My girlfriend watched the fallout show with me and loved the universe so much that i helped her set up a steam account and she bought new vegas and I helped her mod it up and she is absolutely loving it. It's insane to see how much people who never really play video games still can see how amazing this game is. *spoilers* She started playing about a week ago and is already at the point where shes picking which factions she likes and wants to keep around.

Then I would add Realistic AI overhaul (pretty straight forward) Caliber Based Damage - espless (this mod makes the bullet the gun shoots affect its damage using a ratio of 4:1 so an smg still does less damage than a pistol due to its rapid fire nature but they still do more general damage) Immersive Damage Multipliers - ESPless (I would pick anywhere between 1.5x and 2.5x, I personally use 2.0x but pick whatever you want} WAP 10 year and Bonus (improves many weapon models) Also I think for a lot of people they hate the carryweight mechanic, which i do too. When you start a new chracter and exit doc mitchells I would just go into the console and type: player.modav carryweight 600 (or whatever number you want) This will add 600 pounds of carry capacity to your character so there is less back and forth to vendors all the time.

As one of my favorite games of all time with over 1000 hrs, this guide was a godsend!! I just finished installing everything and as soon as I saw Doc Mitchell I knew the time invested was worth it. Heck even the load times in the main menu were lightning fast! Can’t recommend this modding guide enough! Completely changed my experience and I haven’t even left Goodsprings yet. The only section of mods that gave me trouble with crashing were the UI mods, but I just disabled them and everything seems just fine

after battling to get this game running on my newer hardware, I installed this huge mod pack and the game is phenomenal now. Definitely the way to play it in 2024. Thank you!

I heckin love fallout 1 and 2 but I've never made it very far in any of the other fallout games. I'm hoping that following this guide will spark my interest in New Vegas.

I followed the guide and my game look as smooth as your gameplay starting at 1:50. Otherwise, minimal crashes and it runs.

I played all the Fallout games right after they were released. Fallout 1 and 2 are special for me, because it all started with me begging my dad to get me to the nearest shop to get that "sci-fi RPG" (I only played fantasy RPGs on PC before that time). Although I was still too young, I immensely enjoyed those games (the first more than the 2nd) and replayed them from 2010 to 2018 every year (part 1 - the year after part 2). For the newer (Bethesda) games, New Vegas is special, because it was developed by Obisian Entertainment. The writing just hit a little bit different, this time. It of course is far more "jank" and "vintage" compared to Fallout 4, but imho it still holds up the best when it comes to writing. As Fallout 4 is the only game in the whole series I have not finished (still counting all the spin-offs like BoS, Tactics, etc. and because my savegames were corrupted at the ~150 h mark) I'd rank them: Fallout New Vegas > Fallout 3 > Fallout 4. For 76 it depends on what kind of player you are and if you enjoy the game solo or with a friend or two. 76 was gifted to me shortly after release, but I struggled with crashes and overall just the lack of NPCs. So I abandoned the game and set it aside, only returning when the Wastelanders DLC was released. But it was still too buggy with crashes etc. But from what I heard (and your 76 videos), it was patched up quite a bit. But I really hope Bethesda won't use that ancient Creation Engine for any upcoming Fallout game. 😅

Man I just started playing this game on my series x & it’s been fun but it feels dated af, the lack of sprint, slow combat, but the writing & world are keeping me hooked, I had tried NV when it was new when I was a kid but I got impatient & never finished it, the show made me come back & finish it fr this time 😅

Yeah man, OG New Vegas is dated as hell. But it's still my personal favorite. If you can run it on PC & follow the Viva New Vegas guide it'll be a night & day difference in feeling more modern.

@@MoldyBread90 It's definitely the foundation to start from. Seems heavy, but it's just a walk through. The spooky parts are dropping a few files into the main New Vegas folder, but it's definitely needed. For instance, one of the files you drag & drop into the main New Vegas folder upscaled the fuggin engine. DX9 to DX11. Follow the walk through, then add your mods. If you're using Mod Organizer 2 ( and you fuggin should), the lower mods have priority 😎

What do you mean? They are regular Nexus downloads. The downloads will take a while if you do not have a subscription, but they can be queued and will download automatically. You just need a bit of patience since we are talking about several GBs of files.

