@@schorschmcgill it’s effectively that you can’t really tackle someone anywhere near the neck otherwise you will get penalised, so now everyone is forced to use better technique which results in better tackles 👍

@@schorschmcgill My apologies, it's really new refereeing directives rather than new laws. But if you watch enough rugby you'll see that some officials are managing to mess these very clear directives up with subjective calls!

Yeah that's what I thought watching both his hits, they aren't illegal because his arms are low enough but they easily could turn into illegal tackles if he isn't careful, they are lazy as well and the tackle technique really isn't great

he’s a top player but his tackle technique is lazy, a few inches higher each time and he goes off with a concussion or a card or both

Last tackle dangerous as fuck, could’ve easily just been kneed in the face and out cold. Same as most of halfpenny’s tackles, head is always on the wrong side hence why he ends up knocked out so often

Hmm not sure, on the replay it looks like he gets his shoulder in the way to protect his head. It happens so quick though doesn't it I bet he's not doing a dynamic risk assessment as he goes to tackle.

@@mrbtapir either way, I can't see him making at attempt to wrap his arms so I would think it should be considered more of a shoulder charge than a tackle
