    In Catalan for the same meaning of "On the John" we say "Vaig a veure al Sr Roca" (I am goinf to meet Mr Roca), because the more important brand of water closeds is ROCA, that is the name of the factory's founder.

    Ah good old days !❤ A splendid trip down memory lane ! I must say I remember watching every one of those video. The way we were . Memories, Light the corners of my mind Misty watercolor memories Of the way we were Scattered pictures Of the smiles we left behind Smiles we gave to one another For the way we were Can it be that it was all so simple then? Or has time re-written every line? If we had the chance to do it all again Tell me, would we? Could we? Memories May be beautiful and yet What's too painful to remember We simply to choose to forget So it's the laughter We will remember Whenever we remember The way we were

    Happy New Year 2024! One of the ways I try to reduce my carbon footprint is: When driving my car, if I know I am going to be sitting for more than ten seconds or so, due to road construction, traffic lights, etc., I turn my car off instead of leaving it on and idling. The zoos and conservation societies says this helps. From Washington state, out by the Pacific Ocean. ❤

    ~~~~~~ The Lake ~~~~~~ Thus, always driven onward to shores like this In eternal nights one-way carried away Can we not ever on ocean of ages Drop anchor for one day? O Lake! Scarce has the year completed its turn Near the cherished waves she should've seen again I have come alone to sit upon this stone You saw her sit on then. You were roaring such, below those plunging cliffs. And just so, you broke onto their shredded brims Just so, the wind flung the foam of your wavings On her beloved feet Recall the evening we sailed out in silence? We would hear afar on the wave beneath skies But the rowers' claps striking in cadence Your harmo_nious tides. Then of a sudden, tones untold in the world Resounded all 'round the sounding spellbound sea. The flow was alert; and I could hear these words From the voice dear to me: "Pause in your run O Time! Suspend your flight! Propitious hours, stay! Let us enjoy the transient delight That fills our fairest day. Unhappy crowds cry out to you in prayers; Flow, Time, and set them free! Run through their days and through their ravening cares! But leave out the 'happy'! And In vain I pray hours to linger on but time slips into flight. I say to this night: "Be slower!"; But the dawn Will dissipate the night. Let's love, then! Love, and feel while feel we can The moment on its run. Man has no harbour; and there's no shore for Time It flows, and we pass on." Can it be, jealous time, our drunken moments, When love's pouring forth huge floods of merriment, Fly off far from us with an equal swiftness As days of wretchedness? What! Why can we not at the least fix a track? What! Forever gone? What! all wholly lost? The Time that gave them, this Time that rubs off Will not bring them us back!... Eternity, naught, past, dark gulfs, abysses Tell, what do you do with the days you devour Speak! Shall you not bring us back those sublime things, Return raptured hours? O Lake, silent rocks, caves and darkling wood, You that time has spared or can restore to light, Let there live at least O Nature beautiful The memory of that night : Let it be in your stills and be in your storms, Fair Lake, in the air of your laughing hillsides In the black pine trees, within savage rocks Hanging above your tides; Let it be in the breeze that stirs and passes, In the shore's lapping by your brims repeated In the star's silver countenance that glances Your surface with soft gleams. Let the moaning winds, let the sighing reeds, Let light balms you blow throughout cliff and grove, Let all that's beheld or is heard or is breathed Let all things say: "they loved!" Lamartine + fab. ❤🌹
    Ok, as an American, I'd like to make a few comments... Even though I knew what you meant by "on the john" I'm not sure I've ever actually heard anybody say that. People will say things like "I'm on the toilet" or "in the bathroom" - I think it'd be more likely somebody would say that they're "in the john" than on, referring to the bathroom itself as the john (even though, yes, it's the actual toilet that is in fact the john). I loved the look on Leila's face when you were talking about the Happy Days episode when the Fonz jumped the shark haha. So...was it considered rude to ask somebody if they were a "leave" or a "stay" when that was going on? Or just controversial?
    Hi Ladies, I have missed you! Glad to see you both again even if this is a re-cap. As you certainly know by now, Sir John Harington was a Brit who evidently invented the flush toilet around 1596. In fact he had one installed for the Queen at the time. Is that the reason Americans call it the JOHN? Beats me, but there WAS a JOHN involved! 🤣
    Since I am living in London my carbon footprint is zero because I’ve got all the commodities close to me even for shopping although I may think all Londoners are not lucky to have everything close to them . For some of us big supermarkets with affordable price are not enough close to shop ing locally .
    I have a question about sentence phrasing. I hear Neal Sean speak on his KZread channel sentences like "if this is different TO what you have heard, please let me know". In American English it is much more common to say "if this is different FROM what you have heard, please let me know". I believe he is from Dorset-is this a Dorset thing?♥