Literally just finished going through the Viva New Vegas walkthrough myself & as someone who still has my New Vegas Collector's Edition, this is the best NV has ever run or looked. The difference is just silly. Feels great, runs great, and looks so much better once you drop the right DXKV file in. I didn't even know what DXVK was. Just be sure to click on the Performance & Stability Guide when you get to the end of the Bug Fixes chapter of the walkthrough. *It's mandatory for AMD builds.* Also, almost everywhere I look says not to worry about 4k textures on everything. After seeing how good the old shitty textures look after following this walkthrough, I can see why 2k Textures would be a good standard for playing. 4k is more unstable, but good for screenshots.

Personally I like NMC's Texture pack (small size) and Poco Bueno on top of that. That's the best compromise between looks and preformance that i've found (personally, in my opinion). also i slap a reshade in there with slight bloom and very subtle vignette

@@yamo511 Nice, I pretty much did the same. It took me a while to realize how to tweak my ReShade but I eventually got it looking great. Night & day difference. A tiny bit of Chromatic Aberration also had a great effect at making my ReShade & lighting mod pop after I found it in my ReShade settings.

You don't need DXVK, at least not anymore. You can just use the patched AMD drivers and it'll work. You won't be able to alt-tab, but that isn't really a concern for most people.

@@pattondurio It is if you're like me and like streaming the game on discord for friends, or checking the wiki to remember how to trigger companion quests, or you just have multiple monitors. For all these reasons I run DXVK and used RTSS to limit my framerate so the physics didn't go crazy.

Im playing through Fallout 3 right now without any mods and yeah it's pretty janky. Only had 1 crash in 10 hours and it was right after a save so it wasn't bad. Just wish i could run it above 60fps without the engine freaking out.

Try the TTW MOD it combines new vegas and fo3 and you get uncap frames but would recommend to cap it at 60-120

Yes :-) First, VNV relies on multiple mods developed by different members of the Nexus community. Creating a single package would mean that VNV would need to update and re-upload to Nexus the (very large) package every time one of its mods changes. This would entail a lot of unnecessary work. Second, modding these games is a very individual experience and there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all package. So, you would need multiple packages to cater for different potential configurations. In short, it is much easier and flexible to have separate mods and a common installation guide.

@@peixecartilaginoso the problem is graphics driver updates can break a lot of those old mods, Wabbajack (as mentioned above) is the only real solution, and VNV provides that as an option, but it'll still take some work to get right, and if you don't have nexus premium, it involves a lot of clicking.

New Vegas is a Masterpiece no matter what year!

My game has been performing AMAZING on my Xbox series X. I've never seen New Vegas look so good. The FPS boost is a game changer.

@@yamo511 The Console version of New Vegas is the most stable version, so he probably just means the newer consoles give it a nice boost.

I play modless new vegas on my laptop and only experienced like maybe 5 or 10 crashes max it’s not as bad as my friend in his gaming pc

I tried to play it lol added mods just to try to make it run. Couldn't. Got so frustrated.

Best way to play New Vegas is to install Wabbajack and the "Begin again" TTW mod pack. It bundles 3 and NV together. But also adds a bunch of quality of life improvements and brings them into the modern era. Its better then anything BGS is ever gonna do with these games.

I just finished installing Viva New Vegas and for some reason the game now runs at like 8fps..... what did I do wrong lmao!?

I wish I could do this, but I am too stupid.

I’m finishing up my ttw playthrough in fallout 3. But now that I’m here I’m thinking the game will be too easy in New Vegas because you get to keep all your perks. Not to mention I wanna play a different build and you can’t change your special without console. The more I look, the community mostly sees TTW as a better way to play fallout 3 as opposed to a way to play both games together. I’m beginning to understand that a little.

