Regarding Mr. Russell and the all star game his rookie season, the all star game was played a lot earlier in the season back then. According to BRef it was played on Jan 15th. Combined with Russell's late start to the season for the Olympics I believe, according the game log, that means that Bill Russell would have only played 13 games before the ASG was played. I don't know how long before the game the selections as to who plays is made, but chances are it was at least somewhat beforehand. By the time those picks were made Russell had likely only played a handful of games.

The 50's are so interesting honestly.. even Open Court didn't cover that decade, but I wish they would have. There's plenty to talk about. They just started with the 60's but a lot of great players in the early 60's on up were already great in the 50's. When I think of the 50's I think of iconic players like Mikan, Schayes, Cousy, Russell, and Pettit. Cousy's impact on the game is incredible.

@@DillSkin This whole NBA 75 event made me interested into the very early years of the NBA and as they didn't give out MVPs in the first years, I was wondering, who might have won. Although I might have a differing view on some occasions, I really appreciate the effortas most creators just straight up ignore the 40s and 50s.

I think this is such a fresh and interesting video idea. Keep doing these. However, I would like to say that MVP and Best player are not the same, therefore you're not really debunking anything.

100% they never have been and probably never will be. A lot of people do get those two mixed together thpugh and its moreso just as a best player every season video.

I am sorry but hate him or love them Draymond Green makes any team he is on better and even if that team is the Detroit Pistons. Look everyone raves about Steph Curry and he can't win without green but yet Curry is the MVP people talk about

In the 1956-57 season, you definitely undersell the great Tom Heinsohn, one of the original power forwards, who actually won ROY over Russell that season. Russell probably was more deserving of ROY, and he was the leader and catalyst of those teams, but Red Auerbach deserves more credit then he usually gets. He took Heinsohn as a territorial pick, drafted Russell number two overall, then grabbed K.C. Jones in the 2nd round. That’s three HOF players in one draft! He was playing chess when the rest of the league was playing checkers.
Your obviously a Celtics fan because your argument for bill Russell is a joke, he wasn't the best player on his team, it was bob cousy from 1956-1964 so why are you trying to make Russell better than what he really was

Yeah it seems so weird to us now that they didn’t keep track of that considering how vital those stats are in the world of basketball nowadays. Especially since it took them like 2 decades. Crazy

The video didn't get as much traction as I hoped it would and I've also been very busy with other videos and other stuff I just haven't been able to make time for it. I in fact have the list made and a thumbnail made for a 1960s video but just haven't gotten around to making it since I have to allocate an obscene amount of time to making these videos especially lists like this one. I will try eventually to get one out though I'm glad you asked! :)

Video didn’t get the attraction I was hoping for it to get at the time so I prioritized other things. Now I’m too busy with other stuff to make one since they take so much effort. Glad to hear there’s some demand for it though!
