The Kirklands are $27 for 24 balls. Thats $13.50 a dozen. They are just as good in my testing as a ProV1 and almost 4 times cheaper. Nothing, and I mean Nothing comes close to that value.

Great idea. Let’s try all the low cost balls to test. I’ve switched from ProV1x to Vise Pro Plus and it works just as good no doubt. And I swore by Titleist balls. All my extra money goes to extra rounds of golf. So when I can save money on balls and gloves I’m game. Costco has 4 Kirkland gloves for $21 as well. Just as good as top brand gloves

The Kirkland golf gloves are easily the best value in golf gloves. Three for the price of 1 "premium" glove. Just as good, and most of my friends have converted as well. I can't imagine the ball is much worse than the ProV1x. Now to watch the video and see what the boys think.

Yep Titleist players glove is my glove of choice and have tried a bunch of cheaper ones to save money. Costco is the only glove that I’ll play other than the players and it’s the only glove I’ve played the past year

You buy a set of 4 large , you usually get 2 large , 1 medium large for someone with emaciated fingers and 1 XL for a butchers palm . And the cheap tanning process dye used , irritated my dermatitis especially when worn for more than 5 minutes.

I'm a 15 handicapper senior and I'm not as consistent as Ian with my swing. I bought a box of Kirkland v3 yellow balls and find them as good as every other ball in my bag. Most of the discrepancy is ME, not the ball.

Given the Kirkland V3 is about 1/3rd the price, I'd say the average golfer with a handicap north of 7 would be well served just playing the cheaper ball. There wasn't enough appreciable difference between the two for anyone but the best players to notice.

Id say 12+. They didn't show it here, but Kirkland's tend to be very spinny, especially on poor strikes. So a cut tends to turn into a slice, and a draw into a hook. When hit well, they are totally fine though.

You'd be surprised. The Avg swing speed of golfers below 50 is plenty for these balls. And even if not, they still would perform fine. Go look at my golf spy ball comparisons at 80 90 and 100.

High compression isnt as relevant as it was in the 90s and 00s. You can have low compression with high speed, and high compression with low speed. There's a short video Snell just put out explaining that exact concept.

Unless your talking about high spin vs low spin, then I agree. Spin makes bad hits worse.

This is why you guys are the best and my go to for true data based info. I found the previous version of KSig (V2) to be shorter than I would have liked off the tee - perhaps worth a stop in at Costco on the way home to pick up 2 doz of the V3 to try. The wife asked me to stop in for a chicken anyways!! LOL.

I give Mikey and Ian a lot of credit for giving some of the other brands some attention now. They specialize in testing the latest and greatest. But, to get their expert opinions on the not so latest and greatest is appreciated too. Especially for us budget minded beginners.

Glad to see these tested. Performance seems fine for someone learning the game or just looking to have fun on the course. Thanks!

Off topic: I’ve watched so many of your golf ball reviews that I said to my wife that I could close my eyes and tell what club you were hitting by sound alone. She tested me and I was 100% right. I shouldn’t be proud of something like that…but I am. Keep up the great content gents!

I use the left dash and I think the number one difference for me is durability. When I'm playing well I can get about 36 holes out of the left dash before I switch it out and I notice with the cut balls they live up to their name and I tear them up with the wedges or out of sand

Need a video on the Maxfli lineup of balls. Next best value at ~$120 for 4 dozen. Doesn't hurt to have Lexi playing them either.

You could get 8 dozen Kirklands for $108. If that's the next best deal, it sucks. And I guarantee you they are not any better. Most likely worse.

My 3 favorite golf balls ranked in order: 1. Maxfli tour X; 2. Wilson Triad; 3. Kirkland Signature. Pro V1 and Pro V1x are great golf balls - I just won't pay that kind of money for the tiny difference in performance (and actually, I don't perceive any difference in performance between the Maxfli Tour X and the Pro V1x.)

This is a great video! I’d like to see you guys compare the Kirkland with other DTC balls, like Vice, Maxfli, and any other brand I’m forgetting. I know others have done this sort of thing, but the more sources for information, the better! Keep it up!!

For 25% of the price (2 dz for $27 vs. 1 dz for $54) this is well worth it for 90% of the golfers out there. Great test as this was much closer than I was expecting going in.