I've had some issues personally, I think it stemmed from a pop-up getting accidentally clicked before I could read what it was I clicked. I think that's why I think MO2 couldnt find the game, I tried and failed to figure it out (and may have made it worse). Then I decided to delete all the progress I felt confident wouldnt cause issues, and tried the wabbajack route. Upon finding the modlist in wabbajack I couldnt find a way to designate the download location before download, maybe the modlist download location was that afterall. But anyways, I downloaded the modlist and it said the installation has failed because it can't find the game. I did make a separate folder that I downloaded everything in, well three so I have a place for the game, then wabbajack, then the modlist. I feel like I didnt mess anything up since going down this wabbajack route and Im not sure what to do anymore and Im afraid that I'll further complicate the issue insuring I never actual get this done. One thought I've just had is it could have to do with my AMD processor or whatever, but I thought that fix was later in the process. Sorry for the messy and long explanation, if anyone can make any sense of this I'd be extremely grateful :)

For AMD Drivers, just follow the performance guide linked in Viva New Vegas, the files you need will depend on your needs. Personally I run DXVK along with OneTweak for alt-tabbing and RTSS to cap framerate and fix wacky physics. Wabbajack itself is kinda janky, personally I'd recommend looking up a general tutorial for Wabbajack or just following the VNV guide *exactly* as written.

You probably have an AMD graphics card, check the stability guide linked in Viva New Vegas. What you'll need from there will vary based on your needs, I run DXVK to fix the crash, OneTweak to allow alt-tabbing, and RTSS to cap framerate and prevent janky physics.

I have spent dozens of hours trting to get into New Vegas, I've never tried harder to give a game a chance. But I just don't get engaged at all, (the perfomance and janky gameplay don't help). But if the mod can actually get me into it, then I'd be willing to give it a go.

The gameplay has always been a weak point for new vegas. This modlist helps make the game feel less jank but it keeps combat fundamentally mostly the same, I would highly recommend finding some 1:1 damage scaling mod to get rid of bullet sponges. So it can feel better with the new gun animations and better crosshair and less annoying weapon wobble and spread, and also not having to shoot some raider in the head 12 times to kill them. If i were you I would install off the nexus: Caliber Based Damage - espless (this mod makes the bullet the gun shoots affect its damage using a ratio of 4:1 so an smg still does less damage than a pistol due to its rapid fire nature but they still do more general damage) Immersive Damage Multipliers - ESPless (I would pick anywhere between 1.5x and 2.5x, I personally use 2.0x but pick whatever you want} Hope this helps

I would really recommend PC for the mods. Not just adding stuff, there are literally thousands of bug fixes. You don't need a powerful PC to run it, either.

The Console version is the most stable version of New Vegas, you won't have as many crashes or game-breaking bugs, but you're also stuck with the old gameplay. I ran NV on Xbox One for a long while and none of that hurt my enjoyment of it.

I can't believe they haven't found a stable way to repackage these mods into one installer. Even with the install guide this is LAUGHABLY complicated for what is basically stability patching a 14-year-old game.

I managed to set up the whole list of 122 mods without any issues and add new vegas reloaded on top, definitely took a good while which is annoying but the guide itself is pretty fool proof really if you actually read it properly

You can also go over to the nexus mod collection and do a one click install with Vortex with a mod pack called new new Vegas. It has over 600 mods that overhaul the whole game.

I´ve been trying to play Viva New Vegas but I can´t figure out how to play the game using DXVK, which I am required to have since I have a AMD graphics card, in fullscreen. The only way I can play is if I put the game in windowed and vsync off otherwise I'll have low fps, does anyone know how to fix this?

amd fucked up every 2024 driver for new vegas, so either rollback the rover to december 2023 or get the latest one(there is a hotfix for nv on the latest )

Yep, achievements still work, I ran like 240+ mods and still got them. The only thing that breaks them is console commands, and only for that session (ie, if you close out and load a save you used commands in, it still works).

Just means the mods can't live in the root folder of the game library, ie just make a new/separate folder for the mods as outlined in the guide
