r for gaming? i've had the 770 880 and 990 in the past and now use the 300r, just curious.i liked the original 770👍
is there a specific eq software that you use for gaming?
Would you say there better than the audeze maxwell in directional sound for like footsteps
Any shorter 3.5mm cable recommendation? I can't only find 3ft or 6ft or longer on Amazon. Ideally between 4 and 5 ft would be great for mobile
How do you think this headset go with CS? Regarding steps
I've been enjoying my DT 1990 Pros for almost 4 years now and the only issues I've had are that the service kit cable (that connects the drivers together) has finally shorted out. However, I've got a cable replacement on the way and it's a very simple fix that you can do by yourself without having to do any soldering. The only reason the cable is even shorted is due to one of my pets getting caught under my desk, snagging the cable and yanking my headphones off my head onto the floor abruptly a couple of times. I expect to keep using these cans for at least another decade without having to service them much if at all.
how this thing compared against the maxwell? i think that beyerdynamic's headphones do last longer especially considering maxwell is using planar magnetic (more fragile), but I need those convenience about the built-in microphone and wireless connectivity. what do your thoughts about these? especially comparing those two interms of their sound quality?
Love mine so far except for me (as an average - small sized woman) on the smallest setting they still are too large. I purchased a cover and it helps a bit but I just needed another inch or so adjustment to fit well. Everything else is great with them and they take EQ well if that's your thing.
Do you think any similarly priced (250 USD or less) headset from any of the gaming companies compete? I know you say that you would have trouble recommending a better closed back - but how about those gaming headsets, like the new Arctis Nova 5 Wireless
Are these actually available only for a limited time or is that just the naming?
I just want something like the nova pro wireless but premium. The batteries being swappable is a game changer
How do these stack up compared to the Audeze Maxwell?
man they should do mini 4 pin xlr balanced on the headphone end, that would be tempting. on the other hand ive got my sony mdr-7506 for my budget carrying close back anyway.
Can you please try the new gateron jade switches on the wooting🙏🙏
Have you tried the fiio jt1
3:30 Would anyone know if that bump at 5-6k would effect someone like me i can be sensitive to symbols and the such when they arent done well since they sound extremely sharp to me and I have extremely "good" hearing which makes it so i can easily hear frequencies above what most people can. Like I can hear the electric noise and coil wine out of tons of electronics that most people cannot hear at all (its one reason why i CANNOT use airpods at all). I wondering if someone like me will be heavily effected by that sort of high frequency bump.
You should make a whole video about we can convince our significan others that we need new gaming gear in our lives. My wife keeps saying I don't need these things LOL LOL! Keep up the good stuff!
I gave them a try and my thought is, get DT700 Pro X if you want the flat frequency response. Or get DT770 Pro X LE if you prefer a little more V shaped frequency response..
How are they for the well cranially endowed? One of the few headphones I've found that fits me well is the K7xx's.

As someone that wears Sony's at a 4 I wear these at a 2, so they get pretty big!
I wish I had a reason to replace my DT770 80ohms cause I really like what I've been hearing about those new Limited Edition ones. I wonder if they perform well enough if they will lose the "Limited Edition" name and just become a normal model.
Had mine for a week now and love them. No complaints and they are only getting better as I break in the pads and drivers.

do you need a mixer for them or can just plug and play in to a pc?
@burns0100
28 күн бұрын
@@idfcdean You can easily just plug and play but they benefit from having more power like most headphones. I use mine with a small dongle dac/amp that drives my IEM's. So they don't need much power. Directly out of my Macbook Pro they are loud at 70-80% so they have some headroom even off a source.
I have the Meze 99 classics and I love them, but I always wanted some Beyerdynamic and these bought me, now I use both and for the 99 user DT770 LE the bass is nice and balanced compared to the Meze. :D
I guess I'm sticking to my old 80ohms 770 pros, bought them not too long ago after my nova 7 broke again so I was in desperate need of a new pair and couldn't wait for this new one ;/
Audeze sells a mini balance connector mic that would probably work with these too

Two things... If I needed to replace my 770 Pro, I would grab these without hesitation based on your review. Heck, it was your review that turned me onto the 770 Pros in the first place. ;) The second thing, however, is that BD has stopped selling the replacement headband cushions that fit these. I know because the "leather" recently started peeling off in one spot on mine and the only available replacements were from 3rd party suppliers, and they're the exact same or poorer "quality" than the original. I recommend, and am currently using, a removable/washable cover that goes over the headband cushion to keep it from flaking/peeling away. Thanks for the killer review as always!

hi, audio nerd here, honestly i wouldnt recommend either but if you really wanted them and struggled to choose id suggest picking off your environment if you're in your room and its quiet and that's all you're really into then the open backs as 9/10 times an open back would be better and its true in this case as well however if you're also going to use them outside in louder environments then probably the 700 for the isolation

Headband and pads are better on the 770 imho, but open-back is always the better choice if isolation isn't a problem. The 900 Pro X isn'T a good headphone for music though, because the new drivers are fairly dull because of too much front dampening.

Anyone who ever had and liked the tuning of the original DT 770 Pro should avoid the new "Limited Edition". I have both and do not like the sound tunning of the new one... 🤔 WHY? The bass feels boomy (and loose), mid range sounds artificial. Both male and female voices have a sharp and thin character. The whole sound signature has this slight an un-natural and boxy feel. It even sounds less open and spacious than the original. It's not a bad closed back headphone for the price... but does not make me listen more and more music (unlike the original) . Even gaming sounds less engaging to me. I like your reviews though.👍👍👍

Why did they use these new drivers?! They should have kept the 80 and 250 Ohm drivers, but now it's definitely a pass. The new drivers are just overdampened and dull, even though the treble is still sharp. Would have gotten it if it came with the old 80 Ohm driver.

@LyK0sa
29 күн бұрын
@@burns0100I wonder how much of that is down to pad wear on his old 770. Beyers tend to relax a fair bit in the treble as the pads break in. Plus you've got the notoriously bad beyer unit variation, so taking a single measurement as gospel might not tell the full story. But ignoring that and taking these measurements at face value, it would look like a downgrade to most people. An even bigger chunk scooped out of the upper bass and lower mids, more recessed upper mids, and even peakier treble.

@@chrisk3127 In the "Pro" line up of 770, 880, 990 the 880 is much newer (ignoring the "vintage" model which is completely different). The reason why I call then browns is because you get neither the benefits of the 770 or the 990. Its a headphone that sounds exactly fine. Just like browns which were made because a large enough company essentially wanted blues that didn't click. Take away the click and you lose a large amount of the perceived tactility (they could have addressed this but didn't as clears already existed). Same sort of thing happens with the 880's and its part of the reason why they often get recommended as a common audiophile headphone, there's nothing bad but also nothing especially great. They're a product made for a market to fill a gap. You'll also notice there is no 1880 or 800 Pro X. Both the 770 and 990 are better at their respective duties than the 880 is at either. Want a amazing separation and sound stage to the point where its nearly detrimental to enjoying music, 990. Want a solid closed back monitoring headphone on par with Sony, Senn, and AKG for recording, live music, podcasting, etc, 770. Don't get me wrong I wont say its a bad headphone as there are many worse ones you can choose, especially for the money. Its just a very conservative pick. Put all 3 models from the line in front of people to try and the majority wont pick the 880's, I have done it with friends. Only one ended up with the 880 600ohm's and a dac/amp for them. It was also their first pair of headphones that wasn't a gaming headset.