I made the switch to Kirkland a few years ago and love it. Durability is about the same as Pro V and I was getting similar performance. I do find the Pro V spins a bit more for me around the greens. The main reason for my switch is I’m really working on my game and adding new shots and knowing a lost ball is a $1 not $4. Speeds up play a lot because I don’t look for balls anymore. I’m also playing a lot more golf as I’m improving and loosing 2 or 3 balls doesn’t sting like it would before.

Negligible difference considering the massive price difference. Titleist pricing has gotten ridiculous.

I've had snell balls be scuffed up after one or two holes. A sleeve has never gotten through 18 since I've felt the need to change em up when higher lofted clubs would just tear apart the cover.

Great review. As a new golfer it makes me feel like the Kirkland ball is right for me (no matter what my buddies say)!

I have used every version of the KSig balls and find them to be good for that value. For me, they seem to be about a half club, to a full club at times, shorter than what I usually game. I typically use the KSigs in the off seasons when you can't post scores. Those times in the states in the midwest can be very random conditions with leaves all over the place and even some snow in some cases. I am not going to use my premium balls in those instances. I drop another KSig down and keep it moving. I normally game Srixon XV but I have been testing the Maxfli tour ball and I really like it.

I have been playing the Kirkland for years. I don't play as much as I used to, so the Kirkland is sufficient for what I need as a player right now. If I started got serious about my golf again I would move back to ProV1x, but for the price you can't beat the Kirkland as a casual golfer.

Play Kirkland v2 when I heard V3 was coming out I stocked up on v2's consistent ball for me

I play yellow pro V1 2021 for several years now at elevation of 1500 M . This year I have tried the K sig ,AVX and tru feel. I feel the main difference is the Pro v is better in the wind … I get the most distance from AVX but it will just not spin on greens and can launch lower than is good for me. The K sig has always been about the same as the titleist stuff, and it holds up to abuse. My only gripe is it is a click sound I hate putting them for some reason. Can you guys do a best ball for wind ?

Ive literally just had my 1st round with the kirky and im impressed.. didnt spin alot on short greenside chips but other than that i like it.

The one thing I do notice playing the Kirkland is the cover of the ball scallops very quickly from the wedges. Other than that it's a great alternative for the price. Great video.

Just grab two boxes the other day. I’ve found them and played them with no feeling good or bad. For the price I’m going to play a new ball every round. When gone I should be in a place where I’m not loosing too many and my premium balls can come out with confidence. I’m on the road back to golf so these will be a nice shiny part of my 2024 summer and more.

Love ball comparison tests. Like to see 3 piece urethane ball test with Bridgestone B series , Taylor Made tour response, Callaway ERC soft against the OnCore ELIXR

I use the Kirkland balls in my simulator. They hold up reasonably well, and I've never broken one(most other cheap balls break before the paint gets worn). I've found similar results that they perform close enough to a ProV1x.

I have heard that Kirks are higher spin. I feel like they get a little more off-line than other brands, but not sure if it’s a placebo effect since I’m thinking about it. I still game them half the time

I've got a mix of balls right now - Vice Pro Plus, Chrome Soft, Srixon Z-Star, Kirkland Signature v3. I keep going back to the Kirkland. I find the ball to be very predictable whether it be with driver (fitted by Paul K at the Toronto location), irons and hybrids (fitted by Dean S, also in Toronto) and around the green. Vice Pro Plus would be my second choice. The fact that four dozen cost the same as a box of ProV1's doesn't hurt, either.

Similar to myself.... got quite a few different balls in the bag including the "premium" brands, but playing 3x per week, I usually play Ksigs and shoot some of my lowest scores... in fact my lowest score this season was with that ball. Also, why is there such a discrepancy between the KZread reviewers (at least some) and folks like My Golf Spy? MGS absolutely hates Ksigs 😂. I have my ideas about why but curious what others think.

ProV1 are $55 for a dozen, Kirkland’s are $70 for four dozen. Close, but more like 3x cost.

@@jon4715 not sure where you see them for $55, unless you're in the USA. They're $72 at Golftown (or more at the course! The most egregious I've seen is $90) in Canada. K-sigs are $36.99

One thing i'd love to see in these tests is mikey's data as well. As someone whos swing speed is more aligned with him, knowing the difference at a 95-105 driver swing would be really useful.

