THE BEST WAY TO MAKE YOUR MTB HUB LOUDER!! (HOPE)

Спорт

This video is a full tutorial, Showing you how to make your hope pro 4 hub extremely loud.
Making your hub louder will make your hub wear faster. I would advise keeping a small layer of grease around your pulls.

Sound is friction. To maximize noise on my track bike, I simply poured beach sand into my hub. I estimate this added around 1.3hp to my crank as well.

Haha, More friction= a better workout! Especially when you're PEDALING ALWAYS! My fixed gear commuter wheels use 45 year old Campy Record hubs. I got them new in 1977! I wonder how long they would have lasted packed with sand?? A really old track racer's trick is to pack your hubs with simichrome silver polish / ride NO MORE than 200 feet/ degrease THOROUGHLY and change the balls, use light oil for lube. It works great but you'd best NOT ride far! I'm surprised I haven't seen an idiotic video like this before, but it's always job security for mechanics like me!

@@natearellano4919 Grease add drag? Yes, but if you add tension over the pawls you also add drag even if there's not grease. Manufacturer put grease there to reduce friction and avoid premature wear. Wear won't destroy the hub like other comment says, but is common that the pawls start failing at the engage, they are supposed to engage all at the same time, when the wear is done they don't and it start making an annoying "creak" while pedaling. You can see that kind of drag in cheap hubs where there's too much tension on the springs and the bike pedals with the hub (and with normal bearings not the ceramic ones where it is normal) If you wanna make it louder the safe way you can clean the grease and use freehub oil like the one from Dumonde Tech. it will make it louder, reduce friction, and prevent wear, it won't last and protect bearings as the grease but it'll make the job on the pawls.

wd-40 is used as a temporary fix for rusted parts. It will become a drying agent after a week that will bore out your bearing cage and ruin your hub. For this to work you would need to take apart every week. This can also cause the bearings in freewheel to jam into pins and freeze the freewheel causing crash.

PLEASE NOBODY DO THIS. The creator does not know what he is talking about. Yes it would make your hubs louder but this is because when you remove the grease, the pawls hit into the hubs teeth directly with nothing in between them. What this means is that you will reduce the life of your hubs significantly. Removing the grease could void the warranty as well. If you just leave the grease in there it will sound the same but will last longer. The sound does not improve your performance. Instead save your money and get a better hub with higher points of engagement. This way you could even sell your old hubs and save a lot of money. If you follow the videos instructions, you will be left with a ruined hub and be put in a position where you NEED to replace it. Since you were not prepared for this, you could be having to take money you didn't want to spend, leaving you with a lower budget and worse hubs than the ones you began with.
