    Ridiculous dial on that SPB167, love it on the metal bracelet. Was considering the SRPE43 with that patterned blue dial that comes with the blue leather strap, but your recommendation introduced me to this showstopper. Currently have an SRPE57 and recently acquired a Longines Presence. Next bonus is probably this Seiko, Longines DolceVita or I'll save two for the Nomos Club Campus / Tangente platinum grey. Hopefully I can show your site some love cause you've been putting me on some serious game! Keep up the good work.

    I saw an earlier video of yours Teddy about the Alpinist (I believe it was the SPB119). After watching that, I bought one straight away. I rotate it with my Apple Watch depending if I need quick access to my notifications. Everyone says it’s a great casual/dress watch, but I’m a hiker and camper and find the rotating inner bezel very practical. As a outdoorsman I am prepared for the worst case scenario and my SPB121 is part of my survival kit. I am also a teacher, so for formal occasions it also suits me as a sporty dress watch. It’s definitely a niche watch but it suits me perfectly. My wrist is also impossibly thin and this fits it just, so that’s another win for me. Keep up the awesome work and I look forward to my next watch purchase as recommended by you. From Far North Queensland, Australia. Mark.

    Loved both GMT's, Doxa and Mido divers (plus some other great divers!). With the amazing abundance of watch brands (including dozens of very nice German watches - and the list goes on) - you had a hard task in front of you with this one. On that note, I wonder whether it would be an idea to start looking a little more outside the square at some of the many brands that rarely seem to rate a mention - not because of the quality etc, rather a lack of marketing or how they may sell directly only.

    The best watches for 1000$ (Actually for way less), would be a replica I purchased online. After owning a GMT and OP for almost 10 years I wanted to get myself a Hulk for my 60th birthday, about 2 weeks later I came across a page about high end clones and decided to give it a try. Once came I compared it to my original GMT (in terms of quality, feeling of the steel etc), I understood one thing, China can't be beaten. There is no chance ANYONE will be able to spot it as a fake.

    Nice list of watches in the $1K mark. Nice that you added a section on Quartz watches. Yes, that Longines is amazing + or - 5 secs per year - pretty wild -- I think a "tuned" GS can get that accurate, but I think GSes are officially rated more in + or - 10 sec per year range -- and I read a while ago that Casio -- has a movement that is in the + or - 1 sec per year range -- but more expensive I think -- i.e. in the $3K-ish range.

    Overall got to love TB's videos, but this one goes to the top tier for me _ And totally like the dress watch choice though i will take same Junghans in a black dial; one of three choices i picked in TB contest about a year ago thinking "they" would review the entries and make their decision rather than pick the winner out of the hat, so to speak, oh well that's the way it goes, still a big fan for all the knowledge and keeps my wheels spinning on the watch market, thnx TB and Co . . . :>/

    I have 5 Mido All Dials, they are my favorite. It's too bad they discontinued that line, but I think all Midos deserve more airtime. The other brand no one seems to discuss is Certina, have a couple of those. Also, Yema should be on the list, even a little cheaper. Finally let's not forget Alpina and Rado, esp. the ceramic square case dress watches which look like jewelry.

    You seem to have a good deal of knowledge on Tissot (as evidenced in your recent videos). Any talks of a smaller Gentleman in a more traditional size? I think it would be an absolute hit and they’ve done it with the PRX and Seastar.

  • @gpearce11

    @gpearce11

    2 жыл бұрын

    Technically, a smaller Gentleman already exists in the T-My Lady. Unfortunately, at 30mm, I'm pretty sure it's not what you're after. Also, unfortunately, as they have already introduced the T-My Lady, we're unlikely to get a 35-36mm version of the Gentleman because Tissot generally considers the smaller version the "Ladies version" (see the PRX, PR100, Seastar 1000, etc), and I don't think we're going to see a "Ladies Gentleman". Speaking of the PR100, if you want a smaller Gentleman see if you can find a PR100 Powermatic 80. While it's only 1mm smaller at 39mm, it has much smaller lugs and wears more like 38mm (whereas the Gentleman wears like 41mm).

    I'm sure that I've said this before about the Baltic GMT, but from a design point of view it really does look like a Doxa Sub 200 clone (with added GMT function)!

    Was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of watches that I have on my list here! About the Tissot PRX, I actually think the Quartz version with the plain dial, makes it a lot more rounded. That version I think can be worn in "dressy" situations. Anyhow, the Seiko SPB121 is absolutely stunning, came across on a random website and was astonished that it was under 1k. Absolute Steal!

    What about the Panova for an everyday watch? 100m water resistance, multiple straps, thin and great dial size.

    Mido Multifort Dual Time for GMT? It's right around $1000, 80 hours of power, 100M water resistance, it's got pretty much everything.