Great review by the boys. Very impressed by the spin off the driver with this newest version. As others have said, durability is always a problem with these balls on wedge shots. Nevertheless, these would make great winter balls for me in the PNW where you can lose a ball in the middle of the fairway to the plug monster

Minimal difference in performance, and that is at Ian's swing speed. So for most of us there is no performance difference so go with the cheaper ball.

i found a kirkland on the course a couple years ago. Tried it and been using them ever since. I don't even know why i liked them but it was love at 1st flight.

Tend to use Bridgestone balls and tinker with other premium balls out of curiosity. When they get scuffed up I put them in the practice bag. Thinking I might invest in the Kirkland’s for practicing with a good ball in good condition.

For 2 years I played Kirkland. They are great balls but the only thing that lets them down is a wedge or bunker shot tears the face off them. They have a very soft cover on them. I am 100% behind them but a Kirkland can’t last more than a round without being scuffed, a TP5 for me can. So although Kirkland are cheaper, after a round the ball is usually relegated to the bag of practice balls.

For that price, I don't mind starting every round with a new Kirkland ball tbh. But I go through at least 4-5 balls per round, so durability would be a problem if love to have one day

@@sbr0116 😂 yes I started playing with them as losing premium balls is expensive. Kirkland are just great balls in my eyes. Since getting down to a 3-4 handicap I’ve tried others and prefer others for greenside and durability but in the end my scores are no better playing a tp5 over a Kirkland. Lot to be said for others to realise this too

Agree. I've been playing them for years and they're kinda off hit and miss on durability. I only say that because some are better than others. Hell I've torn the cover with 7i but yeah if you cut the legs off with a wedge shot you're almost guaranteed to see every groove of contact on the ball

I prefer the yellow KS V3's. In my playing with them, durability was a bit of a problem (but the price more than makes up for that), and I wasn't getting much checking/stoppage when landing on the green, compared to Pro V's. In store the KS's are $28, online they're $35 for 2 dozen. I still lose a ball or two every few rounds. At roughly a quarter of the price the KS's will be in my bag before the Pro V's, until I'm not losing balls and my handicap gets down to single digits. I regularly shoot +15 to +20, I lean toward 15 on courses I'm familiar with and toward 20 (sometimes a little more) on courses I'm not familiar with. My goal is some exercise, relaxation, fun, and hanging out with friends.

I play chrome soft and now the chrome tour. When I tried the Kirkland version 1 balls I was consistently 1 club short. Because of that I haven’t tried them since.

Hey Mikey,, you should have used the Kirkland wedges I gave you guys some time ago for the wedge test. Make it a full Costco challenge! Another great comparison.

Love the test and would love to see the same comparison, but to the "Legato" golf ball which is a 3 piece like the ProV1.

I did my own test as well using my blp and averaged almost 176 ball speed with a prov1x and 171 with the Kirkland. That extra yardage is almost worth it to me but not quite so I play the Kirklands.

I've been playing Kirkland's for the last 2 years. I'm an average player...13hc...low 90's driver speed. Great value ball. Not sure where the durability issues come from in the comments. Stop hitting cart paths and trees and you'll be fine. I can play the same ball multiple rounds and the cover is still in good shape. When I lose one....oh well...I'm out $1.50.

I normally use a pro v1x but thought I’d give the kirklands a go for bounce games. I tried the v2. I definitely noticed a drop off in driver distance and don’t seem to be as good in the wind which is important to me living in Scotland. Good value for money but I don’t feel like I can play my best golf with them

I'd love to see some comparison on manufacturing consistency. I think it was a mygolfspy test some years back that exposed some concerning deviations in performance from one ball to the next for some manufacturers. The KSig ball is obviously performing very well in isolation, but will each ball in the box perform the same? I'm not saying I suspect they won't, I just want to feel confident that I can trust them. I trust Titleist manufacturing to provide that consistency mostly because they have been fairly open about their plant, processes and priorities for each ball they make. If I could gain anywhere close to that level of confidence in the KSig it would be very hard to justify buying anything else really given the price.

love the vid. What i'd like to see you guys do is take your normal Titleist Pro V (whatever model you're using), and compare it to one of Titleist's cheaper offerings -- like the Velocity or the Trufeel. I'm curious to see what your take on it is (personally, i'm a 3 handicap with about a 100 mph driver swing, and i find the Velocity launches a little higher, has better distance off the irons, it's very predictable in its greenside action on approaches, and is absolutely tough as nails for endurance)

I've spent this season trying out different balls. I like the feel and performance of the Tour Response, the TP5, and the Wilson Staff, although the Wilson is a bit firm near the green. I'm sure any of them (and certainly the Pro V1) would do a great job for me. Until my handicap approaches zero, though, I can't justify paying 3-5x as much per ball.

