The BEST of Wilder Ranch Mountain Biking

Спорт

This is the link to "The Best Of Wilder Ranch" On MTB Project: bit.ly/2VcUdsd . Keep in mind, instead of taking eucalyptus loop, I took the enchanted trail loop!
This was an interesting ride to say the least. Muddy, overgrown, and a few challenging sections left me exhausted at the end of the day. Although almost all of the odds were against me, I still had a blast!
Santa Cruz has had a super wet winter this year & is really doing some damage to the Mountain Biking Trails. I want to sincerely apologize to the volunteer's and trail workers who spend countless hours maintaining these trails. If I would've known, I wouldn't have ridden it...

I think the issues you were having with the drops is that you were treating them like jumps. You were lifting your handle bars and therefore your body wasn't properly in position for the landing. Just lean back, commit to it and let the bike do the work on it's own, you just pick the lines and maintain balance. But nonetheless, cool video. Nice clip!

I grew up a few miles from The Ranch, ( near *Mystery Spot* ) and do my best to get back there several times a year to ride both the Ranch & Demo trail plus a road loop comprised by a couple of the back mountain roads that are so incredibly beautiful that I find it worth breaking my self-imposed rule of *_''NO ROAD RIDING!''_* lol

Too much pressure in your shocks or too much rebound? Both? Seemed like you were bouncing all over instead of absorbing roots & drops.

  • @polypenguin

Hey! I have to comment. Look I ride all of that with no suspension. First thing, look down the trail where you want to go! Next, just lean back and lengthen your arms. Then, DONT BOUNCE the front! Just let the bike drop down the roots, maintaining a firm grip and looking ahead. DO NOT touch the brakes until you are over everything. What appears to be happening is your rebound is set too fast, and you are popping the front up, then coming down, then the rebound is pogoing it up and since you’re on the front the front tire has to go somewhere, and is pushing out sideways. I do this all without suspensions, my arms do all the work. They extend down as the front drops, then pull up to lighten up the front tire to keep traction. Lastly, these are my home trails. Don’t ride them if you don’t like them. But please don’t talk so badly about them. Increase your skills! I would be glad to show you some tips.

Random question, how long did it take for your Vitus Sentier + to arrive from CRC? I just ordered a new bike and was wondering about how long it will take to arrive. Thanks

Out Here Pedalin ' I’ve been there twice, once on a weekend road trip and the other we flew down there for a day. Like flew in in the morning, rode all day, and then left that evening. I want to go there for a little longer at some point and really experience the Walmart culture

Out Here Pedalin ' the first time yes, on my diamondback that had the frame welded and I threw together the night before. The second time it was closed and we went to slaughter pen. But if you can see on biking with bobo’s last few videos, it was mint after it reopened. It’s really cool in a way that it weeds out the park rats because you have to climb back up to the top after your downhill. Lots of time and effort went into those trails

Trail stewardship states you should stay on the single track and not go off (muddy) tracks otherwise you widen the trail and things are not as you found them. If you can’t or don’t want to ride through the mud on a given day then go somewhere dry. Or practice skills in the parking lot or climb a paved road or cross train or what ever but don’t ruin trails and then document it for us to see. BTW you need to fix your fork settings as it looks like you were rebounding instead of soaking up the roots...
