1)FOOD 2)FOOD 3)FOOD 4)FOOD 5)Did I mention food? I live here and get to enjoy the amazing local dishes all the time. Take note on the "char kuey teow" "asam laksa" and basically every other traditional noodle dish. If you want to cool off, a refreshing bowl of "cendol" or "ais kacang/ABC" is brilliant.

@@Etiqagul I wouldnt say its clean, but its not ridiculously dirty. The streets are kinda clean, but the beach are dirty abd very poluted. So if u r coming to Penang, dont expect anything to do much with the beach bcoz there are other better, cleaner beaches

Just back from Penang , lots to see and do there . Loved the interactive street art , Upside down museum was fun and made some great photos. Entopia Butterfly Farm was worth a visit , also Tropical Spice Garden , but both closer to Batu Ferringhi than Georgetown. We split our time between both areas .

Enjoy your vids and the enthusiasm of the young but was a bit naive to hear that the street art brought Penang to the attention of travellers. A little history lesson is needed Nate ! In the 70's Penang was the gathering point for travellers wanting to apply for visas and extensions to Thailand. Koh Samui had been recently opened up to travellers and Phuket was a desirable destination so you would spend your 3 months in those spots and then head to Georgetown to secure the visa for a further stay. My fave hangout was the Tye Ann Hotel on Chulia St and met numerous travellers there with whom I've managed to maintain a connection with over the years. Actually returning to Georgetown this year for a 2 month stay to enjoy that wonderful city once more. Keep up the good work your info is always positive and helpful I'm sure.

I am from Penang and I am disappointed that u missed mentioning nasi kandar which is the signature dish of Penang. It is a plate of rice with your choice of chicken, meat, fish, squid or prawns cooked in various ways and a mish mash of all curries ladled onto the rice..half a spoon of fish curry here, half a spoon of beef gravy there etc. The taste is out of this world. U hv to taste it to believe me. U cant say u hv been to Penang until u taste our nasi kandar!!!

It is a Street Food Paradise for .....Muslim , Indian , Chinese foods . On the western part of Penang ( Teluk Bahang , Balik Pulau etc ) you'll see a more relax lifestyle like fishing villages , paddy fields , fruit farms. to name a few . Beautiful beaches can be found along Tanjung Bungah , Batu Ferringhi or the resort island of Pulau Jerejak . Come , visit as Penang extends a warm welcome to all ! Cheers !!!

You should claim some money from Penang Tourist Bureau for promoting Penang.

Aside from the graffiti art, Penang and KL seem almost exactly the same. Also, don't promote the soup bro.

Georgetown remains untouched? Ahahahahaahahahahaahahahahahahahaah. You should see it before they got that stupid Heritage title. I have seen the changes of Penang for 30plus years. That Heritage title is a curse. And because Chinese people are involved. You won't see any more old building in after another decade.

@@corneilcorneil I only go to Penang if I need to buy supplies for my shop, if not, I avoid going there. Too much traffic. Georgetown is packed. And if the China tourist are there.......

I live in Penang, I see frog porridge sale in some Chinese shops. It's not normal fare and I'm pretty sure it's non-halal to eat amphibians but if you Google it you'll find half a dozen shops selling it. I have never been brave enough to try it.

I sometimes stay at Chulia Heritage on Chulia Street. It's s an 8 to 10min - walk to d Chowrasta Market. U can get tasty Nyonya kuih there ( go early) on d street. Opposite d market' s a coffeeshop that sells homemade fishball soup noodles. He sells out quickly so go before 10 hrs. There r stalls & places open even at 21.30 hrs near d hotel & with lots of people around so rather safe. Plenty of hostels around. Most folks speak English