I wonder how much of the ball speed difference was due to the toe strikes in the early shots seen with the KSig?

Absolutely strike and not ball. I wish they would've conceded that. I actually thought the ball flights were more consistent across the board for the Ksig. Makes me want to put them against my TP5 yellow.

For me it's also a consideration of balance in golf ball. How many aren't centered and how many are like the old Callaway balls that MGS found we're off center. I've seen test where a ball with a heavy side are rolled down a stimp meter from 10 feet and consistently miss the hole on the side that's heavy. Gotta give Callaway credit for x-raying their better balls to insure consistent balance.

I bought the kirkland as a winter ball to play in the UK. The ball is fantastic.....hopefully other ball manufacturers take note and reduce their prices.

I'm curious about your take on the MyGolfSpy test results on the kirkland ball.

Without a launch monitor the question is would you have noticed anything different minus sound/feel. You should do 9 holes with each ball and see how or if it affects score.

I think this is the best possible test --- take them out, and play 2 balls side by side (one Titleist and one Kirkland). then see what the scores are at the end of the round. I've actually seen one youtuber do this, but he wasn't really taking it seriously - he had a new Pro V1, and was comparing it to a Top Flite from the 1990's (you could tell because of how the logo on the Top-Flite looked).

I played Kirkland last week and Titleist this week. Kirkland held its own...for the money, I will probably start playing them more!

Would love to see those new Vice irons! They're pretty!

I have seen the same results on my GC Quad with Kirkland golf balls, Titleist Pro V1/X, Vice Pro Plus, Chrome soft, and Bridgestone Tour balls….I regularly go back to Kirkland balls for cost. I play 2-3 days a week and handicap goes from a +2 to a 2. Kirkland balls are legit.

Good review as always. I'd say driver is the only club where the performance difference is meaningful. But I suspect the kirkland is lower compression so at Ian's swing speed he is over-compressing the ball with driver, leading to the lower ball speed. Would be interesting to see a test at average speed (95 to 100 mph) and see if there still is a performance difference with driver. I'm guessing the kirkland ball is meant for the average player and the performance at average speed would be very comparable to the pro v.

I play Prov1X from a guy who sells lost and found balls. I pick my own and there is no difference from brand new Prov's. 2 doz for $40. The value for the best ball is the way to go.

I play Kirkland sometimes. I notice the biggest difference on my drives. They are significantly shorter. 115ish swing speed. I also eat the cover off with my irons.

I play the Kirkland ball and think it performs great. It definitely spins more around the greens which can also be a negative on fuller shots if you don’t strike it well. Durability is something I notice on some of the balls is not as good as more premium balls but it’s not every Kirkland ball, some are more durable than others.

Peter Kirk would be proud. (Kirkland Washington was named after him, and Costco names their products after the city where their initial headquarters were located)

I play Srixon Zstars for one reason over the other “big boys”. It’s the 2 for 1 deal for Father’s Day. Stock up a reasonable price and a ball as good as it gets.

I have played v3 of the kirkland extensively. The good: they feel good, especially with scoring clubs, they feel good putting, and I care less about losing them because of the low price. The not so good: I don't get as much distance with them, particularly with driver, and they are more prone to getting damaged. The bad: terrible in the wind, especially with a strong wind. Ballooning hitting into the wind, and they spin much further off line with a crosswind. I've switched to Legato 3085 balls for the most part. $29.99 off amazon most of the time, though you can get then at $24.99 periodically. They perform similarly to a TM Tour Response.

i lost a dozen srixon z stars at cross creek golf club last week. i might as well have thrown $50 in the trash at the golf shop when i bought them. i'll only buy kirkland signature balls until i break 100.

Has Snell fixed their durability problem with the newest release? I was so let down with the previous offering.

