I keep trying other more expensive bourbons, thinking they'll be better...I keep coming back to Evan Williams Black Label. I don't know how they keep it so affordable, but if it had any other name on the label, that bourbon is suddenly a $35 bottle.

Man at 73 I'm with you even the 100) $ bottles are interesting but I'm really not a green apple fan I e drank for years and Evan Williams is just always Fun to drink un complicated but fun and enjoyable like a young girl as I remember in my Youth

I like the EW BinB. I love the WT 101. Both are great for the price. I prefer the range of flavors in the 101.

As others have commented prior to myself, I find both of these to be excellent pours for the price point but, the 101 is definitely a preference. Great show! Cheers!

Yes, that was fun. You guys have good natural chemistry together. These are my favorite two high proof (100ish) value bourbons. I like that they have completely different flavor profiles and always keep a bottle of each. I have also noticed a bit of a difference in Wild Turkey lately (softer, less spicy, still excellent though). Cheers.

Really like both of these pours, but WT101 is preferred.

Love the honesty and how you guys were blown away by your choices.I find each bottle is a journey... if I buy an expensive whiskey and I don't love the neck pour, I remind myself its a year or 2 journey.... these inexpensive bottles don't get the respect of the journey, they are generally drank relatively quickly. I have a EW 100 Bottled in Bond that I didn't love, but drank a little at a time and the oxidation process has turned it into a very nice dram. So good, I can fool many people that can't believe the price range ... With that, WT 101 has been the best bang for your buck for like at least 30 years. Sorry so wordy but, you can't lose with either one, even if your not that patient.

I recently tried the WT101 rather than my usual Bulliet or Four Roses, due to a youtube review as well as it being on sale. I was pleasantly surprised. I can't say I agree with your description of the spirit, but I do enjoy it and agree that anything more expensive BETTER impress me more. Thanks for the video.

I'm really enjoy Wild Turkey 101 Rye for a pour... But I will probably try the Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon also. Price is RIGHT....

I tried EW BiB and it's a Bye-Bye (not Rebuy) for me. I prefer 1783 a lot more. I really like the single barrel but since that's been taken off the market (stupid Evan Williams, grr) that's become more of a special pour for me.

I have both of these bottles. I can drink both neat, but prefer the EW-BIB as a mixer. WT101 is my preferred mixer, non rye. I can enjoy a WT101 neat anytime.

I giggled when Josh said "if either of these are hard to find".

I love that you went off the rails. The spontaneity made for a very fun and enjoyable viewing experience. Cheers ;)

EW bib has its place on most bar carts but WT 101 hands down over a 2" cube. Although I have way to (35-40 bottles) many bourbons to choose from when I do sit & sip to drink either of these...WT 101 on some workdays 🥃 Cheers!

I like them both. Wild Turkey 101 is good on the rocks with warm out of the oven chocolate chip cookies. Tried it last night.

I’ve tried WT101 a few times. I’m just not a fan of WT products. EW BiB is may daily drinker. I keep several bottles around. But I also like pretty much every Heaven Hill product.

I have enjoyed WT101. I need to get the EW BiB to try. I have heard other blogs talk about it especially for the price point. Thanks for the video!

11:00 update, I loved Evan Williams bottled in bond, but 6 months later I'm not enjoying it, and the rules make it hard to tell if it's my palete changing, or different season, or different year. AHHHHHHHH

Being new to spirits, the Evan Williams Bottles N Bond was a recommendation from you guys. Decent. Hits the spot. It’s light. But for $20, oh yeah. One to have around for just a go to for a nightcap. Ty for the recommendation. Next is Wild Turkey 101.

Odly to me they have a strong rye taste turkey 101 lasts longer I just feel for price point Evan Williams wins hands down

The EV BiB drinks a little young and hot, like you say, no doubt. But for the money, it is loaded with very balanced bourbon and barrel flavors which to me deliver a solid middle shelf experience for a near bottom shelf price. I will try WT 101 Bourbon again. I *love* WT 101 Rye but the Bourbon has never been my favorite.

I've just killed my EW BiB recently. Perfectly fine, especially for the price. But I don't see myself buying it again.

Wild turkey 101 has doubled in price compared to Evan Williams in time July 18 2024 and in this time of inflation it matters Evan Williams always has a good taste turkey kind of is lacking the drink ability of Evan Williams bonded that is I like it daily as I enjoy my bacon eggs toast and cantaloupe in season any time of day preferably evening pour with my favorite person

I just checked my inventory over the last 4 years and the number of WT 101 bottles slightly edges out the EW BiB and I currently have a WT 101 bottle but not an EW BiB. So I obviously have a slight preference for the WT. That said, I use both of these primarily as mixers although I would not object to sipping a dram of either.

Evan Williams BiB is one of the only bourbons I've had that seemed to get worse as the bottle got lower. It went from light fruit, cinnamon and nuts to straight nuts.

I always have a bottle of WT 101 on the shelf.

Agree on that he winner in this matchup. What about half a price point up? WT 101 vs 4 Roses Small Batch. 26 vs 30 Dollars, what’s your pick?

I poured my Evan Williams out. Only bottle I ever poured out. It’s thin. Stick with the WT101

Can't remember the last time I purchased Wild Turkey 101. Too many bad experiences in my youth with WT. Love EW BiB for my budget bourbon.

That Evan Williams is the only bottle I ever poured out. It’s thin and isn’t even good in a cocktail. It’s not even close to WT101

It was an interesting matchup.

Wonder how much of the market effects it; wild turkey 101 is about $25 a bottle, but evan williams BiB? that's $17 around me.

I personally find WT 101 harsh and hot on the palate. My favorite lady at my liquor store(who I would put up against any so-called expert) agrees with me. No question that EW is a smoother sipper. In previous videos Erin called EW their go to mixer. Now they change their minds.

I hadn’t had any of the E.W in quite awhile, so I recently picked up a bottle. Compared to 101, I find it one-dimensional and uninteresting. 101, on the other hand, is deeper, richer, more complex, and far better than its price would suggest. My cabinet currently contains a $40.00 bottle of something else that isn’t nearly as good.

Two of the GOATs right there... and the whiskies are good too! 😁 Really hard to go wrong with either of those bottles; they are really just the best values in whiskey, period. I will always have a bottle of each on the bar.

I like both of these, but I do think that the Turkey is better. It's not that the Evan Williams BiB is bad - it's good stuff. It's just that Wild Turkey 101 is even better. 🥃 It's interesting that y'all are getting peanuts from the Wild Turkey. I don't taste peanuts from either one, but I get a definite peanut shell note on the nose of the Evan Williams.

Nuttiness is something a lot of folks pick up in Turkey but we’re usually blind to it. Sometimes a pour like Evan Williams highlighting that note makes it easier to pick up in a side by side comparison.

Wild Turkey 101 clearly wins for me.

I will add my taste to the growing consensus. I love both for sure, BUT......The Evan Williams definitely tastes youthy to me, with a litte astringency on the finish. It is good though. The 101 is just a bit better all around. It has more age and it tastes like it, and no astringency. In my market the 101 is $6-7 dollars more and it is worth it all day long.
