THE BEST UPGRADE | Making Self Squaring Flip Stops for my Small Sled

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This flip stop blocks for my small cross cut sled, is something I wanted to make for a long time. Now i did it. The construction is the same, as the flip stops I made for my miter saw except the pointers. I like this flip stops a lot. Especially the fact that they can flip up. That is very usefull to prevent the piece to get pinched between stop block and saw blade. In this way I can set the piece against the stop, flip it up and make the cut. Also the self adhesive tape measure is very usefull. Now i dont have to measure anymore. I'm so glad that I finally made this flip stops.

    Forget the flip stops, the hand holes in the sledge guide preventing fingers getting caught in the saw blade is a brilliant detail. Well done!

    Wonderful. Thanks! I cant believe that I have two accurate stainless rules that I never use for wood work. I am transferring them to the shop from my office desk. And your accent is just fine thanks.

    I have never seen a sled with handles, but I like it. Never made a fence straight so that I could have a support bump in the middle, high enough for taller saw height. But with the slots, I can make a taller flat fence, with t-track and a flip-stop, and still be able to grip the wood.

    I make one but when I butt the cut piece against the swing arm, there is a bit of lateral play. So my cuts aren't accurate 🥺 would you have any suggestions to eliminate this? Thanks

    Hey nice work! did you do the little cut on that side of the plastik that lays directly on the meassurement-tape? If so - Ok, my question answered - if not, I would recommend to do it on that siede which will lay directly on the tape - parallax error

    Could you please explain what makes it self squaring?

  • @ISIMPLYBUILTIT

    @ISIMPLYBUILTIT

    The fact that the support part is round at the bottom makes it self squaring. As soon as the wing nut is tensioned the round part will align with the t-track.

    While your projects are useful and clear, the most promising element of your videos for the "self-taught" (a US thing) like me is exposure to your methods of work. I wonder, were you subject to a rigorous apprenticeship?