I typically play Srixon Z-Star, or a DTC ball brand which I am a fan of. I don't think that with the DTC ball I give up any performance (fractionally different profile but similar level of performance) BUT when comes to (A) consistency between versions of the same model and (B) consistency of balls in a box then the Srixon's would be more reliable. So depends on the round that I'm playing & sales I can find...

I’ve found the Ksigs scuff up too easy and a ball might last me a round now. However, because of how similar they are to the prov1x I keep a few in the bag as backup balls for the days when the swing feels like I’m gonna lose a few to the trees. Those days I switch to the k sigs since I tend to lose them faster than I scuff em anyways.

Just ordered 40x (Lake/lost Kirklands ) alll in great condition, near perfect for £20 . Sick to death of big company’s tryna rip customers off, for the sake of the money they piss away on advertising/player sponsorship. Not when there is all the great affordabale balls to pick from these days - seed, vice, Kirkland ect. Pro vs wouldn’t cost as much if people stopped buying them and switched to more affordable competitive balls which we are seeing break through.

A mid tier vs premium would be interesting to me. I want something with decent performance and durability but have a hard time spending $55 on a dozen. ERC soft vs chrome tour, tour response vs tp5x, tourspeed/soft vs Prov1

V1 Kirkland ball was amazing…but then after the lawsuit it’s been meh. I play the Legato now and that ball is great at under $30 for a urethane 3 piece.

The Version 2 had an issue with driver distance. It seems like this has been addressed. I think a ProV1 vs Kirkland would be a better comparison, especially for those that don't have swing speeds or clubhead speeds like you guys do. Lets face it, most of us don't. The ProV1x is a ball for someone like you but probably not for a 240 yard guy like me. And in reality the market for the Kirkland ball will probably be with the 'average' golfer that has that 135-140mph ball speed (yep, you were right Pud56).

Great point. The V2 fell well short for me distance wise off the tee. Looks like they may have addressed this in V3, which is good to see. I may give V3 a try as I am a 3 piece ball fan at my specs of 105mph club head speed / 150 ball speed.

Not sure if you read my comment, but maybe I was playing the version 2. I wasn't aware that there have been different versions of this ball. Maybe I should get the newest iteration and give it a try.

I've been playing the Chrome Soft lately and really like it. I'm a 14hc with average driver distance of 245ish. I was given a dozen Kirkland Performance+ balls and played them my last round. This was my experience. I was seeing well struck drives only go 215-220 total. One perfectly struck drive, which would go 265-270 with the Callaway, rolled out to 235. Flight was lower than I'm used to and I think they were spinning quite a bit. All my irons were about 10yrds shorter than I'm used to. Even wedges which I thought was pretty strange. Needless to say, I really didn't like this ball. At the end of the round, I just left the 11 I had left in the cart. Hopefully someone who likes them found them and it made their day. I dont mind paying extra if I see value in it. The Callaway ball, to me at least, is definitely worth the extra cost.

I agree. The Kirkland is definately shorter with driver. However, I don't notice the difference much with irons or wedges. Maxfli Tour X performs as well as chrome soft and Pro V1's and any other premium tour balls. Can usually get them for $30 dozen when you buy 4 dozen. Significant savings over the major brand's tour balls and the same performance for anyone that is not playing on a professional tour. Even Lexi Thompson of the LPGA plays Maxfli Tour balls.

As a low teens handicap, and a 90 MPH driver speed, I think this test perfectly justifies my cheapness when it comes to Kirkland balls. Thankfully I have a buddy that buys me two dozen every year for Christmas!

I think the bridgestone bxs balls for the price is a great all rounder. But again for the price that Kirkland looks like definitely worth a try

I only play kirkland balls on tight par 3 holes with water hazards. It's just a little shorter than other balls i use. 2-5 yards is a difference for me when I need all the distance I can get. especially if one club shorter has a much tighter dispersion. but to each their own...

I play the Kirkland and the Vice Pro ,,, I know the the Vice is going to stop quicker on the green from 100 yards in

I would have liked to see this test against Pro V1 and Pro V1X.

I bought a box of the Kirkland balls and found them to be great value for money. The only problem I had with them was the outer layer was not as durable as my gamer ball TP5X .

