The Best Way to Freeze Food: Longer Shelf Life and Rapid Defrosting
Freezers are great for long-term storage, but they're only useful when you can defrost food quickly with minimal loss of quality. So what's the secret? The key for better quality frozen food is to minimize the time it takes for your food to freeze and defrost, which means freezing flat to maximize surface area to volume ratio.

Man... I decided to start eating healthy about 3 years ago. I had no clue it would evolve into one of my most involved hobbies, preparing everything from scratch, cutting up and weighing out portions of produce and meat, stocking weeks worth of food at a time. Never in a million years would I of guessed this would be something I'd ever be interested in, but damn I've been enjoying it the last few years. Thanks to channels like these, I've learned so much.

You will never know how much this helped me be prepared for Covid and the shortages by having my freezers packed to the gills with assorted meats and foods. Thanks so much!
Excellent tips! I especially like the your method of pushing out the air in the flat packs at the last corner and the defrosting on aluminum trays.
This is a little embarrassing, but I’m about to be 27 years old and I didn’t know most of these tips. Thank you so much! I’m so happy that I came across this video even though I’m really late 😊

i m 57 nor did I, there is no shame. I never had my own freezer
Wow this is really helpful. This is the best freezer organization video I’ve seen yet!
Great video. I'm a bulk buyer and cook. So items stay for longer periods of time. So for this reason I'm a big fan of my food saver vacuum machine. I can keep meat up to a year without any freezer burn. Its a big investment in the beginning, but I think it's worth it.

If you freeze in a deep freezer rather than a frost-free freezer, meat and most other products will last not only for a year but literally forever.
This is absolutely amazing! I've been very paranoid about freezing food and no matter how many times somebody explains how to squeeze the air out, it sure helps to watch it happen and hear your extraordinary talent for explaining. Thank you very much!
I was already doing this but for organizational purposes, I like to file my food. I didn’t realize it was also the best way to freeze 😁
Finally - the best way to do it - been looking for such a way for a very long time. Thank you so much. Subscribed.
Incredibly helpful and informative. Thank you so much. I’m going to follow you for sure.
Thanks for this video, it was exactly what I'm looking for. Heading to the store to grab some of these bags now! 🔥

Thank you so much for these tips! I learned a lot!!
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!
I have done this same technique for years and yes, it’s perfect - also takes up less room in the freezer. I do however, double bag.
This is practical and simple. Flat pack and aluminium. Great video.
Great info to prevent freezer burns which caused a waste of food Thanks for sharing etc
Awesome Video! I love the use of science! Having watched the video I remember, that I was told everything mechanic of this at some point in my life but I wasn't clever enough to apply it like you did.
This video is exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks so much 👍

Great tips!
Thank you that was very helpful.
Very good video, learned more about the silence behind this. Great. BTW long can I keep juices and soups in the freezer?
Very interesting, thanks!
Good presentation 👌
great tips! you can squeeze out the air by slowly submerging the bag in water, too. not sure how difficult it would make it to spread the meat out evenly though. maybe you could spread it out first, and when you're about to finish, submerge it and seal it up, making sure no water leaks in. that way all air pockets in the meat itself would get removed.
That was helpful. Thank you
Great video!! Thank you!!
This is so helpful!!! Thank u
You are awesome! Thanks for this video
Thank you great information
the aluminium tip is the best ! appreciate your vid
I’ve been doing the flat pack method for years now. It allows you to break off only as much ground meat/soup/sauce/stewed beans/rice or small pasta as you need. If you’re not comfortable having the bag stand on its own, put it in a two-cup measuring cup and fold the excess over the lip of the cup. This not only makes the bag sturdier, it also makes sure the bag is only about half full.
Thanks for tips
This is so helpful.
Wow super preservation. Thank u
Love the Han Solo bit

This is the video I did not know I needed:o
Thank u for this now i learned something new

Thank you
Very helpful! 👍
Love your videos and tips. As for freezing things like steaks, chops, etc., I wrap each piece in plastic wrap then aluminum foil. Does this makes sense?
@op3129
4 жыл бұрын
it does. I've done that for years. (two layers of plastic, and crimp the foil to be VERY tight, including both ends.) I found some steaks wrapped that way in back of our freezer that were (don't gag) two years old. they were still perfect ... and very yummy.
I was very much happy and convinced 100/100 for your tips.I am in to buying a freezer as I am using frozen veggies and coconut and a busy person with work so thought to buy , but still confusing as I am also looking for a fridge too , so what do you suggest a seperate freezer and fridge . Or will it work if I buy side by side fridge please help . My family includes 3 adults and a 10yr kid . Thank you.
Thanks!!!
I lay them flat in flat baskets from dollar general.....take whole basket out...take what you want...then return to freezer. You can stack baskets also On top of each other in freezer.
amazing sharing good work
Hi, Its a great video. Are they ziploc freezer bags or some other brand?
TY!
Good job 👍
EXCELLENT !
Hi i keep some foods in container but im getting popup sounds can you tell me list of foods to freeze
I like you. You seem very friendly ☺️
Cool video.
Can we freeze coked rice as well and fir how long mostly in our fridge we can cooked rice for two or maximum 3 days.
Hi what do you suggest for freezing egg rolls and shipping them?
Thank youuu!!!!😋
Vacuum sealer is the way to go.
Great, straight forward, informative and logical, no nonsense with minimal annoying music in the background (although still too much/loud) it doesn't make the video more interesting or better despite the misconception among you tubers) lowering the sound minimizes the annoyance though. Thanks for the video
How long will last on the freezer cooked meals and frozen meal for the crockpot??
Thanks for the video!!! If I cook my meals e.g. pasta with chicken, can I then freeze it, defrost in the refrigerator overnight and eat it the next day by just heating in the oven? Any risk of food poisoning here?
Awesome 😊
Its crazy how im watching this on 9/16(21) the date you put on the ground pork.....
Hi, thank you for the tips, but can we reuse back the zipper bag for another time?
Can I freeze flooda (vermicelli), and how. Pl reply.
I usually give my food in the ziplock bag a little fold over with the slack on bottom and the food on top, that way the weight of the food itself squeezes out all the air. No need to massage the air out.
Thank you sir 🇮🇳👍🙏
HAN!
This guy knows the stuff. teh right stuff
How long do i ve to freeze a soup that would be out of the freezer for 2 days and still remain fresh,.
Squishing ground meat too much can make the meat/texture tough (kind of like over kneading wheat dough), the proteins get tightened and tangled. So, I'd try to flatten the bags of ground meat with as little hard pressing as possible.
OK, quick question. Once I've thawed Han Solo, what's the best way to prepare?

You can put them on a cookie sheet on one layer, ideally w/o touching each other and freeze flat. Once frozen, put them all in the freezer bag with air out.
plastic free options?
