So I work at a local mom and pop restaurant. The only radio station we get is the local country station. I swear to GOD, I know the words to every Billboard top 100 charting country song. That being said, TRUCK BED has got to be the fucking WORST song they play on there. I am a recovering alcoholic and I get to listen to some industry plant talk about alcoholism like it's some sort of quirky character defect over some garbage instrumental that was made in less than 5 minutes. It's so awful.

Brad was already in a shitty moody during this stream, this was the worst time to send in this album.(It was the best time)
Modern country music isnt even country anymore, its just turned into pop and hip hop but with a guy singing in a fake sourhern accent (i firmly believe that none of them naturally sound like that). Its literally just pop music made by a southern person. Bo Burnham's country song is even more true now than it was almost a decade ago.

I was at that WWE event in Philly. They were also playing the David Guetta "I'm Blue" remix during every break. The sound was fucked, half the mics were cutting out, including Hulk Hogan’s. They cut the women's cage match because a storyline sketch where Roman Reigns had a literal fucking boardroom table in the middle of the ring while self-glazing about "loyalty and bloodline" ran too long. What a show.

I love the total lack of self-awareness of all the country singers in the past five years singing about how the genre is dead and how they specifically are the saviors of country music who will bring it back to its former glory, as if they’re not actively contributing to one of the three things that modern country singers sing about.

@@SirLightsOut99 nah it’s still really hard to do. Lemme give u a test. Does this Hardy album or a Morgan Wallen album sound like Midnights by Taylor Swift? No, I’d say. What about other popular albums like years like GUTS, SOS, or Utopia? No for the first two, I’d say, and Morgan’s albums does have some rap influence so u could say it has some elements like Utopia. But other than that, it’s straight country (or rock, in Hardy’s case). I think these guys are pioneering new country and country-rock sounds, respectively
@jessie6600

@@gamingsquad2326 I wouldn’t be so sure about that. He wrote a lot of Morgan Wallen’s songs, and Morgan had the #3 album in the world last year. i dont understand americans in country writing about their small towns and their country life because you go and look up the populations of the "towns" they grew up in and theyre all in the mid hundred thousands. sometimes even 1 millions. maybe i just have a skewed opinion of what rurality is like cus i live in one of the more population-sparse places in the world but its just funny to me that these guys are boasting about living in the middle of nowhere poaching and fishing to survive walking along dirt tracks (which somehow have TRUCKS on them?!?!!?!?!?) while also being born and living in large towns/small cities with like multiple supermarkets and malls and basically all the anemeties that you dont actually get in rural communities. meanwhile i know a guy who actually DID live like that for a few years and hed never boast about it like that

the funniest part about radio song is that the joke chorus is easily the best sounding part of the album
At my old place of employment, they'd play this type of country all the time and super loud too. I've heard Truck Bed (which I thought it was Morgan Wallen tbh) more times than I ever wanted to
21:42 The reaction to my comment made the video❤ Also, that comment was kind of a parody of when you said, "I would be lying if I told you I hated this song." In other words, I was only half joking.
29:30 "I pray I don't leave this world before country music does" makes no sense? because he's complaining that country music is dead/dying. so surely he'd want to die *before* country music, so it lives on to future generations etc. why is he saying he wants country music to die before him if he's sad country music is dying
Personally, I think “wait in the truck” is emblematic of what’s wrong with this whole album (at least in its lyrical content) It’s a message that many could relate to, but doesn’t add anything to the actual conversation around it. Hardy chose what is most listenable to people (punishing abusers = good), without actually discussing the morals/consequences of it. Just like the rest of the album, it appeals to real problems with absolutely no substance. It’s soulless to its core
i cant stop watching this video, this is like my fifth rewatch. it’s just so funny
i love the presentation of Brad wearing a Death Cab For Cutie shirt reviewing a country album, peak music reviewing💯
I remember listening to this whole album after Anthony Fantano's review. I just couldn't take the product placement and faux "authentic" feel.

I hear that shitty sunburnt Silverado song at least 5 times a day at work.
TBH, this album had potential, especially with the first half. It was charming in a way. It's easy to enjoy, it doesn't take a musical genius to enjoy them! Then I listened to the rest, and yea, I gotta agree with you. The album's not only bad story-wise, but super hypocritical. I mean the song after SOLD OUT (which is literally a song about country artists and how they're being nothing but beer and truck shills) is a song about Jack Daniel's. You know, THE THING HE MADE FUN OF IN THE SONG BEFORE THAT?!?! And the rest of the second half (except I AIN'T IN THE COUNTRY NO MORE) is awful. TL;DR: This album is musically OK - the songs in the first half are charming imo - but story-wise, it's not good. It had potential, but it got super contradictory super fast, especially in the second half.
10/10 would drink again
The second half feels like he heard some of cane hills more tame songs like singing in the swamp and said wouldn't it be great if this sounded like a quarter of the effort was put in.
Joey Moi also produced all of Morgan Wallen and Jake Owen’s music. Jake Owen was like the prototype for Morgan Wallen, and all of them are children of Nickelback. Joey Moi was actually the biggest selling producer of 2023 thanks to Wallen and Hardy.
