Alpkit Splitta Lightweight Table
Just because you are on a lightweight trek doesn’t mean you have to give up all your little luxuries. Splitta is the personal kitchen countertop for the great outdoors.
For all of its beauty it is rare to find flat surfaces in nature, so where do you put your Mytimug full of freshly brewed morning coffee?
This aluminium folding camping table breaks apart and lays flat so you can stash it in your rucksack. The sprung wire legs hold everything together to provide a stable and secure work

The verdict is in after seeing the Alpkit Splitta on Andrew beavers KZread channel for the first time before Christmas I knew i needed to get the alpkit table .
It weighs more than cascade but its worth the extra weight .

Thank you for reviewing the Cascade Wild table which I invented. A few observations: First: when you set the table up you can bend the table top (the two middle folding grooves) back the other direction to counter the memory of the plastic, which will allow the table top to sit flat and the hook and loop dots on the cross braces to line up correctly. There is a 10 second animated video on the Valley & Peak website showing how to set up the table. Second: the table is designed to use with a canister stove (like a Jetboil) and has room to hold a stove, a mug, a bowl, and utensils (as you can see on in pictures on Valley & Peak and more on our website). Third, the melting point of the plastic is 324 degrees; you can pour boiling water (or even set a pot of boiling water) on the table without damage (your video says the table is liable to melt, that is not the case). No doubt the Cascade Wild table is not as stable as a table made of metal but the reason the Cascade Wild table even exists is to be able to conveniently get personal gear up out of the dirt and mud, at an absolute minimum weight. The Alpkit table weighs more than SEVEN TIMES the weight of the Cascade Wild table. Before I designed the Cascade Wild table, years ago I bought a Snow Peak Ozen table, similar to the Alpkit. The Ozen never actually made it on a trip because when it came time to make the final cut, I just couldn't justify that much weight for a non-necessary item. If pack weight was not important, I too would always choose a more stable table like the Alpkit. But many times pack weight IS critically important, and that is why the Cascade Wild table was created. Thanks again for the review. ---- Jim Hamel, Cascade Wild

The cascade one is still a nice little light weight table and I will still be using it on some of my lightweight camping adventures. As I said in my own personal review I mainly use the camping table for colder weather camping and I would be using my larger bag. Both products are very good that’s why I bought them both Both have pro’s and con’s as I said in my independent review. Keep up the good work Jim 👍

Nice review mate. I went for the aluminium Trekology table, for the reasons you mentioned (heat resistance and strength). I don't mind carrying the extra weight. Take care mate, Jono 😊👍🏕️🌲

Bought the Cascade Wild table whilst I was at the Outdoor Expo this year. Originally I was going to buy the Splitta but it is rarely in stock at Alpkit, however is the same design as the Robens Wilderness table, so I might try one of those and see how it compares.

I’ve got the Alpkit one for £16, it’s lovely. I think the Cascade one is such a rip off for what it is. You can make your own so easily and cheaply :)

Get the Soto field Hopper folding table it's a better table but you do need to shop around to get it at a reasonable price

Why don't they put holes in the surface of the Alpkit and take off some ounces in weight?

This design looks very similar to Snow Peak’s Ozen Solo table. I wonder which one came first. Anyone own both?

The melting point of the Cascade Wild table is approximately 324°F. Might work with a pot. Be interesting what the average temperature of the pot bottom is when taken off the burner.
