I don’t get why people are so quick to act like loving Halle’s is a disrespect to the original when Halle’s was a beautiful rendition.

I was gonna comment the same thing. Sing is what they're doing (I'm not gonna say it's easy), BUT Halle was singing AND acting soooo you can feel the song so much more.

To be fair, it's not like anyone is there trying to act it out as Ariel or is doing a formal performance - most of them are in the car or at home just jamming it out. Plus Raymond Salgado & Grace Kinstler did have good emotion in their voices & could probably bring it out even more if this wasn't just for Tiktok

Natalie James is my favorite!!!! I loved the tone of their voices.

Sam Tsui and his husband Casey Breves' duets are definitely worth doing a deep dive on because their vocals are incredible! Way too much talent for one family lol

It’s calling mixing vs belting! And yes usually the vowels also can differ in the different placements/ registers/ use of breath/etc. Loved the video. 🥰 Thanks for putting this together! What you're talking about at 8:50 was referred to as "north-south" and "east-west" mouth shape/phrasing when I was in choir, north-south forming that "ooh" sound for a very proper tone used in choir, broadway, opera, etc. while east-west forms that "aah" sound for contemporary, pop music (leaning into a more American singing accent)
