    No. He said you can be 3 reps from failure. It's best to go to failure every set. Most people are too lazy to do it though

    It's coping strategies for muscle growth - damage has to be done to the muscle, which is indicated by lactic acid buildup. Going nowhere near failure doing a set of 30 will cause lots of damage to the muscle, not as much as heavier loads but still enough to build muscle.

    And the higher reps you do, cardiovascular fatigue starts to become a factor. However, too low reps would mean you would have to lift super heavy, which could cause joint pain. Thats why, 6-12 is a great medium in building muscle

    Time under tension does not contribute to hypertrophy at all. That’s exactly why 5 reps can be the same as 30.

    I'd say the optimal rep range depends on whether the exercise is a compound or an isolated one, In case of heavy compund lifts like Bench Press 8-12 Reps is good enough but for isolation movements like Bicep Curls you might as well increase the reps all the way to 15-20 to work the muscle optimally.

    Important thing to have in mind is that not all muscles are the same, some contain more fast twitch and some have more slow twitch fibers, if a muscle is primarily a slow twitch muscle than it needs a whole lot more volume than usual 8-12 x 3-4 for example forearms and calves, most people don't grow them because they train them like it's chest or triceps
