The Best SKATEPARKS Are Cheap

You don't need a huge budget to make the best skatepark, sometimes simple skateparks are much better then expensive skateparks, in this video I explain why. Subscribe: bit.ly/subscribezackdowdy

What makes a skatepark good for you?!

I have a park near me and it’s just a big lot owned by the city and everyone’s allowed to bring concrete and wood and build whatever they want. To this day it’s still the most fun I’ve ever had at a skatepark.

Variety. Especially in a city where you have more than one park. In my city we have a very basic park just some banks and zero coping , and we have others with 11 foot pool and 8 foot quarters everywhere and then we have parks that are a mix . So with that you can just pick what your in the mood for and go skate . All that being said I still prefer the curbs at the middle school down the street.

Thanks Gil! I was pretty scared to try that, stoked I got it.
At every skatepark there should be at least the basics. Flatbar, quarter, ledge, curb, mannypad. After that, you can add whatever you want. You should be able to train the basics first.

Solid point!
"when you have everything, it seems like you have nothing" remember this an apply it to life boys
An important thing for me is to have enough space between features. It gives a park some breathing space so you can compose yourself and you can even session one feature without getting in the way of the features. Some parks try to pack too much in to one area so there is no flow, it's hard to do anything with speed and it feels crowded with just a few people in it. All the best, Rich in Sweden.
A good thing about simple skateparks is how they are less attractive to scooters
I love parks where there is an obstacle that you can learn new tricks on. So i guess I like it basic haha, simple flat bar, ledge, and sets. Of course gnarly stuff is super fun and cool, but I love having the mellow options
I like small parks like this because I feel more confident and comfortable skating something smaller or more simple and basic.
We're skaters, We make it work no matter what.

Good vid my friend 👏💯😎
I think many types of parks is the way to go especially when they are in close proximity. It give different level and style of skaters different places to ride and helps keep them from over crowding.
Hey Zack... another great video. One question: which lenses are you using to film on such a bright sunny day?
Hey Zach - video idea: what is your experience with and perspective on coming back from injuries? I'd love to hear from Big Al too!
Went here on work a few weeks back. Sick skateparks but I tried hitting one of the quarters and they have a pretty steep transition compared to what I’m used to. Love the pump track though
The pump park reminds me of the serpentine runs in the skate parks back in my day, except way cooler!
We have just two skateparks very small ones... but One of the as a couples of features good for progressing!
Your style is sweet man. 🤙🏼
For a good skatepark i just need all the essential obstacles a mini ramp, higher quarters, a nice ledge and flatbar and thats it
I miss San Diego. I prefer the parks there compared to the LA ones. That one in particular you're at has every sized ledge. If I grew up with that around I would be a tech ledge wizard for sure
Awesome!
You should make a video of the smaller crappier park's in SD. Harborside park in Chula Vista has a weird one in the back corner that'll make you laugh. Another one is in heritage park in eastlake.
People in that community are gonna have the most beautiful switch style because of that pump track training facility!!
Pac Ranch is super fun! I drive down from HB because it’s that good 🤙🏽
Wassup zack💛
I don't know man. I feel like some of the 'cheap' parks in my neighbourhood are just way too small for even just the local skaters to skate. I do know things would be more acceptable had it been more cleverly designed and not like a 'dead end street' design where basically you can't flow through the park and hit all obstacles. But dang... I definitely wouldn't consider it 'best'. However, it _does_ have a slappy curb and it does have a more DIY feel to it with some banks that have like bricked walls in them, making it a bit of a street spot thing. But the overall design could have easily been a million times better. Having said that, it's still fun to skate. Just not something I'd go to if crowded. And some larger parks in the area just have way better space.
The music you used during the pump track section reminded me of Creep by Radiohead.
I’ve seen Ace Pelka air that gap at the pump track
In New Orleans all we have is one pretty nice DIY under a bridge. Its cool but we need more.
Pump track is sweet!
I love my small local because there is no one there till noon most week days
Ripping man!
Hi Zack Dowdy :)
I have a million dollar skatepark and one that probably cost 100,000 and I tend to go to the cheaper one just because the community is better there
That parks awesome
damn california is like a skate paradise compared to Canada
I love that park, and it's close to two more fun parks.
Smashed
Ya city's need to realize if they built a pump track beside the skatepark the scooter kids wouldn't get hurt as much cause everyone is segregated and not all trying to hit 1 obstacle. Look how many kids were at the pump track. I they all were at the skatepark it would have been chaos.
I bought a parking block for my local skate park
👍
Sometimes less is more.
I wanna make a public skate spot but the only rule is only skateboarders. No scooters, no rollerbladders, no BMX bikes.