As a player of both, ill buy kirkland and wait to find a vx which are quite readily availble off the right side of fairways. I prefer the vx simply for the confidence around the green with punchy flops and pitching to stop on quick greens, but besides that its hard beat the price difference. But if i do buy expensive balls its going to be this years bridgstone tiger bx balls over both.

Good review. The reality is you're getting damn near ProV performance for Taylor Made Distance money. Cheaper than Srixon Soft Feel etc

Do we have to have a Costco account to get these balls for the cheap 2 dozen price. I found them on Amazon but cheapest was $27 for 1 dozen..

I’m pretty sure you don’t, just go to their website or the app. In the US it’s like 35 for 2 dozen without membership and 28 for 2 dozen with it

Bwahahaha! Love it! 99pct of golfers will see NO DIFFERENCE on the course! MGS dubunked completely. They are much less than that in the US. $27-28 or so for 2doz in store.

What do you think about durability of the Kirkland?

I think for most, it is a choice between something like a Kirkland or something like an AD333. I’ll take the Urethane option every time. No brainer. I tend to use Wilson Staff Model, but same principle.

I am not sure if you have the chance, but an outdoor test with a trackman that follows the balls all the way might quell the MGS inconsistency claims. Any quality issues with off centre cores would never show in a GC4 test.

Why do people keep comparing these to a premium ball. Wjy are we not comparing them to a comparable budget 2 piece. Surely these are a far better choice than a 2 piece or a surlin at the same price point

I think for a majority of players and especially new players, the Kirkland 3.0 is a no brainer. Based off these results, everything is about the same. The only MAJOR difference being ball speed with driver, which is honestly not going to be as big with someone who is not swinging at 112-116+mph. If you’re swinging at 100mph, that difference probably comes down to ~3mph. At less than half the price, the k3.0 is the way to go for 80% of golfers out there.

Need to try out version 3. I went through 5 or 6 balls in 18 holes with version 2 because the covers were not durable. My wedges tore them up. So it ended up being more expensive for me over a few rounds (as long as i didnt lose any of the 5 dollar balls haha) In addition, Vice Pro at Sam's Club is $30 for 24 balls. So it's an even better deal! Which ball would yall pick?!?!?

I managed to play 27 holes with the same Kirkland ball before I noticed a fairly long cut mark. it almost looked like a crack in the cover stock. Still no complaints though.

I love the Kirkland ball! With 96% of the performance at less than 25% of the cost you can't go wrong. It definitely speeds up my play! Also performs very well for me off the tee as well as around the greens. I've tried most of the balls recommended for mid to high handicap players (I'm currently 20+) and the only one that comes close to the Kirkland is the Bridgestone e12 and that one is still twice the cost of the Kirkland with basically the same performance and feel. If you haven't, give them a try...

@@jon4715 Last purchase in the store in Riverton, Utah was $27.95 for two dozen. Pro V1's are $54.99 here for one dozen. Four dozen Kirklands for the price of one dozen Pro V1's. That math works out to 25%. I did go online this AM and see that Kirklands are $34.99 on their website. That makes your math correct.

It's not until the consumer gets fed up with being ripped off on the price by Titleist that things will change. As the test shows there is next to nothing in the performance, yet the price difference means Kirkland is by far the best.

Feel is huge for most golfers. You can feel a huge difference even when you hold them in your hand. Kirkland is hard as a rock. Terrible feel with all clubs, terrible sound. Though I get it if you’re shooting 90+ every round and losing half a dozen balls it’s not worth it to pay for a premium ball.

@@Glukh Ian says in this video that the ProV1x actually felt firmer than the new V3 KSig ball. The Kirkland is certainly not the firmest 3 piece ball out there. They may scuff and breakdown a bit quicker but that is really the only downfall at $1 a ball.

I'm an 8 and play nothing but Kirk's you catch a ball square and you don't even feel it. You are over dramatic to the max. They absolutely do not feel like a rock that title belongs to the cheap top flites and these feel NOTHING like that

Oooh common Mikey... ball flight trajectory on an indoor simulation....LMFAT. In my book, the ONLY way to get that true visualization is outdoor to see how the ball truly flies...regardless of the ball. The Kirkland is AN OUTSTANDING value golf ball...and it is NOT just for kids. Every one of us can play the Kirkland and we would ALL be delighted with the shot! Moreover, so would our pocketbook.
