The Best of Both Worlds? | 2021 Land Rover Defender Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Off-road enthusiasts know & love the old Land Rover Defender. However, times have changed. Land Rover is no longer the rugged brand that it once was. Their vehicles (though still mighty capable) have become somewhat of a staple in the wealthier households of the world. Does this mean that their new dedicated off-roader can't hang? Well, you may be surprised!

I just bought one, I am a female and really just thought it was so cool looking. This is my 5th Landrover, started with a Range Rover , had a LR 4 , 2 Discovery Sports and Now this. It is so Big. Seeing it and driving it did not seem as big, but getting home to garage is is super tall. I am 5’1”. Inside the car though driving you feel like you’re in your own world. It feels so sound, so solid and just amazing. I like this video it is helping me learn about my new companion. The technology it it seems amazing yet not too complicated . Mine has a charger thing to lay your phone on without even plugging it it. Curious how many buyers are females?

I love the looks of this vehicle. I was all set to purchase a 2020 or 2021 until I reviewed many issues coming up even on day 1 that the vehicle is picked up from the dealer. It is interesting that at the beginning of the video the comment of “they are not known for their reliability” or something along those lines is mentioned. How can Land Rover be content with the reliability issues? As much as I want this vehicle, the thought of it being in the shop more than it should be bothers me. Hopefully this will be a more reliable vehicle in the 2022 model year.

The 2022 model should be a larger improvement due to a better understanding of weaknesses. 2023 model should be a much larger improvement since LR should know by then how to solve the problems they’re having as well as refine the manufacturing process. Of course, this depends on them not making a dumb decision to try out a bunch of brand new things before perfecting what they already have.

Good balanced review. If the other review you referred to is the other US review I watched, those people were idiots. Anyone with any sense knows that with modern cars, if there any electronic warnings, you switch the car off and on again before opening bonnets and going into panic mode. They went into panic mode straight away. As a professionally trained off road driver (army), I have never got stuck or broke down in a Land Rover - ever. I owned a Disco too years ago. The reason is that I was trained, and the vehicles were looked after by people who were properly trained.

Forrest, recently you reviewed a 2020 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition, which helped me with the decision of getting one. How does it compare with the Land Rover when going off-road? It's obvious Toyota has the edge in reliability and the Rover has the edge in tech - just curious which one you'd consider superior for the trails.

I think they could both be pretty neck & neck in terms of capabilities. For a fully independent set up, it’s truly an understatement to say that this is an impressive machine. Compared to a Land Crusier where the chassis flex gives clue to how much work it’s putting in, this Defender doesn’t “flex”. This really hides how well this vehicle performs to the trained off-roader’s eye. The ground clearance on the Defender (in maximum height) is a tad better than the Land Cruiser. I’d be interested to see one of these kitted out. It would be one capable machine, however, the massive question mark is reliability when compared to the legendary Cruiser.

Very comprehensive sir. You covered some things that I did not learn about in other reviews. Good job. Would I buy one-not on your life. I owned a disco for a few years I loved it until I didn’t. They just are huge headaches to own sorry to say. Way cool-and way unreliable unfortunately

This video is the most glamours that I sew. The defender is a wonderful off-road vehicles. But I don’t have money to buy this vehicle.

I really wish that the Defender had a split tailgate like the LR3/LR4. Much more functional.
